Genesis Health Clubs - Mills Civic

Have been with this gym for quite sometime through at least 4 different companies, and since Genesis took over, the maintenance has gone downhill drastically. The hot tub has been broken at least 5 times, and is down way more than it is working. The steam room was down for months, showers have hot water about 60% of the time. Now, they don't even seem to replace light bulbs that are burnt out. The soap/shampoo dispensers seem to be refilled with water, getting thinner every week. I have finally had it and will not be patronizing this business anymore. If I didn't need to finish my contract, I would just end it today.

I adore this Health Club and its quant mid-west vibe. The staff is exactly as many reviews state, exceptional and congenial; they make you want to come back just to chat. For me, Health Clubs have been a daily activity 10 years going and an awesome way to stay busy in land locked states, this one shines a little brighter than my last three. The indoor pool always has room and the water care is always on point. The local Iowa residents that frequent it are very proud but also very friendly in their own way. They can be a little elitist when “just anyone can join” during promotions lol but in no way are the stereotypical, loud, over-conformed critics you find in more upscale “serious” gyms. The conversations are supreme, the facilities are kept up very reasonably and it’s by far the most cost-effective membership I’ve encountered over the last decade. I’m looking forward to spending my last few months in Iowa, predominately at Genesis!

Great, clean gym! The staff is all nice and friendly. My family and I got personal trainers and they were awesome. Training with Jeff has been fun as he is very attentive and motivating. You can tell he loves what he does.

I started training with Jeff Burris at Genesis Health Clubs. Jeff is an incredible trainer! His encouragement and constant motivation pushes me to the next level. I very much appreciate his knowledge as well as his impeccable attention to correct form. His passion to help me succeed is quite apparent. In the 2 months I've been working with Jeff, I've lost 15 pounds and have so much more energy. Every time I'm done with my session, I'm satisfied knowing Jeff has helped me with an awesome workout! I highly recommend Jeff.

Genesis is a massive gym, easily better than any commercial gym in the area. It gets kinda busy but I’m never held back from getting my sets finished because of the people here. Speaking of that everyone that goes here is extremely respectful, and is always willing to help out with lifts. Trainers are available WITH THE PRICE of your membership. No additional cost, amazing services, especially for newcomers.

I am a new member and haven’t been to a gym in 3 years. This gym Has many amenities including a lap pool and lots of cardio equipment. I signed up for personal training sessions to help acclimate myself back into the gym. Outstanding trainers with a wealth of knowledge. I love this gym. Oh and it’s in a perfect location. 😁 …

We have been attending this health club for a few months. Today I ran into multiple equipment issues. One of the stair masters turns on and immediately goes full blast and I almost fell off. The guy next to me said yes, that one is crazy. Very unsafe I’m glad I wasn’t hurt. There was no way of slowing it down. So I decided to use an elliptical. First one was not working all the work outs and resistance was broken. Tried another one. When I finally got going on it and really getting exercise it completely shut off and stopped working. We got frustrated so we gathered the kids and went swimming. Has a nice pool. Nice staff. Wish I could have dried my suit after I was done, but that was broken as well and sent in for repairs. Previously I never was able to use the steam room that was always broken, but was finally able to use that. I just wish their work out equipment was in a great condition and worked or was signs up showing it didn’t so we didn’t try to use them.

Really quite affordable for everything that's included. There's an indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, additional hot tub in each locker room as well as a sauna and steam room in each locker room(only the case with this specific location), their equipment is noticeably newer and higher quality than the other locations around DSM, and my favorite part of it all is the staff. The trainers are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, they're always around if you need something or have a quick question. Same with the rest of the staff too, always polite and helpful. I can wholeheartedly recommend this gym.

I love Genesis Health Clubs! The club itself is very nice (mills civic) but what makes it special are the people, from front desk to courtesy to staff to members, it’s like a big family. Shannon in membership has always gone above and beyond to the people I have referred to the club. I have developed many friendships over the years at the gym, all while getting an excellent workout in!

I have been a member for a long time here. The club is generally clean and the attendants helpful. The locker room is in good shape and the aerobic equipment works most of the time. I do have an issue as I try to be at the gym at 5am most everyday. The current opening attendant waits until just about 5 to open. Today as other days, there were approximately 30 people waiting to get in. Others have opened 10 or 12 minutes early which is a great help. Many of us are on a schedule and an extra ten minutes makes a big difference in how we start our day. A little help from you would be greatly appreciated and go along way towards increasing a positive attitude about the club from your members.
