Great school, all the students are careful to prevent injuries. This is a small business and not a belt factory so Coach Rick is accommodating. The curriculum could be more organized, but otherwise this is a good place to train if you don't mind a less competitive, friendly atmosphere.

I went my first time with a friend who is very skilled in this martial art. After meeting the owner (Kru Rick) who teaches, Kru Edgar and Kru Eric, as well as all the people there training, I wanted to go back. They're all very humble, no big ego's, and all ready to teach and share knowledge. Energy is so important and the energy there is phenomenal! I'm excited to learn more without being intimidated. I'm also training one-on-one with Kru Eric now. He's well-rounded and a badass!

Dropped in from out of town for a Saturday open mat with my 12-year-old. Everyone was fantastic - tough, friendly, skilled, and respectful all the way from white to brown. The owner was very accommodating and made sure we felt at home. Highly recommended.

I've been training around Albuquerque in BJJ now for five years at several schools and visited the majority of them at least once. So with that in mind, I am proud to call Invictus my home. The atmosphere there and the culture gym owner and BJJ black belt Rick Mitchell and his students create is a place of positivity and feeling welcomed. One of the biggest issues I've had at some other schools is their politics and not feeling as part of a team. Here, there is none of that toxic environment. The students push hard, are eager to learn and egos are kept to a minimum. All around, this is a great place to train for those who want to learn martial arts that can work on or off the mats.

Very positive and caring atmosphere. Even though the instructors have MMA-level skills, there is absolutely no pecking order; they are happy to have you no matter what level you are at. Best of all they train their students to be respectful to each other - you will become a better martial artists and meet a bunch of friends at the same time.
