I like the variety of equipment and the price. But it is way way way too busy all the time for me. Don't feel like there's enough percent of the floor dedicated to free weights because no matter when you go they're always full. If you can handle that you'll like it but not for me.

I've worked out here over three years now and I think the facilities are good. It's a big gym with a good amount of equipment and they recently updated some of their equipment. Gets busy around 3PM-7ish. Staff are generally friendly. The 1 star is how predatory this gym is. I'm never referring people to this establishment again and I tell friends to look elsewhere. Signing up with one of their deals traps you into this never ending cycle of deceit. A friend of mine has been fighting unusual charges, changing memberships, and they put her billing info and membership details under a different fake name. Every time they promise you a plan has been changed or updated or a resolution has been reached, check your bank statement because I promise you they're lying. My friends probably been overcharged in the hundreds of dollars by now and there's nothing we can do about it. Stay away, but since there aren't many other gyms out there, if you have to pick this one just don't even bother with a promo and read the fine print several times. I'd recommend recording conversations because the amount of time we've been gaslighted by their management or whoever handles their accounts is insane.

I'm amending my review. I used to love this place, but I'm finding myself more and more irritated with the facility, employees, and other gym-goers. There are 36 TVs in the gym, there are exactly 6 that are operational. One has had the same Spring training baseball image frozen since March. We're at the end of May. It's ridiculous. You can almost bet money that at least 3 of the cable machines are down for at least 2 months. When they're fixed, the others will be broke. The weights don't get put back or re-racked, at all. Forget common decency. I've spoken with the employees about the weights and am met with shrugs. They're too busy checking their phones to really do anything about it. You'd be lucky if the dumbells are even next to the one they pair with. But hey, don't worry! You can always find at least 3-5 trainers standing behind their desk chatting while there's chaos in the rest of the gym.In Summary: If what you're after is a bro-gym with people who are too full of themselves to have common decency to pick up after themselves, then look no further: Crunch Fitness in Champaign is your place. What you pay for is what you get.

I have been here since before they opened and it has went downhill so badly. I drive 45 min just to tan bc of the comrodery with the employees. That's not the case anymore. Josh is the only decent employee left. And apparently corporate doesn't have a number. And biling will call you 5 times a day and at 1 am and wake you up.

Had billing issues where I ended up charged twice for the annual fee. Calling never got me anywhere so I came in and talked to the general manager, Josh. Josh didn't initially believe me and asked to see my bank statements. I obliged. He finally understood the issue and claimed it was something with an outside software that he needed to contact and it was take 10 days to get a refund. That was a month ago. Since then, I've been calling and someone named Parker keeps answering saying he will give the message to Josh. Josh never calls back. Since, Crunch has billed me a late fee to my regular membership for some reason on top of that. I cannot come in and try to chase the manager down because I'm going through chemotherapy treatments and have not been in. I'm starting a dispute with my bank today and filing a BBB complaint. No refund. No courtesy of a returned call after leaving several messages over the course of three weeks.

Machines are always broke and they take weeks to months to fix them. One time the sauna was broken for about 3 or 4 months and they just recently fixed it. Worst crunch I’ve probably ever been too.

The gym staff mislead me on the terms of my membership to rope me into a membership plan that I told them was not ideal for me. I move around a lot and stated that I did not want to be on a long term contract. So they told me I could bypass the contract by signing on at $25/Mo and then downgrading to the $10/Mo plan. They said this would allow me to be on the $10/Mo plan without being on a contract. When I went to downgrade my plan they are now telling me I have to sign a 1-year contract and will not honor what they promised me.The gym itself is also filthy. I'm pretty sure the men's bathroom does not get regularly cleaned. The spray bottles and paper towels to wipe equipment down are almost always empty, and there is dirt all over the floor of the gym. That added to the fact that there is always multiple pieces of equipment broken at a time that take weeks to get fixed.

I just signed up the other day. I was told it was mandatory to see a trainer and go through A scan and let them help you with your plan for work outs. I didn’t really want to and to be honest I would have went back to planet fitness if I would have know before I walked in the door. It was a total sales pitch the trainer did work with me for a few but I did hear her telling her boss that I had said no for the trainers. It just felt like too much pressure to me and to tell me it is mandatory to let them do a sales pitch. I did not like it at all and the trainers are definitely not overly nice either.

I highly recommend being a member at crunch fitness! Great to see the new equipment being installed and a new layout in several areas! The PT department is top level and provide a strong resource. The members put in work and everyone seems to be focused on their own workout which is great. Thankful to have a crunch fitness in Champaign, IL.
