Our school recently purchased a self-defense training package for students enrolled in the Homeland Security/Criminal Justice Program at Burlington Tech. Our instructor Dan exceeded expectations! He created a comfortable and engaging environment for our students and quickly adapted his teaching style to meet the needs of a younger audience. Dan is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his work. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to train with Dan.

I’ve had quite a good experience working with Water and Rock. Jaspeth has been super open and clear with communication, and flexible with my schedule as a student. My instructor Dan is also very kind and understanding, and has been making my training both fun and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

DO NOT waste your money on this establishment. The owner (Japeth) is a cheap, sketchy dude. Everything about this business is low quality and the owner will take advantage of you.

I recently took a training with Suzanne and absolutely loved everything about my experience! I love her warmth and professionalism in sharing her love for yoga and light! Highly recommend her classes! I learned so much and gained confidence to continue sharing yoga with kiddos!

In June of 2019 Water and Rock Studio invited me and my goats (Contrary, Aura and Lodge) to participate in offering goat yoga sessions. My three goats are mature, relaxed and certainly do not jump. Japheth and Suzanne, owners of Water and Rock Studio, were not deterred. The cozy clean barn, beautiful tree sheltered pastures, expansive yard and wandering goats welcomed each person and assured them of a unique experience. The folks at Water and Rock Studio are dedicated to the services they provide, also caring for the farmer, animals and earth. We enjoyed the company of the folks attending the sessions, each person contributed to the socialization of the goats and for those of you who remember Contrary (aka Tiny Tim) she is gaining weight and thriving. Thanks a bunch, to Water and Rock and to everyone who helped make this summer so special. Best wishes from Ellie and the Goats of Contrary’s Whey Farm & Creamery.

The Good:I love the kickboxing classes and instructors and the Burlington location. They are fantastic and funny and supportive. Classes are always energetic and varied in technique. So why a poor review? Bad business. Terrible and rude owner.I signed up to learn kickboxing in a studio, with a coach, on March 3 2020. The studio location closed 19 days later due to COVID-19. I was charged again for April, and reached out as to why, since we are physically banned from attending classes. The owner said that it was never specified whether classes were online or in person, and that classes were now virtual. How do you learn kickboxing when you are in social isolation and have zero kickboxing equipment? Would you consider that an equal trade to a physical classes, with people to practice on, and coach standing there fixing your posture? No. That's not what I signed up and paid for. I understand the pandemic is difficult for everyone, but I expected a business owner to understand extenuating circumstances and be flexible, as the rest of the world is.I tried to explain that to the owner but he kept going on about how they were doing everything "contractually obligated" and "no one else has pressed this issue" (which I highly doubt).Asked to pause my account - "No." Asked to cancel my membership - "No." Owner has zero sense of humanity or customer service, only a desperate greed for your money.Be a human during this pandemic and refund my $40. I can use it for my groceries this month, or gas, or heat.

Like other 1 star reviewers, I loved the kickboxing classes and instructor. It was extremely fun, not awkward, and I looked forward to coming back every week, but I will NOT being going back unless there is a new owner. The owner will try to trap you into monthly subscriptions for the rest of your life for one excuse or the other. If you try to break out of your subscription before the end, the owner will make you pay out the rest of whatever contract he made up for you (even during the COVID pandemic). If you don't pay back the rest of what he says you owe, even if you owe UNDER $40, he will send debt collectors after you that will constantly harass you or threaten to sue you. If you try to reason with him, he will go on about how important he is, how good his resume is, how he's been on TV 'multiple' times, and that he once worked for a Fortune 500 company (I can't even make this up).And let me make this clear, I'm all about supporting local businesses. They are very important to our economy and if there's one thing Vermont is about it's small businesses. But this is not one you should support. If the instructors create their own studio I will be the first one in line.

The single star is for my instructor who was actually really good (she has since left) but the business methods of her employer are obnoxious. The "free evaluation" he offers is nothing but a sales pitch to get you to sign a contract and if you do so he will hound you if you try to end it early. When I could no longer make classes I gave a month's notice and paid for 6 weeks of classes that I couldn't take in order to get out of my contract and he is still after the final month's payment and has sent the bill to a credit collections agency! I have never in my entire life been spoken to or rather, yelled at and interrupted in the manner that Japheth did and I would advise anyone considering this company to run don't walk away!

My teen and I took a goat yoga class together and left in a seriously good mood! She did a little less yoga than me but that’s the okay! You’re welcome to sit on your mat and cuddle/pet/feed a goat if you want. Fun + therapeutic + judgement free + ADORABLE + one size fits all. How amazing is that? I’m looking forward to trying the other animal yoga classes with my other animal loving girls.
