John is a great trainer and strength coach! He has the tremendous ability to cater programming to any clients needs - be it olympic lifting or fat loss!His rates are very reasonable and he has done an amazing job creating virtual options.If you’re looking for a trainer in the Cambridge/Somerville area, this is your man!!

I signed up for three sessions with John on Groupon and ended up committing to personal training and long term membership at his studio. Some of the things I really about his training style and Studio are-1) His attention to detail. He focuses on correcting your technique, postures and forms. He is a certified trainer and can guide you and support you well in achieving your fitness goals.2) Customized Workouts- I train with him for endurance and weight loss3) Considering the pandemic- Masks are mandatory, temperature measurements are taken when you come in, Disinfectant wipes are available to clean the equipment after and before use4) Flexibility with schedules- He’s very accommodating with days and times and offers zoom classes as well5) Professionalism and friendliness and is good with keeping you accountable.6) Good network/recommendations of PT, Dietician/Nutritionist, Massage therapists etc7) Well equipped gym8) Conveniently located at the armory in Somerville with Spacious Parking lot for free parking

John helped me train for a Spartan Race back in 2018, and I ended up coming in 3rd place in my age group! He is great at listening to your goals and customizing your workout so that you achieve them.

John is a great trainer who is passionate about helping people reach their fitness goals. He has been incredibly helpful in coaching me with olympic weightlifting, and I feel stronger than ever. He is great at breaking down the movements, and making sure your workouts are effective, safe and fun. The gym is always clean, and he has air filters and requires masks, so I always feel safe when I am there. Virtual training is another option, so I can continue to stay motivated with workouts at home. John Lavoie Training is a top notch studio and I would highly recommend checking it out!

Very personalized and John has a deep knowledge that comes from his own experience as a triathlete and Olympic weight lifter. He specializes the workouts to each client and genuinely cares for everyone

I’d always wanted to have a trainer but had been nervous to get in touch with one. Would they judge me? Yell at me like some overcaffeinated jock you see on TV? Could I really push myself while someone is watching me try? Yes! But only because John is really special. He’s totally knowledgeable and firm, but also just plain nice and compassionate. He listens to your goals and that’s that; he’ll do everything he can to help. I can’t imagine a better trainer than John.

I've been training with John for over two years. His new location at the Armory in Somerville is great and fully outfitted. John has improved my fitness for golf, snowboarding and tennis. I encourage anyone interested in upgrading their health and fitness to come by and give John a try.
