The upstairs is monopolized all day long with Dwayne Johnson wannabes that ask "do you wanna go outside" when you point out that the gym policy is to share the equipment. They stay on multiple pieces of equipment for hours, placing holds on pieces they're not using with weight belts and shaker bottles.Yesterday two gigachads lifted dumbbells right infront of the weight rack, shutting down access to all dumbbells while they stared at themselves in the mirror a-pumpin' away. The staff knows this too because they're all buddies. If it's not a one of these clowns, then it's a group of kids who sit on benches for 30 mins plus chatting it up and sitting on their phones. Yesterday three Valley High kids sat on a bench with three 45 lbs plates unused on the floor, I asked if I could use one of the unused plates and they said, "we're about to use them" and went back to their conversation. These kids were nit putting up four plates, so whatever. You look around and see a racks near a leg machine full of 45lb plates while several pieces have no plates because of people maxing out and not returning the weights where they got them.My kids don't care for the "kids club" because it's only enjoyable for kids under 10. This gym won't let a 12 year old use the resources while under adult supervision, but will let teenagers sit on the weights all day.Come enjoy some real West Des Moines slice-o-life with affluent children and toxic masculinity. Please read between the lines on these 5star reviews. It's not what it seems. And as far as any response for the owner, save it. You know about these problems and you don't care.

Genesis boasts an indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub and all of the equipment or classes you need to put in work, all included in your membership! The Kids Club is a gem on its own, Jenna is amazing with our kids and their drop off programs are great when you need to run and errand or enjoy a date night. Thanks so much to the team at Genesis!!

Not the best gym in town by any means, but a good one. Here are pros and cons:Pros- Daycare 2 hours a day. Your kids will get tons of interaction with other kids and adults.- Indoor and outdoor pool are really nice- DL platforms are nice and spacious- certain points of the day are relatively slower like 11-3 so you can get whatever equipment you wantCons- Cleanliness is in slow decline post-covid. Most weights are never cleaned by guests or staff. There has been a leak upstairs for a few weeks and it hasn’t been taken care of.- the cafe is never open when it says it’s supposed to be- indecent dressing women and men in the evenings. Likely a pro for most people but not for me.- high schoolers in the evenings are typically disrespectful toward other guests. Hogging equipment, hanging out in large crowds, loud. Also most are indecently dressed as well.

I started personal training with Jeff Burris - he is awesome, pushes me to the edge of where I can go.There are muscles that I didn’t know I had in places I never would have been able to put into use any other way.I am 56, in reasonable health, but haveNot had any formal weight training since high school . And everything I read says muscle mass in highly correlated with health as we age . So I started working out on my own, but had chance to have Jeff train me and I’m sold .

Jeff Burris is an awesome trainer. I've lost over 6 pounds and over 6% body fat. He pushes me beyond what I thought my limits were and it's working.

Great team eager to help anyone in need of assistance. The kids club is awesome, my kids never want to leave. Jenna, always is so kind and makes me feel welcome. The team doesn't make me feel like I am burdening them with my kids, which is very comforting. The building itself is very clean and nice looking. Every is in great condition. Very impressed with everything and everyone there!!!!

This gym is great for parents with littles! Daycare hours are 8-8 which allows me to go anytime. I’ve been a member for 3 years & the daycare staff has been wonderful. Jenna has always taken good care of my 2 year old newborn. It’s wonderful to have some mom time & be able to trust your children are taken care of!

Want to give a huge shout out to the Kids Club staff--especially Jenna, Brooke, and Haley! My daughter is 13 months old and has been going to this gym daycare since I went back to work. They take the time to nurture her and love her-even on her challenging days and going through her "stranger danger" phase. They know us by name and always make me feel comfortable leaving my daughter in their care. Thank you Kids Club Staff!
