Phoenix Rock Gym

This is a fun place, busy with lots of climbing walls. Great for kids too. Had my 6 year olds and they were climbing with a 3 year old. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend

Great gym, the staff are super friendly and safe. Everyone who climbs here is pretty dope too. They have plenty of top roping, couple areas for bouldering and a lead area too!

Honestly, not sure how this gym has such high ratings. We came today and didn't have a great experience.The good: the staff was great, extremely helpful, and wanted to make sure we were safe.The bad:It was more humid (and therefore felt hotter) inside vs outside. It was a relief leaving the building after climbing. Other gyms have better AC. Not great to climb in.The ropes proved to be difficult to manage and lowering was nearly impossible on some of the routes because the ropes had swelled so much due to humidity. Other gyms have better ropes.The holds were really greasy and it felt like they had not been cleaned in a long time compared to other gyms around AZ. Not only was that kinda gross but made the climbing more difficult. Other gyms have wayyy cleaner holds.Last but not least, the system they use for the routes is really confusing. This is more of a personal preference thing but wanted to mention it so others were aware! It was really hard to know where I could put my feet once I was above a hold because the color coded tape goes mostly straight down....In the end, climbing was just a frustrating exercise in trying to hold on to gross greasy holds and trying to figure out where I was allowed to put my feet. I'm not a setter and don't own a gym, but I haven't had this issue at other gyms so I assume PRG could do it much better if they chose to. Won't come back!

The staff here are top-notch - friendly, flexible, and always willing to help and teach. The top top routes are nicely varied, but the bouldering areas are a little cramped. Overall a great gym for any experience level

Huge gym with a ton of space and routes. The staff was amazing. The only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is the lack of auto belay throughout the gym. My family of 6 with 4 kids aged 7-13 have been to several gyms in Colorado and California, all with auto belay and we loved it, allowing everybody to climb simultaneously. I understand the experts routes not having this, but seems like the rest of the gym would be better served with newer/standard gym tech. Otherwise amazing spot.

I love this gym so much, it feels like a second home. I have pretty much been to all the gyms in the valley and would recommend this gym to climbers of all levels. PRG has tons of routes for bouldering and sport climbing. The staff are so informative, friendly and calm while being safety oriented. My partner is newer to climbing and they took time to give him some pointers and explain belay techniques. After coming here occasionally for about 8 years, I highly recommend this place! Thanks to the staff for being so great and creating a wonderful environment.

Great place, loved every time I was here. You can tell that everyone here is happy and loves what they are doing. If you get a chance look at the owner walking around (you can see how happy he is and how much joy he gets out of seeing us having fun). Thank you again for being open and doing what you do every day.

My favorite gym to go indoor climbing in AZ! The routes are consistently updated and the staff are so friendly. They do an excellent job of ensuring that everyone remains safe while climbing.

We went once and loved it so much decided to get memberships. The staff is friendly and helpful and it is a great environment. My only complaint is I wish they were open more hours so we could be there more.Update: Still loving it more than a year later!
