Equinox Century City, located in the heart of Los Angeles, is a high-end gym that promises an unrivaled workout experience. Whether you prefer individual workouts or group classes, this gym is well-equipped to cater to all your fitness needs.

Despite its appealing features, some users feel that the club falls short in several aspects, such as an unbalanced distribution of equipment and early closing hours. Nevertheless, Equinox Century City prides itself on offering a clean, organized, and immaculate environment for fitness enthusiasts.

Pros:

  • Positives include spacious locker rooms and a balanced variety of fitness classes.
  • Staff is often mentioned as being professional and welcoming, providing an exceptional fitness experience.
  • The environs are clean and well-maintained.
  • Members enjoy the convenience of its location within Westfield Century City.
  • Despite being less spacious compared to other Equinox clubs, the Executive plan offered is appreciated for perks such as laundry service.

Cons:

  • There is criticism in relation to the distribution of equipment, with several reviews indicating an unbalanced emphasis on cardio training over weight training.
  • While praised for its cleanliness, the gym is said to be relatively smaller compared to other Equinox locations.
  • Closing hours, particularly on weekends, have been critiqued for being too early.

My mother and I have been loyal Equinox members for the past 3 years, prior to the pandemic and initiated our membership at Century City. Today we brought my younger sister, who is already an Equinox member with access to all locations besides Century City. We came because we were told by another club that because she is already an Equinox member, she could try this club to see if she would like to upgrade her membership. We told the front desk that she would upgrade, but she would like to try a class before to make sure it was fitting to her needs. However, the treatment we received from the front desk attendant, Sophie, followed by the membership advisor Brian Holtby was absolutely unacceptable and appalling.Sophie was extremely juvenile and sarcastic like a “mean girl.” Which is not the attitude she should have as a front desk attendant. She treated us as if we were not members and we’re trying to get in without paying. We pay a total of $1000+ for our memberships and no one paying this much should be met with atrocious behavior such as Sophie’s. After coming to no solution, she called Brian. When calling him, she started off by saying “sorry to bother you” as if we were a burden.Brian’s behavior was awful as well. When my sister asked about upgrading her membership, he abruptly cut her off and quickly said the price as if he wanted to make sure she could afford it. Completely unacceptable, and she is already a member. As we were walking away, Sophie quickly joined Brian to go behind the scenes and gossip. When we decided to not workout because we were upset, he confirmed that she went back to talk to him to see if she did anything wrong. Brian offered no apology for his behavior and even endorsed Sophie’s behavior. Completely unacceptable. To make matter worse, as we were leaving, Sophie sarcastically shouted “Have a Nice Day!”We then spoke to Leslie, the general manager, and she just heard us and didn’t offer any remedy or solution to providing better service to Equinox guests. Instead, she just said that she “would talk to them.” Which does not ensure any change, and guests will most likely continue to experience this horrible behavior from the Equinox employees. We also asked Leslie for the District Managers contact and she said that the issue would likely “come back to her,” meaning that her intentions were not genuine and she would do nothing.

This location customer service is the WORST!!!! Especially personal training manager - Alberto.First of all for people looking for personal training please DONNOT use this location, because they have ONLY ONE TIER X trainer, and you will never be able to schedule with him.Second of all, Alberto tried to sell me 24 class session - $3000, and I was told I can use Tier X trainer which is a totally LIE. When I tried to schedule the appointment multiple times he always make excuses or never pick up the phone. Because he is always “BUSY”. So I end up training with no one. Or stay with tier 3 trainer. As client, I have no freedom to choose who I like to train with, so what’s the point I spend money???This was very unpleasant experience. I hope the manager of the equinox should notice this. They just lost a client who is willing to pay for 24 sessions package because of the service.

This is the gym you promised yourself you would join when you made it life. It’s all about the amenities, the details and the community.

Kyle Cook is one of the most unsanitary human beings I have met in my life. For a manager to not practice what he preaches in the middle of a pandemic is absurd. The fact that he is still working there is shocking. A gym is supposed to be clean especially when your paying $325/month.I am sad to see Equinox go this low. Avoid this location at all cost. West Hollywood is where I will stay.

Brian Holtby is amazing. Whatever you do, sign up with him. He’s very welcoming and really takes care of you throughout your time as a member, not just at the beginning. Great club, clean, and never too crowded.

This is honestly the worst EQX. Referring to “in the wild” setup. Half the rooftop is wide open and unused, no attempt to fill it with equipment, constantly overbooked, they dont ask you to schedule a cardio vs lifting time slot so you end up with 40 people fighting over 30 machines/benches/cables to lift and 5 people using the 20 cardio machines. Total mismanagement of the volume and placement of equipment. They are using a quarter of the space out here for the 5 classes a day they offer. I’m no rocket scientist, but how about you nail down how to be an effective gym space before offering classes? Get the basics right. Insult to injury is the useless lounge area at the front as if people want to chill on couches in the sun. Seriously, put equipment anywhere you can fit it and call it a day. smdh

They really do everything they can to stay open and to keep us safe. And they are super helpful. You can reach the management people directly. Very easy. Or you can chat online. Equinox is the best gym out there.
