Gold's Gym Austin Downtown

The gym is fine and decent for the low price. They have this terrible parking system where you have to tell them the last 4 digits of your card so you don't get charged. Last time I did it, I left the gym and got charged anyway! Terrible.

I would give less than one star for customer service. I was double charged for the month of April, on top of ongoing issues with freezing my account last year. Someone (most likely within the company) was using my barcode to check into gyms …

I spoke to a representative on the phone earlier (his name was Greg I think), and he got some of my information so I could come to the gym today, so I drove 20 min to come to this Downtown location (cause I’m moving here) intended to sign up for a membership, and Joe at the front desk started asking me for a bunch of passes or codes that I’ve never gotten, I asked if I could at least see the gym before I signed up for the membership and he said that I couldn’t. Tbh I would never come back there. I don’t need to be mistreated and I prefer spending my money anywhere else.Edit 1: Corey was the name of representative I spoke by phone not Greg.

This Golds location is so much better than the South central Golds! The equipment, general atmosphere and layout blows the south location out of the park. While parking is more challenging, I can usually find street parking (which is free on certain times/days) nearby.

Very friendly staff, easy sign up, excellent equipment! Can't wait to start working out there regularly!

I am enjoying my time at Gold's downtown because people keep to themselves and the management ensures safety precautions are followed. The manager even called me after I joined to see if I needed anything. I like the split-level layout as well. This location is much better than the one off 290.

UPDATE: They charged my credit card AGAIN - we are now 5 months after I started trying to cancel my membership. It is mind blowing how incapable they are of doing basic business processes.Overall solid gym - I like how there is plenty of cardio equipment and separate spaces for weights, cardio and stretching. Nice folks work the front desk, too. Though it can get busy at times and, when canceling your membership, make sure you get a cancellation confirmation (and save it).

I love this gym. It’s conveniently located in the heart of downtown and on 6th Street of all streets. While this gym is definitely smaller than the average Gold’s, given their space, they pack tons in this gym. …

Good gym, especially because of location. Has a sauna in women's restroom. Staff is friendly and all seemed pretty tidy and clean. Spin room available. Good selection of free weights and machines. Layout is awkward but I can tell the owners tried their best to put the most services, machines, and amenities into a smaller downtown location; so, no complaints.
