Onelife Fitness - Chesapeake Square Gym

This gym is overall a pretty good commercial gym. They do lack some plated weights, considering how many members are here. The child caretakers are AMAZING! Although I will say, there is a HUGE lack of support from other staff to the child care area. For example, I dropped off my kids, two of which are babies and there was more infants as well with only one staff member. When I went to scan my membership card there were three employees at the front desk (2 blue shirts and 1 black shirt), I asked if anyone is going to go in there and help and they looked at each other, one popped their head in the child care and walked right out. He went back to the front desk to keep chatting with the other employees for a friendly chat... 🤷🏼. No help was given.

The facilities are nice and clean. Staff is friendly. As a new member I'd tell others to skip the 2 free "personal training" sessions that are complementary when you join. They're simply a sales pitch with a body scan. I was looking forward to having some input on a workout routine but was sadly left with body scan results and no path forward. Only options for training were 6 or 4 times per month which doesn't fit my needs. I now have to find a trainer outside of this gym so I'm not sure how that'll work out for my membership going forward. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Membership also does NOT include childcare, tanning, or zone 4.

This is my favorite gym in all of the seven cities. It is clean, the staff is nice, and there are lots of different options for a workout. I think everyone should at least give it a try… you won’t be disappointed (and that’s on MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB) 😂🤣😂 …

I absolutely love this gym! The staff are always super friendly and helpful. The place is spotless and I constantly see them cleaning it. They usually fix or replace broken/old equipment pretty quickly. They have a steam room, sauna, pool, and tons of classes all included in your reasonably priced membership. For the most part everyone who goes here is super nice and I’ve made tons of friends over the last year and a half coming here. 10000% recommend this gym!

We love going to Onelife. We have been to many of the Onelife locations in Hampton Roads and this is definitely one of our favorites. The gym is very clean, including the bathrooms and the kids club. The staff is friendly and helpful. My kids and I love seeing Ms. Kathleen at the front desk each morning we come. She always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming. Our kids love the kids club too. The staff know them by name and do a great job keeping up with them or letting us know if something has happened whether it’s a needed diaper change or a child is upset. They have plenty of weights for all to share and many pieces of equipment for any style of workout. The recent updates make it even better. Whether you’re looking to do functional fitness, CrossFit style workouts, bodybuilding, cardio, etc. there is something for everyone!

Top Rate Facility! Great location (on my way to work). Always incredibly clean, variety of training equipment and resources. Nikki, at the front desk is just the BEST! She always sets an awesome tone for the workout! Best gym and staff in Hampton Roads!

So I usually patronize this gym when I am down in VA visiting my Mom. The facility is very well equipped and clean. It has plenty of machines and free weights to satisy 99% of gym goers. It caters to beginners up to and including advanced lifters. One thing I did notice was that during peak hours weight plates (10-25-35-45) are very sparse due to so many ppl using the plate loaded machines. Also, heavy power lifters may not find a suitable area to power train...just my observation. Other than that, this is a great facility to train!

I received a advertisement in the mail and I’ve tried twice to talk to someone in the store to get details. The first phone call resulted in someone calling back hours later and missed the call. The second time the lady on the phone said she would get the manager and the. She became the in between conversation spokesman. The advertisement said 29.99 a month but I asked how much for the down payment she said I guess 99.00. What kind of mess is that? I will just stay at planet fitness at least they have time to talk to you and explain the fees. I don’t think the lady was even right when she told me 99.00 sounded like she had some pressing matters on the other end that wasmore important than answering a potential customers question.

Great gym glad they’re back open with normal operating hours! I have a day job and it’s very convenient that they’re open til 10 on the weekdays. The staff is awesome here and the facility is always clean. I love this location because it has a pool. There is no longer a requirement to wear masks here if you are vaccinated.

The staff is always pleasant. The gym is always clean, no matter what time of day. Even during peak hours there is always an area for you to train. I love that there is a sauna and steam room. Lastly, there’s a staff member named Kathleen. Kathleen is ALWAYS so friendly and greets you with a smile. She is so personable and can spark up conversation with anyone. She makes my day every time I walk in the gym. 10/10 location.
