Solid gym choice. All the equipment you need. Staff is friendly. I’ve even made some friends here. My only complaint is the hours... on weekends they need to stay open until at least 10pm in my opinion. Other than that, I’m happy.

CAUTION! Think twice before signing ANY contract for membership at Ben White location. Visit another gym or location! In June of 2018, I tore meniscus in my left knee in several places which required surgery & a longer than average recovery period since I have arthritis & am over age 60.You cannot cancel a Gold’s Gym membership by phone or email so I hobbled in on crutches to fill out the form. After completing form, I asked young blond associate at front counter if my credit card would be charged again after handing him the form. Twice, he replied “No” so imagine my surprise when my card was charged again!I went in a second time to speak directly to Manager Sunny Reese who informed me to read the fine print in my contract. Although she could see that I was on crutches, had my knee wrapped, and was in pain, told me that I would have to bring back a written physician statement. She showed no sympathy & took zero responsibility for her employee providing misinformation about canceling my membership. You cannot call Gold’s Gym’s Customer Care directly by phone. None of the neighboring Gold’s Gyms would give name / number of Ms. Reese’s supervisor, but I eventually found a compassionate manager who advocated for me.In the meantime, I filed a dispute with my credit card company which credited me back for the two charges that had occurred, but did not identify these charges on my statement as being from Gold’s Gym. By law, when Capital One contacts merchant about a disputed charge, the merchant has 90 days to respond in writing to appeal to have credit card company reverse the credit & charge consumer the amount again. To make a long story short, Gold’s Gym did not contact Capital One during 90 days so my refund was not reversed. Gold’s Gym then credited $97.40 back to my card in August, but then charged a mysterious (punitive?) $40.00 fee on September 7, after membership had been canceled.I was unaware that I was credited twice with a refund since “Gold’s Gym” only appeared once on my credit card statement. After automatically paying my membership for 3+ years (Approximately $4,000+ in dues and personal trainer’s fees) without a single missed or late payment, NO ONE from Gold’s Gym bothered to contact me about this clerical error. Instead, in December, Gold’s Gym sent it to a COLLECTIONS AGENCY!!! (I have an 834 credit Score.) I have been trying for more than a month to resolve this issue without success. “Customer Care” reps only communicate via email and do not sign their names. If you are considering being a member at this location, READ the contract CAREFULLY. Expect to be charged for another month AFTER canceling membership. Protect yourself by NOT giving Gold’s Gym access to your credit card. EXPECT a MAJOR HASSLE when you need to cancel. Go to another gym where management & staff understand meaning of customer service & are capable of demonstrating a little compassion.

I actually really liked this location but the management is unprofessional. I Signed up through a trainer named Lili who was super awesome! And it was explained we (my account plus my friend who was added on my account for $19.99) could cancel at anytime, no contract except apparently there was one and I had to sign a form that I was terminating my membership which okay fine, then I get charged again the next month and when I reached back out to Stephanie the assistant general manager, she said I didn’t cancel in enough time so I got charged another $81 then she assured me I would no longer be charged. Now I just got charged AGAIN and she said that’s because I only canceled my account and not the add on account that’s it. Not a my mistake, I’ll get that corrected if you could just fill this form out and send it back or, let me reach out to my general manager and see what we can do.When someone says they want their entire account deleted that means the whole thing. Not half of it! And as the assistant general manager wouldn’t you double check that? I shouldn’t have to ask someone how to do their job or provide good customer service.I’m no longer a fan of golds gym but if you are, the people who work at the William cannon location are way more helpful. It might be worth signing up with them so you don’t have issues if you’re not going to stay with them.

Edit:So I rejoined Gold's this year and I must say there's been a huge change. I've really enjoyed working out at this location and the staff has been way more helpful since my original experience. Anyone deterred by my original post should definitely consider joining now!Original:Careful, these guys will make it next to impossible to cancel your membership once it's active. They kept sending me to their support number then back into the gym. The only way to cancel your membership is to talk to a general manager and they put you through a whole sketchy song and dance before you can finally cancel it. Seriously, what a waste of time. The gym is fine, I was just using it to cross train for another sport and didn't need the membership after I was done rehabbing.

This gym is terrible now. It's full of people with no gym etiquette and a staff just as clueless. Absolutely no enforcement of standard gym rules makes it even worse. It's no longer an enjoyable gym environment. Dumbells are taken to all corners of the gym and not returned. Same with barbells. The staff is usually too busy watching videos on their cell phones or knitting at the front desk to try and make the place better. People sit on benches and machines and play with their cell phones non stop while others wait in them. The treadmills are never clean. Most are covered with sweat stains. There is no excuse for the equipment to never be cleaned. If you want to hang out and be in the way of people who want to workout this is your place. Otherwise pay the extra money and go to a gym with people who know how to act.

I really enjoyed this gym. My wife and I recently moved away from Austin and we have struggled anywhere else after being at the Ben White Golds. The gym was nice and the staff was always helpful. People were friendly at this location and there was a good workout culture. The number 1 top reason we appreciated this place, however, was because of the kids club. Nelda and the team were lights out. Our son went there most days from age 6 months until he was almost 2. I feel like the care he received was like he was being watched by family. The kids in the kids club were always being engaged, were taught sharing and social skills, and all seemed to be happy. This kids club is not just a holding pen for your children while you work out. I am fairly certain that our son's favorite time of the day was when he got to the gym and was greeted with smiles from the outstanding kids club team.Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This gym is crazy crowded even at what would normally be considered non-peak times to go. That coupled with their limited free weight equipment makes this a difficult gym to go to and either get a full workout in or get done in a timely manner. While I do frequent this gym sometimes I drive out to the Golds at Belterra which is far superior just for a little more breathing room.

I’ve tried to cancel my membership so many times with this place and they KEEP charging me. Everytime I speak to someone at the gym they’re extremely rude and make it seem like it’s my fault. Tried to cancel my membership twice! I waited until my 3 month contract was over (it’s been 5 months) and I called to cancel because I am out of the country. The first time it was never documented and the second time I was promised it was cancelled but then I got charged again today! I was told that it takes 30 days to process after I cancelled it... I cancelled the day after I was charged so it fell within the 30 days. What a convenient little policy on their part! Anyways, I’ve never written a review but this place has literally been just taking my money so before you sign up with this place you should ask how hard it is to cancel their service. Might be better if you just go somewhere else.

Horrible experience, I had an emergency where I had to cancel the next day, I signed up and the person who signed me up said they would take care of it. I was charged less then a month later and then went in to personally have it canceled and I was charged again! Instead trying to conserve their business “oh I’m sorry is everything ok”, they try to be slick and get money. It was still available for a full refund at the time of cancellation! Wouldn’t recommend a gym that doesn’t actually care for its customers.

My local gym is in San Antonio and I just started working in Austin, so I came to this location. Staff was friendly overall clean but the amenities are lacking greatly. There are no small towel for your work out or towels for the showers . My other golds gym not only had towels but shampoo, conditioner, q-tips, disposable razors and various other things that are greatly appreciated when you forget something and can't go home for it.Maybe the Gold's Gym's in SA have me spoiled or this location just needs to step up their game.
