Billie (white hair front foyer/office) was EXTREMELY RUDE and condescending to two of 18 year old members on 2-22-2022 after their workout. She demanded proof of their 24 hour status though could’ve easily scanned their cards by making them go outside and scan the cards in front of other members that are classmates. As a paying member of the 24 hour option and a 10 year member of this organization I am appalled that her “sorry” was sarcastic followed by another employee who justified the actions by saying these two had doppelgängers with unauthorized access attempts. Thankful I wasn’t there to witness; however, Billie needs additional training to avoid unnecessary incidents such as these. UNSATISFACTORY YMCA!

Ms. Naomi is hands down the best swim instructor around! Our kids (1, 3, and 5 yrs old) love her. She pushes them to reach beyond their current abilities so that they are constantly challenged. They improve with every lesson with Ms. Naomi. She is the only reason we keep coming back to this YMCA location for swim lessons.

The Y's sense of logic is a little off when it comes to their pool, how is it logical that a kid has to tread water in a 5' pool in order to go down a slide that empties them into a 4' pool? Who ever the aquatics director is needs to think about a reevaluation of their swim policy...

I liked it fun I only , went for the pool and the first 10 days I liked , it but they where , doing some swimming lessons , and they should do it in the morning cause I went ! And everything was reserved , by people and , when I went to the one inside again reserved and told me I couldn’t swim I had to stay there and , the side watching like an idiot.

Been coming here the last few months. My son has been in swim lessons. This last month Ms Naomi has been his instructor. She had been so encouraging and he has developed beyond words under her guidance. Thank you so much Ms Naomi, I am so pleased with his development and the strides he's made in him swimming all thanks to you.!! Keep up the great work! Ask for Ms "Omi", you won't regret it!

Our whole family loves the YMCA facilities, but this is so far from a Christian organization. Our 11 year old son scraped his toe on an exposed fragment by the outdoor pool. They insisted on doing an accident report (even though we were in a hurry to leave and there was no blood). As the lifeguard was filling out the report, THEY ASKED MY CLEARLY MALE SON WHAT HE IDENTIFIES AS!First of all, that question is ridiculous. Secondly, my son had no idea there are mentally ill people with gender dysphoria and I had to explain it to him because of their wokeness. (They also celebrated pride month, which, whatever, but stop calling yourself “Christian”)

Edit: the 24/7 access is amazing. Wish people would pick there weights up still.Number 1. This gym is very crowded in the weight room. This is in large part to the fact that the weight room is very poorly organized. The huge TRX machine takes up so much space and has very little value. I understand the cardio equipment for people with disabilities, but the rowing machine can be moved up stairs. The weight room is also lacking a proper should press machine, abdominal machine, and lacks any sort of hammer strength equipment.Number 2. The cardio room has tons of cardio equipment. The cardio room is much less crowded and really does not need all the machines, where that extra space could be used for a stretching abdominal area.Number 3. The front desk staff and weight room staff are always very friendly.Number 4. Gym cleanliness is top notch. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing the equipment is clean while working out. The dust does need to be vacuumed more frequently.Number 5. The pricing structure forces people to pay for all the gym features which include classes, two pools, childcare, and kid zone. I do not use any of those features and still have to pay for it, which is $70 per month for a single person membership. The price is too high for being in Chesapeake. I do like the recent change where the YMCA is no nationwide, meaning if I travel I can likely find a gym to use still.Number 6. Parking. The parking is a mess because that sentera center keeps modifying which parking spots are reserved or not reserved.Overall the gym has mediocre weight lifting equipment and gets crowded compared to the price you have to pay. Some rearranging could greatly improve this gym.

Clean, nice, newer facility for a competitive monthly price. Only downside is while the pool(s) are large, usually only one or two lanes are open for laps due to swim lessons and it can be a long wait for one to open.

I think some workers are up to something they're not supposed to like it's their personal business. This is my Y also! I don't want your frienship but your service. I'm not going to your house ever. If you can't handle the ones who deviate from your natural features, then you must leave. This is not your house but the YMCASHR! No fellow customer gives me bad behavior.
