I have been a member to many other facilities but I really like the bear YMCA. The classes are amazing (body pump, body combat, GRIT, HIIT and spin to name a few) and so are the instructors. With having two kids child care is a must with being able to get a workout in.

If you're joining for the outdoor pool like us, it's not worth it if you're working during the week. The Y has no limit on guests and the pool is so packed on the weekend. I think it would be more fair to members who pay, if the Y limited guests or regulated the number of people they allow in the pool. Other than the outdoor pool the facility is fantastic.

I like the fact they aren't just sitting around and they are changing the activities everyday. Depending on the weather they will take the kids outside and get some air. Also I appreciate the fact they have the kids active not only with their bodies, but also with their minds. Helping with homework and doing mental exercises. And during the before and after care I appreciate the staff that comes to the school. They are very professional and don't seem to show favoritism and actually show that they care for your child and their safety.

Front desk I had experience with NOT nice at all. Asked to sign me up for specific day (repeated 3 times) guess what she signed me up for absolutely different day and after I pointed out her mistake she gave me attitude. Well...I'm sorry but that's ur job!Swim classes teachers instead of bouncing my child from one class to another because he doesn't listen may be better to find a special way of communication instead.Yoga classes and gym r good.

Unorganized with so much potential. Uses paper schedules that triumph technology and applications use through the YMCA.I think it's a waste of money to use and have YMCA application.Example time shows open 10am. Real time open 0800.Example spin class on sheet of paper starts 0930. YMCA Bear Delaware Application shows 10am.Showed up on time. Class was 30 minutes underway due to paper schedule change.Full paying members including additional donations to support the YMCA. Several months out of the year do not go but pay dues to support the YMCA.As a YMCA member I expect more on the basic schedule and being able to use the app.

Great facility to work out very family friendly.Hour's are perfect even for the busy working professional. Even when the gym is crowded you can get a decent work out. Its also clean.

I've been coming here off and on for the last couple of years. It was great when it began, but over the last year it has become so incredibly busy that at certain times of the day there's little breathing room (I work full time and cannot come during the slow times). I am also upset because when my debit card changed numbers (I got a new one with the chip technology) I tried to call multiple times and no one answered. I left a voicemail and no one got back to me. I called and was transferred to membership where I waited on hold for 6 minutes before giving up. That's unacceptable and confusing because the staff is always so nice when you actually go to the gym. I understand if the offices are busy, but I also don't have all the free time in the world to keep calling over and over until someone answers me.

When I first started working out at the y I alternated from land classes to water classes 5 days a week. It was good for my fibromyalgia, arthritis & hip replacement, along with weight lose. It is hard to get started on a schedule but I stuck with it and had a great schedule. Then summer comes along & my swim classes are gone .They want to accommodate summer customers Well now some of the classes I took are only offered once a week &,they completely took away the deep water workout time in the afternoon. It seems they just are more concerned about that "more money" attitude rather then keeping their regulars. I only see 2 women who were regulars like I was. I got frustrated and quit but I kept coming back, but today I have quit for good. Maybe they'll hire me & I won't have to pay the ever rising monthly fees.

I really like this gym but I can't give it 5 stars because of a few issues which has decreased my enjoyment. The first is a lack of communication. When classes are cancelled we sometimes get text messages about it but not always. On top of that, when they adjust the calendar, ie: for Spring Break, they don't post the changes on the Facebook page nor on the bulletin board in the locker room. This means you can get already and be in the pool waiting and not understand why your class isn't being held. The other reason is that the classrooms are too small for their classes. Their Zumba classes are held in a room with no limit to how many people can attend. Most of the time there is not enough room to fully participate in the class. Instead of going full out one has to work around not hitting other people or being hit. It should also be noted that people in the Zumba classes can be rude, defensive, and lack the common courtesy normal found in group classes. It would also be nice if there were more class offerings.

This is honestly an amazing place and an amazing gym. Definitely a polite, family atmosphere. There's plenty of machines to pick from so you don't have to worry about waiting. Front desk people were always friendly. The only reason I wouldn't give the Y five stars is because of cost. I understand it's the Y and it's the best Y in the area. However, I felt my "college discount" of $40 a month was way too much. The discount came with access to the entire gym, pool and classes but I only wanted a membership for the gym. The rest was unnecessary for me to use, but there's no option to elect to have a membership for just the gym like other gyms have.
