I’ve been a member now for 3 months. Terrific facility with great multi level space for not only free weights and cardio, but a dedicated mirrored “free zone” for pilates, stretching, drills and mat exercises. This YMCA is very clean, has two large indoor bike racks and a modern locker room facility. Meets all of my needs and I love the complimentary Dazbog coffee! Friendly staff too!

I trained at the downtown Denver YMCA for around a year and a half, prior to the lockdown due to the coronavirus. The common areas are normally full of homeless people, the (male) locker rooms are often filthy - food trodden into carpets, hair and beard trimmings over the counters and sinks, soiled towels all over the place. Pieces of gym equipment were damaged and left unfixed for months at a time, including the water fountains (replace those filters more than once a year please, there’s even a little red light that makes it clear). The front desk is often left abandoned, and when the staff are there they barely glance up from their cellphones to answer questions.I put an indefinite freeze on my account on 06/20/2020 and they have continued to attempt to charge me. I can not recommend this facility, which is a shame as the location within downtown Denver is great.

First off, I’m giving two stars because it was a very clean and safe facility during Covid. Cleanliness was a top priority to this staff. They also provided my boyfriend with a mask, so thank you for that.My issue is with management & customer service. My boyfriend and I had two relatives visiting for the week. I only have a membership at Planet Fitness but everyone else has Y memberships. So, we decided to try the Y out. We walked in and the members tried to scan their IDs & the system was down for out of state guests. They couldn’t figure out the password I guess to check members in, so they had us write our names down on a piece of paper. Once again, I reiterated I was just a guest (My boyfriend is technically out of state member because he’s still on his families.) & I asked if that was an issue and was told no. We get upstairs and there’s one, literally one person working out. I think maybe 5 by the time we left. While we were working out, the management, an older brunette lady & older gentleman, were watching us like hawks and staring me down during my whole workout. I felt very uncomfortable with this and my boyfriend later said that the gentleman approached him & said “since we were out of state members, they technically weren’t allowed guests & could only stay for an hour .” Cool, except I asked that before we walked in & they could’ve told us no from the beginning. If the gym was super crowded, I guess I would understand more.... but 3 out of state members “guests?” and one guest with maybe 5 others in the whole gym is ridiculous to act like we’re criminals or something.

I’ve been coming here for powerlifting training since June 2019, so far it’s been a great experience. I rarely have to wait for a power rack, members generally clean up their weights when they are done and people are friendly but will generally leave me alone which is ideal as I’m not there to socialize. What other gym in downtown Denver can you find free coffee, towel service, sauna, steam and other amazing amenities and classes for an affordable price? It’s absolutely the best deal for what you get out of this place. Plus the staff are awesome and super friendly. Also your membership can be international and you can pause your membership once a year for up to 90 days (Traveller’s note!)

I’ve been a YMCA member for over 10 years and will hopefully never have to leave. I have made great friends not only with other members but also the staff. The trainer are great! I feel safe going there since they take such good care of the facility especially with the pandemic. I love the classes (especially sports conditioning) and am so excited that they are back on the schedule and are now meeting to workout outside.

Decent facilities member services reps can be more like member antagonist sometimes however it’s walking distance to work so I joined. If it weren’t two blocks from my job no way would I join at those prices. Not worth it for facilities and service otherwise.

I love the new remodel work they’re doing. The new locker rooms and weight room are great additions. Staff is friendly and responsive. The only reason for the four stars instead of five is cleanliness is an issue (hopefully changes when the renovations are finished) and this gym can get extremely crowded for the space during lunch hours and after work. I’ve also seen a couple issues with trainers not using equipment for intended purposes- using weighted row machine as an incline push-up bench, for example. Overall, positive impression of the gym and it will get better when the renovation is done.

I had a wonderful experience during my three day guest pass, which anyone can get with a valid ID. The location is in a beautiful area near the park. The facility is very well maintained, and clean. I saw several people cleaning machines and putting things away that worked there. Check in was quick and easy. Beautiful basketball court. The front desk staff was very helpful. I will definitely be going back!

I submitted a financial assistance application in person at the Downtown location and the person I spoke to said he was the one in charge of those applications and it usually takes a couple of weeks but that he will review it this week and give me a call. A week passes so I called (it was the Thanksgiving week when I called) and asked the guy who picked up the phone if I could get the status of my application. He was pretty rude and sounded like he wanted to hurry up and hang up the phone. He stated “these applications take about 4 weeks anyway so I doubt they even started on it yet” he asked for my name and punched it in to his system and said “Nope it’s not in here yet and the guy that handles these applications, his name is Scott is on vacation till next week, call back then” so about 2 weeks ago I went on to there website and requested a call back regarding my application. After a few emails later come to find out they “lost” my application. I received NO apology or a “I invite you to come in and speak with me personally to see how we can resolve this issue” did I mention the person whom emailed me back was Scott, the apperant person who handles these applications? Imagine if he’s the one handling the paperwork and loses applications with sensitive information on it what other paperwork does he lose????? Poor service indeed

First, I would like to say that aesthetically, the renovation is phenomenal. The finishes they used to complete the spaces are modern and minimalistic which is very pleasing to the eye. However, the new men's locker room is a HUGE disappointment in comparison to the old one. The physical space of the locker room probably doubled in size. They were able to fit in close to 600 lockers which is great, except for the fact that they sacrificed space for desired amenities in order to accommodate all of the lockers. In the old locker room, the steam room had room for 13 people easily. The new steam room is almost unusable. The single row bench on the back wall is unusable due to the location of the steam head. Sitting anywhere on this bench ensures that your right leg is burned by the steam as the bench is so close to the nozzle. Not only is this a disappointment, but I would imagine is a huge liability to the organization as an injury risk. Additionally, the right side of the steam room has two tier benches, however, if anyone is sitting on the top row, it automatically makes the space on the first row unusable as the benches aren't wide enough to accommodate the feet of the person on the second bench and allow for sitting room for another patron. The capacity of this steam room due to these factors, unless you want to sit on top of other people or get burned, is probably 4 people. What is the point of having 600 lockers if less than 1% are able to use the amenities in the locker room? Also, you might as well be looking into the sun the entire time you're in the steam room. It's insanely bright with several lights... WHY? The sauna door has a huge gap on the bottom. While the sauna itself doesn't feel to be losing any heat, the locker room temperature seems to be WAY hotter than the temperature of the old locker room. I imagine some of this sauna heat is escaping into the facility. The showers don't have much privacy and are open to a very high traffic area of the locker room. Overall, the design of the renovation is nice, with the exception of the locker room - I dont know what firm designed this space, but its very unpractical and pretty ignorantly designed. Unfortunately, the steam room is one of my favorite relaxers after working out. This new steam room and sauna is just not up to par and it seems that I will have to begin searching for a new gym to appeal to my needs.
