Archetype is a new hidden gem in the boxing community in Austin. This gym integrates knowledgeable and fun coaches with a truly unique class format. I've tried out many different boxing gyms in multiple cities/states and its always a mix of ... you walk in on your second day and is thrown into a sparring session orrrr... one coach yells instructions to a class of 30 people and then walks around as people do circuits. At Archetype, there are multiple coaches that focus on a specific part of the exercise wether its bag work or partner drills in the ring. Its like you're getting a semi private lesson regardless of how many people are in the class! The lessons, while following a certain theme, are also changed daily so regular members are constantly challenged with new techniques and combinations. I think this is a great workout for people with or without boxing experience. From the classes I have been able to attend so far It is the smallest things that make the biggest difference. The coaches remember your names, they ask about your hobbies, they care about your growth. The members don't have egos, they introduce themselves and help each other out. The facility is clean and well kept. Overall it has been a fantastic experience training here.

After getting jumped by a group of 7-9 year old Girl Scouts, I knew I needed to build my confidence and find a fitness outlet that would give me the tools to defend myself.I gave Archetype a try, and I'm so glad I did. Natalie, Tyson, and Sean are all fantastic coaches. They make you feel welcomed immediately, they're exceptional teachers, and they're great people.Every class is a great workout, and it's been awesome to learn something totally new to me. If you're thinking about trying out a class, you won't regret it. Don't worry about being a beginner, from day 1, the instruction is personalized and you learn at your own pace.I can say with confidence that I'll be ready for the next troop of Girl Scouts that tries to rob me. Thank you, Archetype team!

Archetype is fantastic and my new favorite workout. It's as tough of a workout as you want to make it, which caters towards any fitness level and generally allows for modifications. The owner/instructors are all super knowledgeable, hands-on, and friendly, so fully feel free to walk in with zero experience and get plenty of help. That to say, if you have experience, they're powerhouses and will tweak you're already-rocking-style, no doubt. I find the entire atmosphere welcoming, fun, and empowering. What to expect? The workout consists of a warmup with body movements, such as pushups, squats, lunges, jump rope, etc., and is followed by three rotations: heavy bag, speed bag, and partner work in the ring (no, you're not going to get punched in the face!)The 45 minute class goes by really quickly. I'm always drenched in sweat; it's effective cardio that is actually fun/stress-relieving, powerful. It will leave you wondering how you ever did monotonous cardio machines.Come for a drop-in class and you'll be hooked...ha!

While in Austin I found Archetype Boxing Club. It was a great place, looked good and felt good. This is probably the best merger of fitness and true boxing I've experienced. It's smart, convenient, and still boxing.

The team is so welcoming and encouraging. As someone completely new to boxing, it was incredibly intimidating to go to my first class. But, there is no judgement and they deeply are rooting for you to succeed. It’s an incredible work out and going to class is becoming one of my favorite parts of my week.

I had a great experience at my first boxing session. The coaches are friendly and do a great job explaining the technique/ basics to beginners. We worked the speed bag, double end bag, and heavy bag - the equipment is A-1. By the end I was taxed and felt accomplished. If you're reading this, join a class already.

Awesome and fun place to get a great workout! Sean and Tyson are super knowledgeable and do a great job giving everyone personal attention and correcting form. Natalie is a pocket pitbull - don’t let her size fool you she is a beast! And Cory seemed to be my personal hype coach, kept me going when I wanted to give up and kept my attitude in check. Good job guys , ever move to Chicago I’ll be your first client !
