As a drop-in, everyone from the staff, coaches, and students were incredibly welcoming. Eager to share knowledge and encourage effort during demanding live rolls. Highly recommend, whether you're in the Boston area or just visiting, trying it for the first time or tenured in the sport.

TL:DR- Top notch BJJ instruction- Welcoming environment- Good mix in skill level and genders- Highly recommend for local Bostonians and visitorsReview:- Broadway BJJ is a great gym for both competitors, hobbyists, folks interested in learning self defense, and folks interested in getting fit. Highly recommend this place for locals and visitors.- I’m a BJJ purple belt at Daniel Gracie BJJ in Philadelphia. Previously trained at Renzo Gracie Academy in NYC and Brooklyn.- Spent 3 days training gi and nogi at Broadway BJJ.- Welcoming environment. On my first day, one of the black belt instructors gave me a quick tour of the gym and introduced me to other students. Cool vibe from day one.- Great mix of skill level from white to black belts. The 6pm class is huge - lots of students and partners to train with. The noon class had between 5-10 ppl when I trained.- High quality instruction - coaches teach details. I really liked the emphasis on positional training - I’ve always held the opinion that this is the best way to progress so their teaching method resonated with me.- Good mix of live rolls - some start from specific position. Some from feet - competition style. Some are situation specific - start with negative points and have limited time to score and win.- Coach guides their students but allows their advanced students to direct their own learning. In the advanced class, the head coach had everyone drill one technique from north south - you can choose the technique that works best for you.- The coaches care about their students - the coaches walked around correcting students and stuck around after class to answer questions. I was a visiting student and received feedback from the head coach!- This gym has the look of an old school boxing gym. I personally like it … if you’re looking for an Equinox experience (e.g. AOJ, Meraki), this probably isn’t for you.- Only negative is that there is only one shower and it doesn’t drain properly. Wasn’t that big of an issue for me though.

I dropped in today at Broadway BJJ to train with a friend and I can't say enough good things about the location. The team was welcoming, the space was amazing, the instruction was great. This is a gym I'd want to train at full time if I lived in Boston.

I dropped in for a class while traveling and had a great experience. There is a good amount of mat space, dedicated locker rooms, and a great setup to train. The sign in process was easy, and the guy running the front desk was super nice and helpful with showing me around. This gym is very clean and you can tell they take sanitization seriously. If you check out the schedule they have a variety of classes so you can get your training in regardless of schedule. I'm definitely going to be dropping in for more classes when I travel to Boston, and you should check this place out too whether you are looking for a place to train or you are just beginning your BJJ journey.

Dropped in for an afternoon gi class taught by professor Dimitry. Learned an awesome back take counter to de la riva guard and had some very tough productive rolls after. 10/10 would recommend! Very inviting and great people. Will be back for wrestling and nogi tomorrow 🤙 …

Exceptional school. I’ve been doing BJJ for 10+ years and have trained at most schools in Greater Boston, and Broadway ranks as one of my favorites by far. The instructor has high expectations in regards to effort and respect, but does a great job of modeling both. The result is a motivating and focused culture, and a healthy level of competition. He and the rest of the coaches are very professional and kind, and provide excellent instruction. They are doing a wonderful job of running a quality school while respecting the challenges/restrictions related to COVID..

I joined as a blue belt with roughly 2 years of training, and paid dues to several gyms in the Boston area. While this one ranges on the more pricy side, the unique culture of this gym makes it worth it. Although the gym is located in a basement and there are no fancy amenities, training here tends to be more focused and intense. The students are highly passionate and motivated and don't seem to take time off. If you're looking for something more casual or bougie this probably isn't it.Key advantages:-Competitive yet collegiate atmosphere. They roll much harder here than anywhere else in the area, and many students compete often.-Dog friendly. I can bring my dog here and she is adored.-Expansive mat space.-Leg locks allowed.-Trains stand-up regularly. Offers separate judo classes, and wrestling is frequently integrated.-Students seem to be held to a higher standard-- white belts are exposed to a comprehensive curriculum and must pass a standardized test. Erroneous and nonconducive behaviors (such as complacence, bad technique, stalling, etc) are frequently reprimanded. The students have really good cardio and really scramble.-Tons of students including many high level training partners, several of them women.-Diversity in weight classes, with many members per weight class. I have 0 issues finding people +/- 10 pounds of me.-Flexible class schedule. Several classes per day.-Convenient location, next to the red line.Chief grievances:-Not much lifting equipment (just kettlebells. Meh)-Really expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I have been training at this bjj gym for about six months now and I like the atmosphere more than other places I trained at. I think the bjj coach for the white belt class is a cool guy. He is friendly and welcomes questions from his students. I’d rate the gym 7/10. The negatives for me personally is I think people are a little too friendly sometimes. I’d rather be left alone and collect my thoughts after a spare than chat with someone in the gym. That’s just me though, some other guys might like it
