I started at the downtown Y 35-40 years ago and happily moved to the Uptown pool. Lovely locker room and just a great lap swim experience for decades. Midtown is adequate but just that. I signed on for fitness and well-being, and I still want that. Will the Y close Midtown in the next few years once they establish their social service programs? Hard to know. Had a good tour at Midtown’s pool today in advance of the November 1 change. Will have to give it a try. Adequate will have to be good enough for now!

After canceling the largest masters swim team in the state and the youth swimming team, try the YMCA instead?

Just shut down their youth and masters swimming programs and let their aquatics staff go. We were given four days notice that the program was being cancelled. These programs were huge institutions with a rich history. There is now no competitive youth swim program in Minneapolis. Thanks to the YWCA, in order to swim you have to live in a suburb. Great job fighting for equity in heath and fitness!

A great place to turn off your brain for an hour and get a fantastic workout in. All of the coaches and staff are energetic and super helpful.

Like this place generally, but there are pros and some big cons. It is clean, has many classes, safe remodeled locker rooms, lockers with built-in locks. BUT, THE POOL FREQUENTLY CLOSES FOR WEEKS FOR REPAIRS, with no notices sent to members, and pool hours are not clearly posted on web site. Some eliptical machines squeak and seem to need maintenance. Like all the Minneapolis YWCAs, you have to pay $1 to $2 to park daily, so add that to membership fees of $70 per month, and I'm paying about $100 per month. The poor maintenance makes it not worth that cost.

Suffering since covid, services are hard to get, and are in my opinion falsely advertised. Childcare in the Kids Zone is only one day a week and for just a few hours. Going to have to leave for a gym or fitness center with intact services.

Just went for the first time after moving from Los Campeones. Definitely has pretty much anything you’d need at a fitness club and seems reasonably clean
