I had given Genesis a five star review but now have decided to update it to one star. I had noticed last month my membership cost doubled and when I called the staff member they told me it included the one time annual club enhancement fee which I just found out they take that out in September not October so the employee I talked to obviously wasn’t thinking. But I thought “okay” and went on. Now this month they took out the same amount and again I asked about it. They told me it’s because I no longer work at mosaic which is fine. I understand that but if I had been told that last month I would have downgraded to the single plan instead of family plan and wouldn’t have been charged so much because I am the only one in my family going. When I asked for them to refund the difference since I was told the wrong information last month by one of their staff members, they said no. I will be canceling my membership because that is not how you treat customers which should be a business’s number one priority.

Went in to look at facilities. I was immediately asked to fill out membership forms that included virtually all your private data. I told desk girl, no, I would not fill out application, ..I just wanted to look around. She looked stricken and said she would call, Jesse, the manager.I told Jesse my work pays most of the fees and I wanted to check out the Nautilus machines. He said I couldn't look at anything without filling out the application. Jesse told me twice I had to fill out the forms. Then manager, Jesse. told me to leave.What business turns down likely fees, why was my personal info necessary to view facilities? I went in with the intention to join this club.This behavior led me to believe this business is likely unethical and certainly intrusive to potential customers. I feel lucky I did NOT join. Just read all the other reviews about being scammed. Beware!

This is a great facility. The only down fall is if you are Military and get moved they tell you that they will help you cancel your membership. My contract is over and I am month to month and they keep charging me. So here is my advice if you are AD military stay away and find a gym that will take care of you. So far they have got 6 mo out of me when I told them I was going to stop payment they said that they would send me to collections. Like I said great gym worst customer service

Nothing bad to say about the facilities or staff in general, both are great. However, their "30 day cancellation notice" clause is a shady practice within their contract agreements. After your contract length lapses, your membership will automatically switch to month to month whether you like it or not. In almost any other situation in life after a contract expires you sign a NEW contract if you want to continue service. A businesses integrity is a big deal to me. This was shady.

Great place Genesis clubs are always clean and have plenty or equipment. I travel quite a bit and was glad there was one in St. Joe. Shakes are great!

I've been a member for over six months. The hours are great. The facility is well appointed and the staff is courteous and well-informed. If you're looking to get in shape or are looking to make serious gains this is the right club.

Overall I love Genesis, Its always a clean environment and the employees are always happy to see you and remember your face when you walk in. I think its a great gym for the St Joseph area and is a great place to start to help our community become healthier.

****update**** I’m not changing the amount of stars I gave, BUT....Jesse (club manager) reached out to me today and I was able to tell him my entire story. He was very kind and understanding, which I appreciate after the hell we went through. We are still not taking our son back to swim lessons there, however he was kind enough to give us a FULL refund and listened to my complain for 20 mins!! Thank you Jesse!!****I wish I could give negative stars!! This place is a joke when it comes to swim lessons. 4 lessons, and $85 later (in which I was told they would not refund my money for what we didn’t use) this was a complete waste. My son (who is 8 years old) is terrified of certain things when it comes to swimming, so I signed him up for beginner 1, even though we did beginner 2 last year at the college. First off, I was told he needs to be in beginner 2 because of his size. (He’s 5’2”, which should have NOTHING to do with his skills) Ok, fine. After seeing how terrified he was, she wanted him to do a private lesson. So we did, paid the $35 they charge for 30 mins, did not help!! He’s still scared. They wanted him to jump off the side of the pool, and he didn’t want too, but they kept pushing him to do it. So to help this along, (because at this point EVERYONE in the pool area is staring at him!!) I even tried to bribe him with a toy he’s been wanting....it did not work. I was so upset by this pressure, that I walked out crying!! Even so, I took him back the next day because for some reason, he wanted to go! Ok, so it didn’t go well at the next lesson either. Different teacher, same problem with my son. She wanted him to jump off the side, he didn’t want too. She finally gave up and he got in the pool. She asked him to go under and retrieve the ring at the bottom without plugging his nose. He didn’t want too. So she says to him “put your head in the water, and I will push it so it’ll make you go farther down, faster” at this point my kid is about to cry because he’s terrified even more that she wants to do this, I told him “get out, we are leaving!!” On the way out, I ask for my money back for unused lessons, and I’m told they don’t refund money! Oh, and I was also accused of not paying for my son’s private lesson because she “couldn’t find it in the system.” Did I want to pay?? No....but I’m no thief, so even after she told me it would be complimentary, I still paid!!!!!! This place and all the people in it are a joke!!!!! I will never step foot in this gym again! And I hope no one else takes their kids for lessons there, especially if you have a child who is timid about the water!!

Genesis has changed my life! This gym is definitely the BEST around with great group fitness classes! Something for everyone here and if you are looking for personal training, Jarrett is great!
