The layout of this gym has marginally improved since it opened. The matrix equipment is still terrible and the "functional fitness" area is still a massive waste of space. But if you go at off peak hours you might be able to get a halfway descent workout in. So there's that.

It's not a bad gym, quite a nice atmosphere, but it's badly designed. There is one single leg extension machine, which you can never use because it's always occupied. And yet there are 2 of those weird concave treadmills I've never seen used, and 4 80s style stair climbers. Then there's a massive largely unused functional fitness area in the middle which takes up half the gym. Then there are huge studio rooms off to the side which I've never even seen open.

Thank you to all the staff for making me feel welcome. Motivation and feeling inclusive is very important.

Great facilities and equipment selection; locker rooms are well kept and maintained; great diversity of group classes. Biggest con is lack of communication concerning changes to memberships. In the past year my membership dues have gone up twice; I never received notice of the first hike and when I asked about it management insisted over and over it must have simply gone to my spam box. Also, recently the gold's location on Glebe Rd. in Arlington closed, an alternative location that myself and a number of other members also use. Despite this, members weren't informed of the closure until the day of, which is shocking given that gold's gym dc metro area "still" advertises the availability of 20 gyms in the dc metro area (the closure actually brings it down to 19 gyms). Despite the foregoing my membership fee is lower than other comparable gyms in the area, and I do enjoy the facility, so I'll stay. But beware to stay on top of things if you're in a financially precarious situation.Edit: forgot to mention that outside of bench presses and cables, there are only one for each piece of equipment. So popular equipment pieces -- like pec fly and leg extension -- are in constant use and you have to watch them like a hawk to get some reps in during pretty much anytime of the day. Never had to extend a workout session as a result time wise, but its still a nuisance.

Baileys Crossroad location is my go to gym and this is mainly because it’s the closest to my house. It doesn’t have all the equipment like the other golds gyms have but still worksTo avoid the rush, I always go around 5/6am so I never have to wait on equipment. If you go at 6pm or later, good luck! Might just have to be a cardio day for you LOLSide note: Jason is a rockstar employee at the golds. Answers any questions I have when I’m lifting and just a fantastic human beingNo sauna at this location btw!

Don’t lock yourself into a long term rate here! The sales rep convinced me to sign up for a 18 month membership & then the location I went to shut down. Same story others have had here, management will not communicate. They will not refund you, period. EVEN IF YOUR GYM IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Highway robbery.

FYI canceling a gym membership here is next to impossible. Been trying to cancel my Membership for a month because I don't live there anymore. Wrote Sam(the GM) an email to cancel and he hasn't returned anything back to us. It's been a month, front desk just leaves a message saying he will call back. No call backs ever. They will keep taking your money with no problem. Hopefully they can sort this out and refund me for the month they haven't answered

Spacious and clean. Need a little more variety of lat pull power grips pulley.

The S Glebe location closed without notice and members were charged. I tried contacting the DC Metro management team to cancel and rectify the issue and have gotten no responses. Do you want to deal with a management team like this for something you're going to use regularly? Probably not.
