I stopped in to inquire about the jiu jitsu team and was just blown away by the interaction I had.To inquire about the gym you will have to text Rocky, who will meet you at the gym when he is free too. He greeted me at the door, sat me in his office (which was a hoard of sport memorabilia. No way you could keep that place sanitized) and spent 10 minutes telling me about his jiu jitsu career. He asked me how long I had been training and where out of but that was it.I had to find a moment in between him spewing off about all the brown belts at the gym, to ask what the pricing was, what time classes were, and how many other girls where in the program. The pricing was $100 per month(included full access to the gym, which is straight out of a 2000 gym machine catalog the equipment is so outdated), classes were at 7 pm, and he said with me there would be 3 girls in the program.Through all his talking this is what he did tell me about the gym:- the gym opens with a code, you are required to text him on the 2nd of the month to receive that code, so he can verify your billing went through on the 1st.- there’s a $5 fee if you are caught not replacing or reracking your weights- there’s a $3 if you don’t wipe down equipment or if you forget to turn off the lights when you are done- Rocky said he wanted to open his own gym as a purple belt and had a friend who was a black belt that agreed to rank him up and open the gym with him. He then talked about how I should be careful with choosing a credible jiu jitsu gym because “anyone can buy a black belt off Amazon”- you are required to cancel face to face. Which you have to text him to do. So whenever he is available to meet you, you can stop being charged.- giant bold sign reminding you that “JUST BECAUSE YOU PAY ANNUALLY DOESN’T EXCLUDE YOU FROM TERMINATION”I mean go ahead and go visit and you’ll see exactly what I saw. The visit was so off putting I had to chuckle to myself as I walked out, in shock that Rocky actually has customers with this business model.I did not join this gym and my rating is purely based off my visit to the facility and not the services advertised.

I had been going to Westside Power for 8 years. I had received a text informing me that my membership has been canceled, reasons being due to new pricing. So to that I say if I am going to pay commercial gym prices I should get commercial gym benefits, it's nothing personal just business.

Westside Power Gym is unlike any gym I've been to. The community is welcoming and the environment is one that will naturally drive you to hit that next personal best.Rocky is the Owen/operator, veteran and firefighter as well as a retired MMA fighter. While not everyone's cup of tea, he is likely the most down to earth man I've ever met, always willing to lend a spot or give you a few pointers. If you like a nice quiet gym where the members don't smile and ask how you've been, this isn't the gym for you.WPG offers MMA classes, personal training, loud music, chalk, heavy weights and your own access code to lift 24 hours a day. Bathroom/shower on site, a variety of cardio and strength training as well as power lifting and strongman equipment.By far this gym feels like home over any other gym I've been to in my travels.Shut up and lift or keep sitting on your couch eating bonbons. Your choice.

Professor Ramirez is great with teens. My sons take jiu jitsu and boxing at his gym and really enjoy the classes

Rocky is an outstanding dude! Very straight forward and up front. The gym itself is everything you could ask for! Has that old school, Metroplex vibe to it! Very clean and everybody understands the unwritten rules to lifting and bodybuilding. Friendly environment but serious, hardcore guys fit in well. Highly recommend, best gym in NM.

Contacted the owner back in March about cancelling my husbands membership. He only has his cell phone number as a means of contacting him, then didn’t answer my call and had no room left in voicemail box to leave a message. I texted him inquiring about cancelling and he responded “who is this?” So I assumed I had a wrong number. The membership was supposed to be up in April but I wasn’t charged after March so I figured it had cancelled. I was charged in June so we contacted him as to why, he had us come in to the gym that day after we showed him screenshots of where we tried to contact him to satisfy his 30 day notice for cancellation requirement. He had us sign a form to cancel after telling us we would be refunded for June and that we wouldn’t be charged anymore. I was charged again in July and when I contacted him he said because we signed after June 1st that we would be charged for July, after reminding him he told us to our faces we wouldn’t be charged again he called me entitled and told me to file a complaint about it and then blocked my number. The most irresponsible slimy business owner I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Do not waste your time here.

I cancelled with this gym and only went there for a week. I showed him orders cancelling my gym membership.Because you either cancel by paying the due or show orders showing you are moving away. So I stopped getting charged, all of a sudden he is charging my account when I am not even going to the gym.
