Advantage Personal Training is the trifecta of mind, body and overall wellness. I'm pretty sure the coaches (Evan, Josie, Eric & Brian) work with the moto "achieve your greatness". They are knowledgable, professional and good people. After a challenging year with the pandemic, Advantage respected the EO while still providing its membership with safe options so that we could continue to meet our fitness goals. I'm so grateful that Brian created Advantage. Working out at Advantage has sustained and supported my fitness goals. Thanks Advantage! What you do is beyond valuable.

Coach Brian and his staff (Evan and Erik!) helped me on a journey to lose 90 pounds, recover from two knee surgeries, run my fastest 5k, run a full marathon, and honestly just know my body better and feel tons better all around. There is a terrific sense of support and community at Advantage and a constant curiosity that keeps everyone very informed. You have the sense that someone is looking out for you and you aren't alone. I can't imagine a better place.

What an amazing place! The emphasis is on Personal (without paying excessive personal trainer’s fees)! Before I joined few years ago, I wasn’t fully convinced that this small, private gym could be any different from any other gym out there. I thought I would give it a try for a month and see after that. I wasn’t after anything in particular when I joined, just needed a change of scenery from all other exercise programs I was into at the moment. Sure enough, I received tons of personal attention which I attributed to being a new member. Several years into my membership – the amount of attention to my well-being is still exceptional.I realized right away that Brian and his team of coaches use an individualized approach based on each person’s needs and abilities (physical and mental) to create an adaptive exercise program. Having a team of highly trained professionals in my corner allowed me to stay active and make a much faster recovery from the multiple reconstructive joint surgeries that I've had over the last few years. The most immediate effect that you feel upon joining is that the entire staff cares about you and is invested in your well-being. The coaching does not start when you show up nor does it stop when you leave. There is a sense of community and accountability that includes both coaches and members. This is not a work-out that you dread getting to because you feel you need to. This is the place you want to be, the place I very much look forward to coming each day after work. And if you want to start your day at the gym, the scheduling flexibility allows that as well. It is adapted to any work and lifestyle. This last year of COVID restrictions proved just that. While being stuck at home, as everybody else was this past year, I was afraid that it would have a huge negative effect on my physical well being. Advantage Strength's flexibility in adapting and adhering to all health restrictions while making sure all members continue to benefit from daily workouts, has been exceptional.I know for sure, I will not be looking for another gym for years to come 😊

I’ve been a member for 8 years now, and I’ve remained because Brian and his team bring a level of expertise and professionalism not available in any other gym in the area of which I’m aware. They’ve really shown their true mettle since the “March 2020 shutdown”, putting our good health and continued safety at the highest priority all the while being nimble enough to still bring their programs to us, whether outdoors or inside the gym when permitted. Kudos and continued success!

I've been a member now going on my fourth year. Wow - that long? Brian and his team got me to turn the corner from a less than occasional gym goer to truly making it my routine. Now I feel off if I miss a day or two. Its a professional environment with great, attentive coaches focused on goals and challenges and making it a place I look forward to going to nearly every day. This past year I give the team a lot of credit for their creativity in making the gym work (i.e. outside under the tent!). Perhaps it'll be back...?

I’ve been a member of Advantage for 3 plus years and I honestly can say I’m in the best shape of my adult life, something my physician thankfully validated during my annual exam a few months back!I’m stronger than ever, which has helped me crush drives on the golf course, also to the delight of my other half, carry a ton of bags to the car every time we trek to the grocery store.I was not a gym guy when I joined Advantage, but I honestly now look forward to going to the gym, also am bummed out whenever something comes up, that causes me to miss a session. The Advantage trainers are 1st class, attentive, responsive, always working closely with members to create varying routines to best meet individual needs and to keep things interesting.Covid has thrown curve balls at everyone. After gyms were forced to scale back, Advantage never missed a beat, via offering outside training, online training to support and encourage everyone to stay active and eat healthy during these very stressful times.Advantage was a great find, absolutely no regrets!

I first started attending Advantage with my Ann Arbor Rowing teammates for winter training nearly 5 years ago and I've stuck with it individually ever since. Not only has it helped me as an athlete, but I use it everyday at home and at work. Whether it's the way I shovel (like a med ball scoop throw) or carrying my photography equipment (like a kettlebell farmer's carry), the folks at Advantage have taught me the safe way to exercise which has translated to fewer injuries in my daily activities. I'm the strongest I've ever been at the age of 50 because of Advantage. I'm so grateful to them and the good energy they bring. Highly recommend! :)

I have been training with Advantage for two years now. When I started Brian assessed my needs thoroughly. I had some major areas for improvement that had made strength training difficult in the past. The exercises given were highly personalized to help me gain mobility and strength and move past these physical issues. If I ever had trouble doing an exercise it was quickly and simply modified. My functioning has improved by leaps and bounds and is limited only by the amount of effort I put into doing the exercises they have given me. :) Brian and all his staff are all extremely knowledgeable about functional strength and I have seem them work successfully with people of all ages and abilities, adapting programs for all from elite athletes to people who are coming off the couch and just want to be able to keep up with their kids. When COVID shut down the gyms in 2020, they quickly pivoted their programming to online zoom classes, and then when able opened again with a distanced version of the original program, as well as an option for virtual only personal training. The community atmosphere that has been a big part of Advantage since the beginning is now shared via an active Facebook page for all members. Brian and his staff care deeply for their clients and the local community as well and it shows. My daughter who is an elite high school aged athlete has been training also through the performance program. This work has improved her performance and has helped reduce her risk of injury. She has mentioned that her team coach has noticed how much stronger she is, and her speed and conditioning have been continuously improving, and in turn her confidence and yes, performance. Having her start at Advantage has been an excellent choice for her.In summary, if you want a training program that will adapt to your needs, and a community to support you in working toward your goals, Advantage is a great place to find it!

My family has been using services of Advantage for many years. I like how they have supported my goals as they have evolved. They have incorporated into my strength training all the elements of my physical therapy programs, and I have been pain free for some time. You get out of out whatever you put into it, and Advantage does a nice job adapting to your personal goals. The team is kind, intelligent and genuine. They clearly enjoy what they do and their enthusiasm is wonderful.

Here's a long review, but you can save yourself time and just go in and give Advantage a try. They will meet you where you are at and set up a path to make it to your goals. If you want more details, read on.My family has been part of Advantage for almost 4 years. We were first attracted by the programs for kids, but quickly realized it made sense for the adults in the house. I had been strength training at home for years, but definitely hit a plateau and was getting almost nothing out of it. But I had tried gyms and the Y in the past and really did not like them.Advantage is so different - the exercises are functional and constantly changing - but also my workout plan is designed for progression, not just random new exercises of the week (which is what happens at some gyms I have tried). Having sleds to push and walls to slam medicine balls off creates a workout you can't get at home, but more important is the watchful eye of the trainers. When things are going well, they help me push to the next level. When I have an injury to nurse (from doing things outside the gym or a flare up of one of my "nagging" injuries), they help me work around it and rehab so that it is less likely to recur. for example, I have gone from thinking strength training means my knee will hurt to understanding my well designed fitness program is what stops my knee from hurting. For me, it is the perfect mix of a gym with structure and being able to make it what I want it to be. And their service is not just in the gym. In the past when I traveled they would check the facilities where I was staying and provide me a workout (on one trip with my kid's soccer team some of the other parents copied the workout they designed because it made such a great use of the facilities in such a fun way). During the pandemic and physical shutdowns, the personal touch has been there. They helped me figure out what home equipment to add, designed workouts for me (and monitored them to make changes on a regular basis after talking with me about how things are going) and even loaned my family equipment. The most amazing thing to me is how Advantage works for each person - many of who are coming from different backgrounds and with different preferences, goals and fitness conditions. I enjoy strength training and like to focus on the exercises when working out. I chat with people before and after, but am able to do the workout in my own "zone". Plenty of others there do the same. The Advantage trainers also noticed I am not as good at pushing myself on cardio or mobility, so they work that in and make sure I get it (I even started to look forward to it). My wife has never liked strength training, but Advantage created a community that made it work and helps her set goals. They interact throughout the workout with each other, encouraging and enjoying the company (and have become friends that interact outside the workouts as well). Not only did she met her ever increasing goals (crushing to full sets of pullups in less than 6 weeks from not being able to do one for example - all based on a program one of the trainers created when she said it was a goal), but she shared that with others and received regular encouragement from the group. Whatever you need, they design the program that gets you there in a way that works for you. The personal touch means all types of people can benefit from Advantage - it just depends on what you want.
