Empire / Alan is determined to help you succeed, to achieve your physical goals and carry those benefits into other aspects of your life. He motivates, supports, informs, and challenges you in class, and through emails. Alan is a constant learner himself, always striving to self improve, and then to help us! Class is not boring - using different equipment and exercises.

Love the Krav class! I am an inexperienced beginner and totally blown away by how welcoming everyone is at empire. I feel my confidence and strength grow with each class! Great work out while your gaining skills that could save your life all while having a good time. Can't beat it!

Empire Martial Arts is okay. I've been to a lot of gyms, and it's certainly better than a few I've seen, but also doesn't really stand out to me as a place I'd very eagerly recommend. The people are friendly, and the instructors will take time to walk new students through what they need to know to get them on their feet, so you aren't likely to go too wrong.A couple things worth noting:* Unlike every other gym I've encountered, Empire does not offer a free class to test them out. If you want to participate, you must pay and sign a contract first. This was a HUGE red flag for me, and my very biggest objection to the gym. Experiencing the culture, students and instructors first-hand is a major factor in determining whether a gym is a good fit for me, as well it should be for you.* Empire has a belt system that is different than the rest of the bjj community. A two-stripe white belt becomes a "yellow belt", which is a demarcation that no other gym uses. I'm not sure it's all that useful of an addition, either. Other gyms frown on this.* Prior to hitting "yellow belt", you are not allowed to do any live rolling with other students. You can still do light drilling, but once that's over, your class has ended (even though higher ranking students may continue). There are a few positives of this rule, but it will also hamper your early progress very significantly. Live rolling is absolutely essential for learning bjj.* The price is slightly higher than other gyms in the area.Again, it's worth stressing that everyone is very friendly, and if the location is convenient for you, I'd say it might be worth a shot. If you have the option of another bjj gym, however, I'd go with that one instead.

I signed up for the fitness class because I was bored with regular aerobic exercise. The 30 minute F.I.T. class they offer is bar none. I'm challenged every class as it is never the same. Alan and Kevin are there to encourage you to challenge yourself and I consistently improved in endurance, weight and reps. After only a month of attending, I had visible results of increased muscle definition and inches of my whole body. I highly recommend this studio

I have been with Empire for 10 months now. I started with the Krav Maga classes. In the Krav classes I was able to increase my ability and confidence with respect to self-defense. I was happy to find that the classes are led by Alan, the owner. I was concerned that the classes may be led by more experienced Krav students which was not the case. Alan provides guidance and direction throughout the class. The Krav classes are cardio intensive and strengthen the core. Through 10 months of Krav I strengthened my midsection and lost 5 inches on my waist. And yes, I do keep records of body measurements :-). Recently, I have transitioned over to the Muay Thai classes for a greater focus on stand-up combatives. I have been very happy with my experience at Empire.

Alan and Kevin are great teachers. They keep it real and push you hard . You get close supervision and instant feedback during your class. They pay attention to details of self defense and stress overall fitness , nutrition, and positive mindset. You can also pay monthly which is a big plus . Highly recommend their classes!

My wife and I were bored of the typical gym classes, so we decided to try something different and step out of our comfort zone. We tried the Krav Maga intro class and were immediately intrigued with the workout/techniques and decided to give Empire a shot. We thought we’d be there only a month or two, Heck No… On the contrary 6+ years later we are STILL there Learning and Loving every minute. We have found an addictive workout that keeps you wanting more… We release our daily stress, build conditioning, shed excess weight, all while having fun in a great family/community environment. The support from instructors are inviting and always willing to help out, all without EGO’s to contend with as others gyms. The instructors will demonstrate life saving techniques that are easy to learn, and can be applied to many situations should you ever need to rely on them. Hopefully you will never need to use the techniques(nothing wrong with being prepared), but they are practical, intuitive, and will become second nature in no time. This is not just a martial arts gym but a community of great people and now family. If you are looking for something enticing with a great learning environment I suggest you give Empire Martial Arts a try.You will not be disappointed, but pleasantly surprised.

Thank you Empire Martial Arts for helping me to continue building muscle into my 40s. I am stronger than ever. I had knee surgery 1.5 years ago and because of the strength training I had done my recovery was far shorter than average. Also, Alan made it possible to get back to working out very shortly after surgery by tailoring my program to work around my recovering knee. If you are serious about working out, Empire Martial Arts is serious about working with you.

I joined the beginner Krav Maga class at Empire just over two months ago and have never been more excited to exercise!! Thank you to Alan and the Empire Team for making me feel welcome from the start and for providing a fun, encouraging, and challenging setting to help me reach my fitness goals!! 😊 …
