Genesis Health Clubs - St Joseph

Me and my wife had signed up for amembership. We had the membership for five months when I got a job opportunity and we had to move to a location without a Genesis. We signed a buy out contract for $250. We received a few phone calls a couple weeks later saying we missed our payment. We called and the individual stated we would have to come in. We drove three hours away and spoke with two different managers, both stated that our accounts were closed. A year later we are receiving multiple collections notices in the amount of $776. Apparently when they started our membership they did it under two separate accounts. After countless phone calls iam told that there is nothing they could do. What a scam.

The staff are great and are very friendly. Dale is one of the best trainers and is easily approachable. Everything is kept pretty clean, some of the patrons just don’t know how to pick up after themselves. The one Maine complaint I have about this facility is during peak hours (5pm-6:30pm), it is frowned upon to to deadlift. The cardio instructors have asked me to stop my workout on several occasions. However there is no sign that says I cannot deadlift during those hours. The two things that I would like to see added to the gym are a 1000lb club and add a belt upstairs so I can add weight while doing dips and pull ups.Also, I have heard an individual badmouthed this location on Facebook because the managers didn’t cancel his membership before he deployed and Genesis isn’t a “military friendly” establishment. As a Veteran, I highly disagree with this individuals opinion. Genesis is by far the best gym near the St Joseph area.

I participate in a lot of the different classes and all of the instructors are great. I also have a personal trainer who I love, Trish keeps me motivated!!! the gym itself is very clean and the overall experience is excellent.

Great atmosphere, very clean, and I really enjoy the tennis and the new cardio tennis program they have. I wish they had a Yoga class later in the evening since I work during the day. Should also say the locker room is very nice and I need to try the swimming pool out some time.

The tennis program at the Saint Joseph club is outstanding in so many ways. The coaches always bring their highest energy and passion for the game to every practice. My kids love this sport because of the quality lessons and coaching that they receive. Thank you to Coach Bryan, Coach K, and Coach Deb for all that you give to my kids. It’s more than a tennis lesson, it’s a life lesson too!

Not a bad club just not what I thought it was going to be. I wish they were kinder about letting people out the contract we have had our work schedules changed to where the club hours do not work for us not to mention we now live 35 min away from the club. I think $275 is steep when someone has moved and had changes to work schedules and can no longer use the club. Only plus I would recommend is the indoor pool.

I started going to Genesis at the beginning of 2017. They offered so many choices on classes AND quality child care. The personal trainers are fun and easy to talk to, as well as professional. The facilities are clean and organized. Over the summer, my family went on vacation and I stopped going to the gym for a while. I got personal email from Jesse asking if I had any quesitons and reminding me I still had several personal training sessions. (In other words, why aren’t you coming to the gym?!) This is one of my favorite places in town!

I love this club! My son loves the kids club and the hours are so accommodating compared to other gyms in town! Angelica is a great trainer and I’m getting where I would like to be for my health and body. The cardio equipment is always clean and easy to use. The weights and assist machines are also easy to use and are always available when I need them. I really like group power, I’ve been to classes with diffeeent instructors and i like them all! I also love the pool and being able to swim with my son! So glad this club is in town.

Great atmosphere. Staff is friendly. High quality weights and machines. Love the indoor track. Basketball court is a bit distracting. Love the early morning openings. Early opening on the weekends would be a plus. Locker room facility is great. Been a member for a month and already seeing results.

I was pushed into signing up by a guy name jeff last night around 7 pm on January 1st 2016. I decided that the gym was not in my desire. I at 8:12am. January second dropped off a written cancelation off to jeff the one from the night before, he then tryed to keep me as a member. I refused he was rudely taken and at the moment i said i am not interested he finally got the clue. I requested a confirmation email, yet to see at 6:22pm january 2nd , i have called 4 time to verify no reply and won't even come to phone!!! This is a very unprofessional location because they don't offer you the short term contract times, they push long term, no responses, poor customer service, and only 3 days to cancel your membership. I am within my terms of cancelation. Very fraudulent as i can see so far!!!Don't recommend. All other gyms in town provide better services, and well look closely at the jams and incompletion of this gym. Looks like fraud because budget is short. See for yourself crappy place
