Staff is awful. Rude. Hypocritical. Single people out for “rules” while staff doesn’t even follow them. What a joke of a company

I had the Batavia X-Sport membership for a month. Not very clean; some of equipment is broken; and my time with a personal trainer was meaningful. However, my negative experience comes mainly from the cancellation process. After three weeks, I asked the manager (in person) to cancel. She told me that it’s done, though I did not get any written or email confirmations. Three weeks later I found that my credit card has been charged by X-Sport again. I tried to find out why over the phone but was told to talk to the lady who “cancelled” (but she was sick for a week) or call the customer service. Two attempts to call the customer service were unsuccessful (no response after 20 min of waiting), so I went to the X-Sport in person. On the second attempt, I found the general manager who explained me that there are no any indications of my cancellation request in their files, so they have charged me additional monthly fee and a annual fee (that had never been mentioned to me). The lady was still sick, and I had no proof of my previous cancellation request. So, the only recommendation about reimbursement was again to call the customer service, which I already found to be inaccessible. This time, I waited in the facility until the manager sent me a cancellation confirmation email. All in all, my time with X-Sport ended up being very expensive, both in terms of money and efforts spent for cancellation. I still do not know how one can find in advance about all hidden fees and the cancellation procedure.Later update: without any additional efforts from me, in a couple of weeks after the "final cancellation", my credit card received return from X-Sport for the yearly fee and two monthly fees. So, money - wise, everything is fair. My case might be just a mishap. I am changing rating from 1 star to 3.

Called to cancel and they said I have to come in. Really lame. It’s ironic because I’m sure if I went there daily without a membership they would be more than happy to get that figured out over a phone call. I understand the business model behind it though. People are too lazy to go in so they say ah screw it I’ll keep paying in case I go in. Just really shady practice. If I were their bartender I’d charge them for 5 drinks they didn’t order and very politely of course say “ oh my bad dude! Come on over to my house after work and grab the refund!”

I joined with the basic membership then when I realized I can’t bring a guest I canceled right away before the annual fee date. I am still getting charged the monthly fee and got charged the annual fee. I contacted them asking what to do and all they could say is call corporate. I have been trying the number and it wasn’t working now I’m on hold and it’s been an hour now. I wish the staff was more professional and didn’t talk down to me because I’m younger. Also are not following covid protocols. Would not recommend.

“MONICA” Openly discussed my membership, not professional or considerate. I have automatic payment deductions every month for my account, and for some reason a glitch happened. She would not allow me to enter the gym, even as a guest!! Unbelievable I have never met anyone so rude in my years of being a member with Xsport. I had to drive 12 miles to Xsport Naperville, and they gladly let me in as a guest, without being rude and openly discussing my account. I will continue my business with Naperville, never again with Batavia , as long as “MONICA” is there!!

Friendly staff, back to 24 hours, great diversity of equipment, never too crowded. The only thing I wish it had was larger locker rooms and a steam room like the State Street location in Chicago.

Just got off the phone with a rep. While he wasn't rude he sounded completely apathetic about the services of this location and was talking about the services like I worked there and knew everything about it. I don't know about the physical gym in itself but the rep I spoke to sounded like this place is bird seeds. He didn't even try to interest me in coming.

Ridiculously complicated, specific, and annoying cancellation process. I could not easily find the cancellation instructions anywhere on the Xsport website, so I had to google it. Turns out you have to mail in to their headquarters to cancel your membership, but they will only accept certified or registered mail which costs extra $$ to send. Horrible customer service. Wish they would let their customers just cancel online or even over the phone. They will scam you however they can find a way. Disappointing
