Thoughtful, friendly, and helpful staff. New and ample equipment. Clean facilities on the floor and in the locker room. Attendees largely keep to themselves. If I could ask for anything, it would be more squat racks, but I’ve never not wanted that anywhere.

Worst experience I had with a gym. They made you pay a premium price but hide fees if you want to cancel your subscription. I injured myself the first day and never got a chance to come back. Now they ask me to pay a cancellation fee. I didn't enjoy this experience. I regret ever coming there.

Extremely disappointing experience. Not a good place anymore after Brook Roba left in March.I was initially in touch with Brook Roba in January 2022. He was super warm and gave me a very positive impression of the gym, so when I decided to work out with a personal trainer during the summer Equinox was the name that came to my mind. I scheduled a trial session with a trainer at 9 am. I even brought my credit card with me so that I could purchase a personal training session right after the trial session if things went reasonably well. To my surprise, the trainer didn't show up for the whole session and the staff kept me waiting there for almost an hour until I got really disappointed and left (while I was waiting there the staff told me the trainer was right inside the gym but was "busy with other stuff")Three hours later after I left the manager called, apologized and asked me to reschedule. After I rescheduled they told me I need to pay the monthly fee and become a member first before doing the trial session (definitely not consistent with what they said initially) ... Throughout the process the staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. Overall super disappointing experience!

I’ve been a member at Equinox Berkeley since 2019 and always had a very positive experience there. I first came into Equinox and spoke with Brook, a membership advisor, about joining. Brook was extremely personable and was able to answer all my initial questions about joining. He made me feel super confident about the decision to join and continues to always make a point to say hi to me whenever I come in. Definitely speak with Brook about joining if you’re thinking about it! The gym itself is great and extremely clean, which has become increasingly important throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Workout rooms, locker rooms, and equipment are constantly wiped down by the cleaning staff (they’re really amazing!) making me feel safe while working out. The locker rooms are definitely as nice as everyone says — you may end up liking the showers there more than at your home hahaha. Equinox provides Kiehl’s products for members to use in the showers and afterwards (lotions and such). While the Equinox Berkeley location is on the smaller side, it has most of the equipment you would want. This location also has an Earth Bar in house for post workout protein smoothies that are delicious. While the amenities at Equinox Berkeley are fantastic, the best part of the gym is the staff! As I mentioned, Brook made me feel so welcome in the beginning and the majority of the Equinox’s team has continued to make me feel that way. I’d highly recommend training with Kristi (athletic conditioning in particular) and/or Omar (especially for boxing). I’ve had experience training with both trainers and they’re both really knowledgeable and fun to talk to! Before working with Kristi, I could barely figure out my way around a gym (exclusively used cardio machines, yikes) and i now feel confident making my own workouts using gym equipment. Boxing with Omar has been great — not only has he helped make me feel stronger, but I’ve also never had a session where I didn’t laugh hysterically (he makes working out so fun I swear). Overall, I’d highly recommend getting a membership at Equinox (I promise it’s worth the price!). But at the very least definitely check it out if you’re thinking about it :)

I would like to say again that Equinox far exceeds my expectations. The staff are wonderful and sweet people who will go the extra mile to help their clients in need. As I am getting ready to go on a business trip overseas, Sydney the assistant general manager was able to help me to freeze my account until my return. Berkeley is super lucky to have this type of business with an amazing staff and management.

It's a very well maintained, spacious gym that has all the equipments and weights that you would need. They have really set the standard when it comes to maintenance. The team is working constantly across the whole facility, making sure every nook and corner is spanking clean and fresh. The membership team is very friendly. The gym gets busy only in the evenings, between 5 to 7. But not too busy that you will be waiting hours in line for machines or weights. Parking is available, but can involve a bit of a wait if turning up during peak hours. The group classes are good. I wish use of the pilates reformer was included in the membership. This particular branch does not have any sports courts or a swimming pool. The closest comparable alternate in terms of pricing is the BayClub. But they don't have a facility in this area.

Equinox is a wonderful, high quality and clean gym. My personal trainer Hailee is super nice with a very good attitude and is very patient and listens to all of your body needs. She will ask you questions to know what your body exactly needs. I highly recommend to go to her and you will be in good hands. She's very smart, nice and patient and you will see good results fast and quick. Within 3 days, my body feels much better!

This is a great gym with endless machines and space to stretch. It is so clean too! I love the products in the shower (can't beat kiehl's!). I have been using guest passes this week and am seriously considering membership. The only thing holding me back is the one year commitment!

Extremely clean, not overly crowded, and the equipment is in good condition. The classes are great, led by very effective and encouraging teachers. My favorite thing about this gym is that they have everything you need. In the locker rooms they have towels, tampons & pads, mouthwash, hair ties, nice shampoo/conditioner/body & face wash in the showers, vanities with lotions, hairspray, cotton swabs, deodorant, etc. Plus the lockers have built in combo locks. Just show up with your shoes and you'll be good to go. It's a luxury gym so it's more expensive than most, but to me it's worth it if I can afford it because I know I'll always be comfortable and more likely to want to go.
