Awesome culture, Sang is extremely nice and helpful. I would highly recommend if you're interesting in learning BJJ!

JG Academy is awesome! The instructor Sang is super welcoming and approachable and really knows his stuff. I felt really welcome from the first day and I always feel comfortable to ask any questions. Sang really explains WHY we do certain techniques and the motivation behind it, which really helps you understand the nuances of each position rather than just drilling for the sake of it. Great training partners who will push you and give you a hard roll, but are never out to hurt you. The higher belts also know how to take it easy on lower belts when they need to. Highly recommend

I started my jiu jitsu journey here in my 30s and have been doing it for 6 months. I checked out other gyms in the area and settled with this one, reasons below:- INJURY PREVENTIONThese people really take injury prevention seriously by putting in rules in rolling. Instructors usually do not roll and instead watch. I've never felt unsafe, in fact I've seen preventative measures employed.-HYGIENEAs soon as something about staph and fungal infections was brought up, these folks added wipes and ventilation, they also verbally constantly remind new folks of good practices.- INSTRUCTIONInstructors here are all great, very clear and welcome questions. Sometimes we have very cool guest instructors and also hosted seminars.-ORGANIZATIONThey have a WhatsApp group and insta where you always can ask questions to anyone and know whether class is happening on a holiday.I found this gym to be a community. People are so welcoming. Good mix of all belt levels and you get a lot of help.Kids classes also look really fun as an activity for development.I don't know how it would be if you're a world level athlete looking for super intense high level sparring to the death ;P but for a regular person, I really recommend this place.

I dropped in three classes while I was visiting Palo Alto. It’s a welcoming environment, coaches are very knowledgeable, training partners are friendly and will give you good rolling rounds.I highly recommend this academy for everyone not matter your level. I’ll definitely attend again in my next trips.

Great place for starters, competitors and kids. I’ve been training here for 4 years now and the gym has met all my expectations.

I never do reviews, but I have to make an exception here. JG is the best gym I've ever been. There are fundamentals, advanced and comp. training classes, which supplement each other. The professors are super nice to everyone and they are also very experienced as most of them are actively competing (just to mention, professor Javier Gomez recently got the 1st place in 2022 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship). There are also great and supportive training partners as many of the folks are actively competing as well. And last but not least, JG is not a "I-train-and-I-leave" gym. There an amazing and friendly environment as most of the people there are friends and they spend time together off the mats.

I came in for a drop in class while I was down in Los Altos for a work event. They were all super cool and welcoming. Really nice large mat as well. Would recommend to anyone and I will go back.
