Lot's of fun. Their ratings are over generous though. I can do some 5.10's in the gym, but struggle on 5.8's in nature. To be clear, I love the place, I just worry about people using their gym rating to plan an outdoor trip. Outside climbing is a different game. Climb safely everyone!

Honestly we have been there since momentum opened. They have gone downhill. At this point. They care more about publicity and they don't care about their customers who have been there from the beginning. The climbing area is so overwhelmed with customers that there is no climbing space at this point and they do expansions but it's only for bouldering they care less about the route climbers. Honestly, I'm going somewhere else.

This review is for Momentum Sandy and Lehi in general. We’re members of Momentum and have felt that over the last few years (starting pre-Covid) that the value of membership has been decreasing. This is not a reflection on the staff because they have great staff at both Sandy and Lehi. However, Momentum seems to prioritize volume of admissions over quality of climbing. I understand they can’t make money on memberships alone but the gym needs to stand by their standards.Allowing day pass users to climb in street shoes is one example, it’s just not sanitary to allow groups to come in and start bouldering in sneakers while others have taken the time to rent or buy climbing shoes. Felt really grossed out watching a large group of teens climbing in their street shoes in the bouldering area at Sandy. Another issue is the lack of perks for members, most classes (other than yoga) still charge members a sizable fee. General cleanliness has also gone down, last time I came I had to pick up bandaids strewn all over the floor. Lots of chalk and hair ground into the mats which makes me think they need a better vacuum. I appreciate they’re slowly trying to make improvements, like the new reining room, but the bathrooms desperately need an update at both locations. Would like to see automatic sinks and soap dispensers that actually work. It feels like the gym has become a playground for people that don’t have an interest in respecting other climbers. Lots of unattended children at the Lehi location often makes it dangerous to climb. We’ve started trying to go later and later in the evening to avoid crowds but even that is getting harder. Have not tried the 8am members only time at Momentum because we like to sleep in on Saturday lol. Also would like to see the gym enforce or encourage climbers to start using chalk balls and/or liquid chalk because powder is often misused and causes respiratory issues. On the plus side, route setting is fantastic, staff are amazing, the classes are top notch, and the prices are still reasonable. As a member I’d be willing to pay more for better conditions at the gyms. I long for a gym that caters to members. I miss my gym back home that had a sense of community and that prioritized safety and quality of climbing over volume, but it could be that those days are just gone. Momentum overall is a great gym, hence 4/5 stars. Thanks!
