Coming from the UGA athletic facility in Athens, GA, this place is the only gym in Marietta that can come close. I used to be a member when I was teaching at Southern Polytechnic State University (now Kennesaw), and they gave me a teacher's discount, which brought my monthly rate to $96/month. While expensive, I found it was mostly worthwhile. I'd say $70-$80/month would be more fair for what you get here, since most of their other services cost extra money anyways.I moved out of Georgia for a while, so I had to cancel my membership. When I returned to Georgia, I went to inquire about rejoining. They said they did away with the teacher's discount and that the price would be $120/month. On top of that being too much, I didn't really see the logic in losing a previous customer over a discount that was perfectly fine to give a couple years prior. I decided not to rejoin, but they continued calling for at least a month, if not longer. They wanted my business bad enough to call almost every day, but not bad enough to give me the same rate I used to pay. Strange, I thought.Honestly, it's a nice place, and probably the best you can do aside from building your own home gym. But if you go visit, be aware that they are very high pressure in their sales tactics (I suppose this applies to most gyms). As it turned out, I joined the local LA Fitness for $25/month. It's not as nice, but I can't justify the rates of Windy Hill/Midtown Athletic club. If you have plenty of money to burn and $120/month is nothing you'll miss, then I say join. I would if money were no object.

My wife and I were quoted $200 per month for the "couples" rate - which is incredibly expensive. On top of that - a 12 month contract is required. So basically you are locked in for $2400 if you join. This compared with 60$ per month we pay for LA Fitness membership that is month to month. So at over 3x the price, we were expecting extremely courteous service and amazing benefits. They love to say over and over that they are "incomparable to La fitness. We are a lifestyle change" I'm sorry guys, but from what I saw you are a (very nice) gym with a tennis court. So the club: Definitely nice. Extra basketball courts and more equipment. The staff: Very friendly staff but I had an awful experience with their management. The manager helping us asked my wife and I (with no contextual reason) what we did for a living, maybe to determine if we could afford the membership. I think she needs some customer service training, because the conversation yielded a prententious tone of "are you guys seriously interested in joining" combined with a condescending comment at the end saying that we weren't welcomed in the gym for the rest of the year since we decided not to join and had visited the club 3 times. Don't worry, we won't be back. She said there is a policy that non member guests can't come to the club more than 3 days per year. I guess they expect guests to be able to make a commitment on whether they will pay $2400 for a gym membership after only 3 days of trial. They say "all inclusive" but that's really false. There are lots of things that cost money there that is not "included"My experience with Windy hill leaves me bewildered. I'm left wondering what really justifies their price tag -Is it the ability to use tennis courts (which almost everyone who can afford membership probably lives in a neighborhood where they have them already),Is it the weight lifting equipment (yes it is "newer" than LA fitness, but they function the same). Can't be the extra basketball courts because those are always almost empty (as was the entire gym each time we visited).LA fitness, while not great, has almost everything this place has (except for tennis courts and towels). The real unfortunate thing about this club is that we would seriously consider joining if it was less expensive. And from what we saw from our limited experience there was nothing that justify 3.2x cost. That combined with our poor interaction with their management led us to decline joining this club.

Other than the TWENTY-FIVE DOLLAR cost of a day pass, this is a great gym with all the amenities. The Box was being renovated so all the weights are either on the turf or in the free-weight room. There is little trouble getting on equipment or benches. All seems to be in good order with many options for every type of workout. The pool looks clean and inviting. The staff is friendly if not helpful. The cafe has just about anything you could want after getting your exercise in, including beer. If you're from out of town and wish to go here make sure your hotel has an agreement with them or it will cost you a Whopping TWENTY-FIVE smackers! I for one will use it again provided I'm staying in the right hotel. In retrospect this place is much like a country club sans golf course.

Myself and my partner have now been a member for about six months at Windy Hill Athletic Club, after leaving World Gym of Smyrna. Needless to say, we are both still impressed by the extremely friendly staff and the newly renovated facilities. Now I must admit that two years ago we tried out this gym on a guest pass, then called Midtown Athletic Club, and walked away unimpressed by the age of the workout equipment and locker rooms. However, after reading recent Yelp reviews about the renovations, we had to check it. They have enhanced the entire place through simple but well thought out updates and new equipment pretty much throughout. The thing we love the most is the club is always busy but never feels crowded. With fitness spaces designed with functional workout areas, it keeps people busy all over the second and third floors, but never in one area. For those who enjoy circuit training, you can still get your workouts in, but you will have to move around the facility ( which, hey isn't that the point... to move around and be more active?) To date, I have not had to wait for a single piece of equipment, even at 7 pm on a Monday night ( avid Gym goers know that is prime time). Plus, if you enjoy free weights and machines, you will enjoy the new memory foam benches and equipment. It takes the strain off your lower back and other areas as you focus on a core muscle group. You will notice a difference! Finally, for those of you who are concerned about the price of membership... add up the cost for you to access group power, spin classes, yoga classes, TRX bands, basketball courts, indoor/outdoor pools, Spa facilities, rock climbing walls, tennis courts, towel service, etc... When you do the math, you will understand you get value for the cost of membership

WHAC has almost everything you could want from a fitness club. Tennis, basketball, squash, swimming, rock climbing, sand volleyball, outdoor pool, cardio, boxing, cross fit, yoga, group classes, free weights, indoor track, and more. I love the steam room with eucalyptus in the locker room. The staff and management is very friendly and they make an effort to learn your name. I wish they would make more of an effort to keep the basketball court mopped because it can be slick. The sand volleyball court needs about an extra foot of sand and nets around it to contain the ball.

After the recent (summer 2015) facelift, this is a really well-equipped gym. All of the resistance/weight equipment is brand new and state of the art. I've never seen most of the new machines they bought, and they really do recruit a lot of stabilizing muscles. Bravo. A decent selection of group fitness classes are included in your membership. Cool. The membership hike of 30% to $130 ($140 if you want to play squash) is outrageous. Especially considering that you can't bring guests in and you have to pay hourly on top of the membership fees to play tennis in the dome. The gym clientele has been pruned somewhat by the fee hike, and it has diminished the wonderful squash community (one of the major draws when I first joined) by half. Considering the mediocre locker room facilities (mold on the shower ceilings as always, steam room always experiencing dysfunction and covered in melting hot glue or slime, hot tub cloudy and brown) undersized pools, and limited benefit I have reaped from the other upgrades, I have to say that management miscalculated when they performed the renovations. Lifetime Fitness in Sandy Springs is now a *far* better value for the money, and I'll be taking my business elsewhere in the new year.In summary: Pleasing to the eye, but not to the heart or wallet.

The staff is amazing at this club you will never experience staff quality of this caliber at any other gym/club.The pros of this place:- Great size basketball court- An abundance of showers- A ton areas to work with weights- Tennis Courts are great- food here is also pretty goodJust one con- the construction in the area, but that's not their fault.

I joined this club a few month ago and have been pleased so far. I like the layout being broken up into four areas. It doesn't feel crowded that way. The place is always clean, but some men are pigs and some of these pigs throw their towels on the floor or leave them in the steam room. Fortunately the cleaning staff is on it and is constantly picking up towels. I love that this club offers food and drinks (wine and beer). The food is pretty decent. I only wish it was for adults only, but it's not too bad seeing some kids now and then. I guess if you have kids you will appreciate it more.I also wish they were open til 11pm. They close at 10pm.

This is not your average gym. It's targeted to the discerning gym customer looking for a high-end experience. It has all of the amenities you'd expect along with a few you wouldn't: A snack bar serving cold and hot foods, separate wet areas for men and women (showers, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam), spacious locker rooms, inside and outside pools, kids' daycare, etc. If you're a tennis lover, you'll be in heaven. If you prefer other activities, you'll find plenty to do as well, including weights, basketball, racquetball and a variety of classes taught by first-rate instructors. If you're looking for the typical low-end, $30-a-month gym packed with people waiting for machines, this isn't the place for you. But if you're willing to spend a bit more for a far better experience, you'll enjoy Midtown Athletic Club.

This is a great club! The staff is always smiling and helpful. I have read a couple of reviews here that seem to indicate that the staff do not care about their members--I have no idea what those reviewers are talking about. Both my wife, my children and I are always treated well by staff-members. The place is very clean; you can nearly always run into one of their cleaning staff making their rounds, checking that everything is in tip-top shape. The equipment is plentiful, and of a wide variety. The pools are well kept, and my two young sons can usually count on there being other children to play with in the outdoor pool. The club is in a renovated airplane hangar, I believe, and it has an open, sunny feel to it. There are several seating areas, including the snack bar. All of the cardio machines have their own television monitor, with headphone jacks. During the winter, the tennis courts are covered with domes so that you can still play. If you are looking for a place to work out, hang out, or just chill out (they also have massage) you can't do better than Midtown.
