This gym has been nothing but helpful and great teaching. They let me and my nephew try a class. They are military friendly and helped my nephew. My nephew had transverse myelitis when he was younger. He lost function in his arm, and is slowly recovering. Even with his disability these teachers were patient and very helpful. I am very thankful for this community and team. Great teachers and students.

This is a fantastic school. The instructors and other students were extremely friendly, encouraging and helpful. I have been a police officer for 20+ years and was in the area training for 3 months. During this time this school accepted me, helped me and gave me the opportunity to improve my jiujitsu. And, I had fun in the process. All instructors are great. Would suggest to any age or experience level. Highest recommendation. Need to add the instructors were very knowledgeable.

Gracie Barra is the premier Jiu-Jitsu academy in New Mexico. They offer a traditional and structured curriculum for kids and adults. Classes are scheduled during the week in the evenings and on Saturday mornings at this location. All of which are taught by legitimate and accomplished black belts, Professor Gustavo Alencar and Professor Joebe Pirtle. The gym is well kept and the atmosphere is inviting, particularly for families but also for professional Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts competitors. Every class is well attended by a variety of skill levels making for a great place to learn and practice technique. Whether you are a weekend warrior looking for a fun way to stay fit or a professional martial artist looking for a place to train, Gracie Barra is for you.

Professor Gustavo is probably the best teacher I've ever had including my academic career. The environment at Gracie Barra Rio Rancho is very homely and welcoming. Everybody is there to learn. And the staff is great. I like to think of it as my home away from home.

I've been training here since it opened around four years ago. There are four schools in the Albuquerque area under the helm of Roberto Alencar (Tussa); his brother, Gustavo, leads this one in Rio Rancho. He has deep knowledge of the art and a passion to share it. We are all one team, but this school has become my home. It is a great environment - very friendly and not intimidating - I love to train here. I love jiu jitsu because it is challenging physically and mentally and it forces you to focus on what is happening at that moment. It gets in your blood - I highly recommend giving it a try.

Awesome Professors!! Awesome training partners!! An amazing place to learn jiu jitsu, which is, in my opinion, the best self defense. Also a great place to grow as a human being and make some great friendships!

Another great day of training. Having a bad day....come train at Gracie Barra Rio Rancho. Just entering the gym will clear your mind. It's another world when you step on the mat learning from one of the best instructors and and teammates guiding/pushing you harder.

This club is very friendly. The coaches are very attentive to all students, off or on the mat. They are interested in your children succeeding at all levels. These coaches are outstanding and professional. As a family we feel very welcomed. Our son and daughter love going here because of friends they've made and the coaches. We love Rio Ranch Gracie Barra!
