I am a current member (02/03/2017) and have been a member for a year. The gym participates in a "Silver" program which floods the gym with elderly. The free weight section of the gym is great, the treadmills are good (most of them), & the weight machines are mostly outdated. The ceiling is failing due to water leaks, the facility could use a fresh coat of paint. My family joined because the gym offers family workout times and has a great indoor and fabulous outdoor pool with slide. If the owners would put some money into the facility I would rate it better.

They redid the womens locker room in VERY elegant but minimalist taste. You feel like a queen in the room, it's that nice. Love the outdoor and indoor saltwater pools. Love the group exercise classes as well. Very classy taste with classy people. Leave your attitude at the door before you walk in, and suck in the ambiance!

I've been swimming in the indoor saltwater pool at Lake Shore for a little over 2 years. I love the pool. Lap lane swimming is sometimes crowded, sometimes not. I don't like that the calendar changes so frequently-it makes it very hard to swim on a routine. Women's locker room is okay, and the therapy pool very nice. I've done a little work from time to time in the conditioning room and it works well for me, although I don't have experience elsewhere to make any comparison. Staff seem nice and helpful. Never met a snotty one there.

My family loves Lake shore Athletic Club. There are lots of options for family activities as well as workout options. The facility is great. Lots of equipment, great swimming pools (Salt water), and much more. The staff are friendly and work hard to get to know the regulars. My 3 year old daughter loves the supervised play area and all the events that Lake Shore puts together. The gym just has a family vibe. Because of that we would have a hard time going anywhere else.

Gym equipment was refreshed recently, the free lifting weights are a little old though. The two basketball courts were recently redone, which is great and the locker rooms were renovated. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are in fairly good shape. The staff is pretty nice although only some of them are chill enough to let you take a friend in for free. The only reason why it's 4 stars is that it's way more expensive than the LA fitness located nearby that has similar features. Oh and this place also has racquetball and a golf range, as well as tennis

The customer service is horrible. We take our kids to Lakeshore for swim lessons every week. When our lesson was postponed for 45 minutes they wouldn't let the kids play in the play area because we are not members. We have been coming here for 2 years.is horrible. We tai

I toured this facility when looking for a new gym. While I liked the options that it had to offer, the weight room is very cramped and much of the equipment is obviously old and rundown. Also, since I was only concerned with the weight room, the rates are unreasonably high for my needs.

If I could give zero stars I would. This gym is rediculous. Such a waste of money and they cater to themselves and not their members. The gym feels dirty, their hours are inconvenient, especially the weekend. They charge extra for everything from childcare to having a guest. They do not communicate well at all with their guests. It's ran by young adults who honestly act like they are clueless. It's way too overpriced for what you get. Also The one time my kid went into the childcare he got a nasty hand foot and mouth disease. They obviously never clean anything in that place! I would never recommend this gym to anyone. Stay far away!!!!! I feel like I was constantly treated rudely.

If this review were based on staff, community, or the good feels you get from this place solely, it would get 6/5 stars. As it stands, as far as the actual facility goes I want to give it 3/5 stars. The staff are fantastic, caring, intelligent people who I like very much. They are just the very best part about this place. The people who go to this gym are great. Real nice, down-to-earth people who are friendly and smile while wishing you a good day - and they mean it.I've gone to this gym on and off since I was 5 years old ...over 25 years. During that time the roof has sprung multiple leaks and none of them have been fixed. Sure, they have been patched and fussed over - no fixes. The roof is a point of serious issue. Many times per year a serious leak will pop up and close down small portions of this facility.Today (mid summer) a light fixture that was anchored into a spot on the ceiling that had an obvious water damage fell onto a machine in the dead center of the workout room. The staff did an admirable job of keeping patrons safe and working hard to fix the issue. My point is this. The owner of this place doesn't care about this facility. They accept medicare/social security patrons of some variety and therefore are not concerned about staying competitive with other local gyms. The cost of membership is quite high considering how often the building tends to fall apart.I really love this gym and will continue to be a member as long as I can. I just hope that they owner decides to do something serious about the long-term safety of the members here.
