Great place! Japheth is really good at working with people one on one. He helps you build a personal plan with realistic nutrition and fitness goals based on your needs.

I’ve only tried one class so far, the kick boxing, and I must say I really enjoyed it. It’s a fun group of people to practice with and the workout was intense yet easy to keep up with even for my first time.

For 20 years I struggled with weight gain from hypothyroidism and gluten intolerance. I felt sluggish a lot of the time. I tried every weight loss and exercise known to man, to no avail. Then, in walked Japeth of Water and Rock studio. To date, working with Japeth weekly, I have lost ten pounds and significant body fat. I am on a healthy eating plan and a focused exercise routine. Most importantly my bp has dropped from 195/90 to 127/77. My ankles no longer swell up when I fly, which is frequent for my work. I am happier, more energetic and I feel younger. Japeth is a brilliant, kind and incredibly motivating human being. You should give it a try. Alice R

I joined Water and Rock Studio just speaking with Japheth for our first phone consultation. He knows his stuff and has a friendly way of talking about Water and Rock. My main interest was the Krav Maga/self defense classes and I was very impressed with my first class. I was involved with martial arts for 15 years and it was nice to connect with that again. I've been continuing to go to the self defense classes as it is taught by skilled people and is an open, relaxed, and supportive atmosphere. Bravo, Water and Rock!

Went to a free class just to see for myself whether the review posted by Alexis Pell was accurate. She's either a liar or has a mission to dis the studio. It was spotless and Daria, my instructor was brilliant. Not only is she a professional Russian dancer, a terrific yoga teacher, but also a medical doctor. I think Google needs a policy regarding fakenews applied to fake reviews which should be deleted. I look forward to returning to Water and Rock Studio on a regular basis. Thanks for a great introduction!

It is with mixed feelings that I write this review. Today was the final day of my 30d trial period, and I am so thankful that I waited to write this.First the good - I attended a handful of classes and came to love those on Thursday evenings with Grace. She is an excellent and gentle instructor with a very soothing, peaceful style. I was actually planning to enroll in the ten-pack after today’s class purely to continue with her.But now the bad - as I mentioned, today was the expiry date of my trial period ("expires on 3/7/2019" is the phrasing). If you have ever had a drivers license, paid for insurance coverage, or used a coupon you would understand that the this date is the last acceptable date of use. In fact, unless otherwise clearly stated, the legal deadline is midnight on that date. I mentioned it upon arriving in class, however after class completion the owner Japheth stopped me and my husband to tell us we owed $20 each for the drop-in unless we were to enroll in more classes (from which today’s attendance would be deducted). We discussed this for a while, he claimed that today’s date was explicitly noted in writing (to which I agree), meaning that my month-long membership actually expired yesterday (if it said "EXPIRED on.." I would agree). He was condescending when saying that we are the only two to have ever had this confusion, and he repeatedly interrupted me and spoke over me. In the end I called him out on the interruptions and recommended that this be clarified on the initial enrollment (to which he again interrupted and spoke over me). In the end I had to just walk away because he clearly had no interest in communicating or preventing recurrence of this issue (overall shockingly poor customer service). I happily paid for the one-off $20 course because I did enjoy it and integrity is everything to me. However, I absolutely will never be returning to this studio purely based on the fact that the owner has no integrity and doesn’t seem to be a very good, genuine, or even reasonable person. Tonight, after finally reading reviews about his Philadelphia location of the same name, it appears that questionable business practices are nothing new. I have heard wonderful things about the yoga studio across the street and will let my money speak for me as I take it there instead.ADDENDUM AFTER INITIAL REPLY FROM BUSINESS OWNER: Again, the key issue here is that the phrasing states "expires on 3/7/2019" rather than "expired on 3/7/2019". These words are very different, both linguistically and legally. The way you have it phrased, legally the memberships are valid until midnight of the "expires by" date (I will attempt to add an image of this for anyone reading this review). Again, for my particular case it is irrelevant as there are plenty of yoga studios in town and I am happy to have paid a $20 fee for the benefit of not interacting with you beyond this review, but for the sake of your business and your future customers that may be blindsided with a surprise $20 fee, it is ESSENTIAL that you correct this. I understand that you do not wish to hear feedback, but I really truly am trying to be an advocate for your clients and ultimately for you/your business. I enjoyed my classes with Grace and would have loved to continue with her, but morally I cannot support a company or individual that operates against my ethics and the law, at the clients' expense. If you had simply discussed the problem and possible solutions with me rather than interrupting and shutting me down, we could have ended this interaction in a more positive way for all of us. It is great that you have not encountered anyone attempting to use the pass on the last eligible date or that deemed it worthwhile to make a fuss over $20, but I will be an advocate for future customers and urge you to be legal and upfront. As for your comments relating to my husband buying a 10-class pass, he is actually an independent person and if he wants to continue it's fine with me -- morally I remain opposed to your approach and lack of respect for clients.

Amazing Instructor, but the studio is filthy. And I’m not talking about in between cleanings. There was hair and dust EVERYWHERE. Nobody moves anything to clean the mats so the dust underneath the shelves is an inch high. Even the other people in the class thought it was disgusting. He tried to sell me a monthly package via text, and I very nice said "The instructor was great ,but the studio was filthy, so I don't think I will be going back" He immediately began accusing me of false accusations. Thats when I realized he had issues beyond me.The gentleman running this place tried to get me to buy into a ton of extra products. This is why he has such a low intro rate. You really do get what you pay for.I cant speak for his other medical classes, but I can speak for the studio. Awful business and even worse owner. Save your time and go elsewhere.

I have been searching for krav maga/self defense training for years and found Water and Rock Studio last December. I finally found what I was looking for and enjoy group class and private class immensely. Japheth is very skilled, professional and friendly. I can't recommend this studio enough!

Best self-defense classes I've ever taken. Great workout and after every class you walk out having learned a new way to defend yourself. Students of different ages and fitness levels are all friendly and supportive of each other.
