This gym is really great. I bought a training package for 3 months. Started today. Working with Fred. Highly recommend. He may end up killing me, but he definitely knows his stuff. The gym itself is terrific. All the equipment, and enough to accommodate lots of people. No waiting for something to open up. I can also use the downtown location with my membership. Which is nice. Downtown seems like more of a satellite location, but for me it's fine.

Joined for 4 months when I was in Charleston. Had an awesome experience, staff is very friendly and welcoming and the facilities are kept in great condition. There’s a wide variety of equipment, could spend all day in there. Would 10/10 recommend Pivotal to everyone.

Beware!!!! I like others have been trying to cancel my membership and still getting charged on my account even though I have it in writing to cancel. After reaching out on numerous occasions to the manager I have never received a phone call back. When I signed up, I asked if there were any other fees beside the $19.95 and if I could cancel with a 30 day notice and the answer was that it was just a $19.95 charge and can cancel anytime....this is obviously not correct and the manager will basically accuse you of lying if confronted. There is a $60 annual membership fee they charge 2 months after signing up that they do not tell you about, as he said "no one would sign up if it was upfront" so they hide it in hopes you don't notice on your statement. It is not the fee, it is the dishonesty. Come to find out, the manager is the only person you can talk to and there is not higher up so unless he feels like calling you back you will not hear from him and nothing will get resolved. Terrible business and the facilities are greatly in need of updating.

This location is huge and lots of equipment. I enjoy the layout. Cardio is along one wall with lots of TVs to take your mind off the grind.Free weights are across the room and boy howdy do they have a selection. Dumbbells that range from 5 lbs to over 100lbs.I never have to wait on a squat rack because there are like 5 of them here. They offer a cage in the middle for full on MMA training. Punching bags, ropes, it's awesome. My girl loves the classes. RedZone is her favorite. The instructors are motivating without being belittling or intimidating. They have done a great job observing the safety precautions of covid and have the cleanest bathrooms of any gym I've been in. (looking at you Golds on James Island 🤮)I've been a member here for two ish years and when I did have a problem they were fast to respond and let me know how we could get things resolved.TL:DR great equipment, great trainers, very clean, amazing gym.

Everything about the gym is great, nice people, clean equipment, good lighting. But Nobody puts the weight back where it belongs. And if you have to do anything administratively at the front desk expect it to take longer than usual, they don't man the desk.

The gym itself is awesome. It has everything. Plenty of equipment. Lost of great classes. And very clean despite previous posts. Most of the trainers are very attentive and helpful. It creates a very supportive atmosphere. There is a carsalesman side of it as they are there to sell you trainer sessions and classes, and there a few trainers that I think could care less, but that seems to be the case in any gym. I have worked out at 3 or 4 gyms in the area, and this is my favorite by far.

This is to warn current and prospective members of Pivotal Fitness not to sign a long term contract for membership and to either do only a month-to-month membership or cancel your membership and join another fitness club; Gold’s Gym, Crunch Fitness and Planet Fitness are much better alternatives. Briefly, the reason for this warning is that Pivotal Fitness management is not to be trusted regarding membership contracts and charges. In our case, we are still owed $240 for one of the two memberships that Pivotal Fitness cancelled, but has not refunded. The sequence of events was as follows:•January 11: renewed our two memberships for 15 months for $240 per membership; this was based on the assumption that the facility on Johnnie Dodds Blvd in Mount Pleasant would remain open for the 15 months. My husband and I had been members at this facility (managed first by Eco Fitness and then by Pivotal Fitness) since 2014 and 2012, respectively;•January 20: email from Pivotal Fitness owner to members announcing that the Johnnie Dodds facility would be closing on January 22;•January 20, immediately after owner’s email: sent email to Pivotal Fitness General Manager to cancel our two memberships and credit our VISA account with a refund. GM responded that he would;•February 27: after not receiving a refund and several email exchanges with the GM, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Pivotal Fitness did not respond to any of the BBB three notices of the complaint to them, the first on March 8 and the third on April 13;•March 18: after still no refund, even after contacting Peak Payment Solutions, the business that performs billing for Pivotal Fitness, contacted VISA to dispute the two membership charges from January 11;•March 22 – Pivotal Fitness credited our VISA account with $240 for one membership;•March 23 – April 9: multiple emails to Pivotal Fitness owner, GM and Peak Payment Solutions regarding not receiving second refund; no refund received.

Do not go to this gym, ever. Do not even consider it. I have been contacting them for months on end with no e-mail, no returned phone call. Paperwork was signed to cancel my membership in September 2020, the last person I spoke with said it was not processed until March 2021 and here I am a year later and they claim I owe them money. How do you not process paperwork for 6-7 months!? It is unprofessional, there is no communication and not to mention the last time I was there, most of the equipment had tears in the seats or handles of machines. Never will I step foot in here again.

Terrible customer service joined this gym for a year and it was a nightmare dealing with Nate who was the manager and now somehow oversees several locations. Was very unaccomidating, unprofessional and does not follow through with his word. on top of bad service the gym was never that clean in my opinion through COVID19 the lack of care was shocking. I was also a member at golds over the past few years because I love the sauna and it is A MUCH BETTER GYM, do yourself a favor and join another gym. trust me.
