I am deeply concerned about the safety measures at Brandywine YMCA summer camp. My child faced multiple distressing incidents, including being pushed into a pool despite not knowing how to swim and having water poured into his food. Another incident was another camper kicked my son’s eyes. When I approached the Camp Director about these issues, the response was unsatisfactory. Rather than addressing my concerns, the focus shifted to alleged misbehaviors by my child. Given the lack of responsiveness and the repeated safety issues, I’ve made the decision to withdraw my child for the rest of the summer.

I signed up for a membership (free, they told me now that it was a free 2nd month free, whatever it was) back in Sept 2019. I used its swimming pool only once then and never used their facility at all since then. I have never received anything from them like a renewal notice or monthly newsletter whatsoever. As a result, I was not aware of being on their membership and they have kept charging the fee for years. I had a chance to review carefully my online credit card statements recently and found out that they have been "secretly" charging $102 monthly membership all along from Sep 2019. They have no interest in refunding the money they have charged. They make it challenging to terminate the membership as well. The two desk people I talked to failed to email me the membership termination request link with an incorrect email address even though I went over the email address several times with both of them. Davina Anderson, the manager there, finally confirmed that previous emails bounced back to them and and emailed me the request. She showed graciousness (?) by offering to have the membership terminated today 7/3/23 effective as of the end of June. Regarding the refund of all the back membership charges, she was talking about the fine prints of the contact which I might have signed with no knowledge of the details. How many people out there read all these fine prints that carefully unless the key issues being explained to them. This is a shame that they kept on secretly charging the membership fees with no knowledge for many members of what is going on unless the members pay careful attentions to each and every charge. This is a scam at its best for a so-called non-profit entity.

The Barandywine YMCA is the best place I've ever been! Always clean, polite and friendly staff who are always ready to help, nice visitors. It is a very wonderful place to spend time with family, friends or just to relax and rest by yourself. What we liked the most is that they have 3 pools (2 inside and one outside), isn't that great? Today is my birthday and I received a wonderful greeting on this occasion to my side! What a beautiful place! I took the Membership for a year and I am sure that I will continue it several more times! Thank you for that great experience, Brandywine YMCA!!!

Awesome gym, spacious rooms, plenty of treadmills, workout equipment, basketball court and pool lanes to workout in. They have plenty of squat racks and deadlift platforms that minimize wait times. They also have saunas to relax in as well. The staff is extremely welcoming and the gym crowd is very friendly and diverse.

Had issues getting my membership terminated. Called back in January to have it terminated and was told everything would be taken care of. I didn’t noticed until April from my bank statement that I’m still paying $80 for the membership. So I called back to let them know what happened, just to be dismissed and told there’s nothing they can do about it. Thanks for stealing my money!
