New York Sports Club, located at 1 Bulfinch Pl, Boston, MA, offers a mixed bag of experiences according to its patrons. The gym is praised for its friendly staff, ample space, and a variety of equipment that support a diverse range of workout routines. Many members appreciate the clean environment and convenient downtown location, which is especially beneficial for those working nearby. However, significant complaints about outdated, poorly maintained equipment and the condition of the facilities cannot be ignored. My friend #21 at the front always knows how to make me laugh when I walk in the door always knows how to bring the energy!!! Knows a lot of the members names. The club has really changed cultures for the positive with the new management in place. Excited for the future of this club with the new classes and demos they are offering here. I recommend coming here and joining as you will not be disappointed.

#1: Terrible ManagementTried to upgrade my membership so I could go to all the locations in Boston. Submitted the request TWICE (IN PERSON) (TO A MANAGER) and never went into effect because they had “no record of the request”.#2: Unusably Dirty Locker RoomsPretty self explanatory, and I grew up on a farm so my tolerance is high for that kind of thing.#3: Small to the point you can’t even move around, not even only during peak hours (Government Center Location).#4: 45 day cancellation fee (even for month-to-month memberships), and a cancellation fee. Cancellations must be submitted in writing, but given my track record of submitting documentation to them and having them pretend it doesn’t exist, they’re basically holding my money hostage.Avoid this gym at all costs. Go to equinox, they’re 3 times the price but they don’t play games with their customers. I’m in the process of taking legal action against BSCs parent company.

Becareful of cancelling your membership. You need to give a 45 day notice and must come in person. I was out of state for a few months and they said their was no way to cancel if I couldn’t come in. Later they said I could send a certified letter which was still a hassle. Most of the staff I spoke to was very friendly however there are some that give false information. I asked to put my membership on hold for a month and the women on the phone said it’s fine, and then I ended up getting charged the full price for the month. After calling again I found out you need to tell them on the first of the month (I called the 2nd) but the first women never mentioned any of that to me. They also don’t do any type of refunds. All they can do is credit your account which doesn’t help since I’m cancelling my membership.

This place is great! The classes are awesome, and the staff is super friendly! I love all the trainers but have been working with Ashleigh and Luis! They are super invested in my goals, and I feel truly appreciated! The management is also great, Jess is super helpful and is always available to answer my questions! Bryan, the fitness manager is also great, as he was able to answer all of my questions regarding personal training! Great place to workout 10/10 recommend!

Like many people with questionable (read: non-existent) fitness habits, I started off 2018 by buying a gym membership. I had some idea of how to use the treadmill and the bike, but anything beyond cardio equipment was a little intimidating. One of the gym managers suggested personal training, so I signed up for a few sessions with Roxy Hesh. Roxy is the best trainer a beginner like me could ask for – patient, thorough, and supportive of my fitness goals. She always managed to strike the perfect balance between pushing me to work harder, and easing off to keep me from over-exerting myself. Our workouts were always planned in advance, and she even sent me the workouts afterwards so I don’t forget what we did. I highly recommend Roxy to anyone who is new to fitness and is looking for guidance!

So the worst part to any gym, are the trainers. Any regular can tell you that, but at this gym they are particularly obnoxious. These people, who train out of shape or over the hill clients and who overcharge to do so, have recently decided that they need to be more annoying than normal. Specifically when the gym is at its busiest they reserve multiple benches or sets of weights, for a single client. I have personally seen this multiple times from multiple trainers. This strategy makes the fairly cramped basement gym feel even smaller. People who are just trying to get through their workouts are now having to wait longer because the trainers think that they are special.

I’ve been to Roxy’s yoga classes, and have also had personal training sessions with her. She is amazing to work with, very attentive in both a solo and group setting, and adjusts her workouts as needed to fit a person’s need. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!

They can't keep the billing straight and seems nearly impossible to resolve any billing issues. It is a revolving door with staff from week to week. They do have good equipment and it is clean.

I like it. Good equipment and lots of space. But there are way to many people who forget they aren't the only people in the space. The locker rooms are nasty.

Pro: locationCons:- Cardio equipment poorly maintained- showers and dressing rooms are disgusting- Customer service is not considered in any single process of this organization - from billing to day to day.- They will charge you for everything they possibly can - even 30 days after you cancel. Pricing deals are specifically to generate new leads as people realize there are better options- customer loyalty is exploited rather than celebrated - you may find others are paying less than half of what you do based on the time of year they sign up.- Contracts are inflexible, Unaccommodating,- Had two issues with billing and collections where they had been double charging me for 4 months. It took me half a year to get money back.In short , Keep shopping. Liars and thieves.
