Bad customer service,I have been member with my family in this club for almost 2 years, I asked today to add my new born daughter to my family account, they asked me to change my account to the new rate which I have to pay around $45 more, wow $45 to add 5 month old baby.when i joined the club 2 years ago, the person who did the contract said , that my rate will be fixed, no change even if add a family member. I asked the manager today to show me where is in my contract that shows my rate should be increased that much money if i add my new born baby, his answer was that he dose not know which is chocking to me, how manager in this big fatality is not familiar with what in their contract, unfortunately California family fitness do not care about the old members, all they are looking is making new contract and more money, shame on you guys.

Great gym and all. Here's why it doesn't get 5 stars (3 reasons). For the love of god please, please put some Hammer Strength machines in there for the chest! At least one!? The two Hammer Strength machines I'm talking about is one that works the mid/lower chest and the other one works the upper chest; both are performed while sitting. There's like 375 cable machines, at least 3 of the cable machines work the same muscles, meaning they're identical. That whole middle area where there's cable machines is only occupied 50% on its best day! There is definitely room for 2, but definitely at least one hammer strength machine. The Hammer Strength machines give such a great pump and help build a lot of muscle/mass in the chest, shoulders and arms. GB3 in the central valley had them at every location, not to mention that their membership cost was $29/month or less with the same amenities...but that's a collateral issue. Hammer Strength machines take up just as much space as any one of the 5,000 cable machines on the floor (I know I said 375 earlier) . Just transfer out those pathetic Hoist machines that make your body rock back and forth like a cradle. Trust me, put those Hammer Strength machines in and I guarantee they will be used more than the cable machines. I'm not going to drive to downtown or the Bond location if I want to use them that bad. I'm already spending a good amount of money for this membership and telling me to drive to the other locations is absurd, especially if you're in the professional field because time is literally money. The burden for me to go to another location to use Hammer Strength machines is greater than your burden to simply add those machines. Not only is your burden less, it serves a utility by diversifying your gym equipment and increasing customer satisfaction. Also, do something about the electronic lockers that keep malfunctioning. Talk to the company who sold them to you and do a swap out or something, check out the warranty on the contract and have those things inspected. It burdens your employees and customer service by having someone go back and forth trying to help a customer who has been locked out due to a malfunctioning locker, that, and its super annoying to the customer and inconvenient. Moreover, can you please, for the love of god, get more leg lift stations?! There's only one leg lift station in the corner, by the entry, behind the stairmaster machines. There is only one, and the one that's there is at an angle. At least get one that's not at an angle, then you'd have two...one at an angle and one straight one. The one that is there is usually occupied and there is no other leg lift station to go to. There's a lot of bogus complaints on here about people's feelings being hurt and whatnot. Especially about the woman complaining about safety checks in the pool area. But, I believe my comment is constructive criticism. This is not only coming from me but many other members feel the same way. Its just that I actually have the backbone to address the issues. You still get 4 stars however!

New to Elk Grove... Being an all-round smimwer, I found the pool area humongous. The lab pool is 6-ft deep throughout, 3-lane lab is sort of narrow, yet water is crystal clear. Salt filter is friendly to skin and hair, not chewing on swimsuits as quickly and badly as chlorine. At peak hour, gotta wait for a spot but generally short waits so far. I wish there is a covering roof over the lab pool as this could help the busy shady time.Steam and sauna are spaciously adequate, yet seem on the lower end of maintenance. Some walk right in with shoes despite the posted signs. Soil, brownish stains seen on the steam room floor and window frame. Contaminated steam already caused an health issue at an LA fitness which was forced closed. FYI.Not much into lifting... The equipment floor is spiffy. Clean, neat, vibrant possibly in parts due to clean, neat, vibrant younger members day in day out (lol)Kind of pricey membership fee yet generally worth the great, friendly service guys and girls and the provided amenities. The best is saved for last... In the categories of friendliness and effectiveness, Andrew Arrieta - the sales manager - is exceling. His working attitude is awesome. Members would feel attentive interacting with him one time and everytime. Andrew appears to run this location so sportily well, not too stiff into the business aspect of the job, like others, that might discourage if not turning prospective members away.

The customer service here is beyond terrible. In the 6 years we've been members here, we've had bad experiences with multiple employees in multiple departments. If ANY other gym in town had a decent pool, we would cancel our membership immediately. Speaking of the pool area, they keep changing and adding more rules seemingly every week. Kids can no longer jump off the side (they've been doing this for 5 years), they cannot wear masks that have the nose covered (seriously????), they now have a "safety break" at the end of every hour which just means more chances for kids to slip and fall while getting in/out of the pool and a wet ground for people to slip on. The workers around the pool sit and chat and cuss right in front of kids, and otherwise just seem to be there to yell at the kids for anything they can possibly think up. They've had to re-do my account several times due to computer errors. Once they had my 10 year old suddenly listed as an adult, so he was denied access to the kids' area. I actually had to bring in a birth certificate to prove my 10-year old was still young enough for the kids' area. I kid you not. This is the asinine level of incompetence. This same child at the age of 7 was still pulling up his pants while he was coming out of the bathroom, and they called me out of my workout and kicked him out because he "exposed himself to little girls", and they "had to notify all of their parents", even though there was clearly no way they could have seen anything regardless because his shirt was down to his knees. They also increased my payment when I got divorced and re-married and changed my ex's name to my new husband on our account. Same amount of people, just swapping out a person. However, they treated it as a "new contract" even though I had been here for several years. I've never had so many experiences with one company that made me seethe with rage. There are plenty of gyms in town for me, but this is the only one with a decent pool, so they keep getting my money, unfortunately. But if you have any other choice, go elsewhere!!!

I came for a trial. The employees were all nice to me. I was most interested in the pool for my water-loving baby. My nephew, who is already a member, advised me they have safety breaks every hour. Seems unnecessary but I understood why because younger children have "accidents." I go out of my way to ensure my baby does not leave "presents" in the pool. I put her in swimming diapers when other parents don't care unfortunately. I think the breaks are for sanitary cleanups when necessary I think or for kids to have restroom breaks. The pool is surprisingly clean. There was an area for swimming lessons, and the instructors were sweethearts to the kids they were teaching. I would trust my baby with them which says a lot because I would only leave my baby in the hands of only a few.

I tried giving this gym chances at trying to redeem themselves and their customer service experience, but they have not been meeting my expectations.Been a member at this location for a while and recommended my mother in law to try out the gym. Came by yesterday 2/27/17 AM with my MIL and I signed her up for the 7 day free trial online, when we got there, the sales rep Brian helped us. I advised him that she’s retired would like to try out the classes like Yoga session which was about to start at 10am, and to see if we can meet with him afterwards. I can give her a tour since I knew my way around the place. Brian said no after confirming with his manager (the other Bryan) and it’s their policy that we have to meet with him first and he have to give us a tour. Fine, let him do his job.Anyways as we sat down, Brian advised us that for the 7 day free trial pass, only access we have is to use the gym equipment, all other activities such as the wellness classes or amenities will not be part of the 7 day pass. If my MIL wanted to try out the Yoga class, I can pay the $15 for the day and bring her in as a guest in order to participate in the class.I advised Brian that per the email that I got on the same day says that “To get the best feel for the club we recommend you participate in as many activities as you can like group fitness classes, strength training equipment, cycle and x-bike classes, swim and aqua fitness activities, and much more.” Also, it was already 10:15, no point in trying to attend the class.Per Brian, he says it varies between gyms, and per his Manager Bryan, that’s what he was told, and this gym at this specific location, there’s been free trial abusers and its new management to prevent this kind of stuff from happening. Therefore, that’s why he couldn’t allow us to try out the classes.  He even pulled out the paper form of the 7 day pass and tried to read the terms and condition to me, which did not state that we were not allowed to do the class, and his excuse was that it might not had been an updated one that he had.End result, I just showed my MIL the gym, we used some of the equipment and machines. Brian didn’t give us a tour like he’s supposed to because it’s the rules. Too bad my MIL did enjoy the gym, even without doing the classes, but with that sales experience she did not like and felt that it was not welcoming.Tried contacting corporate about their sales department but reached a full voicemail.

We've been members since before the facility was even built. It has gone down hill in the past few years. The aerobic eqt was turned around a few years ago to face the window. The shades on the windows arent adequate therefore allowing the bright sun to beam in. This makes several pieces of eqt. unable to be used. The sun is right in your eyes and its extremely hot.Not that the other aerobic eqt. is worth using. There is at least one thing broken on every single piece if not more. Ive tried and tried reporting it to the front desk but the young kids at the desk are good for smiling and saying they will report it but they dont. Ive watched them. The minute you walk away they go back to flirting with each other. And the noise, oh the noise! They seem to think that the cross fit music has to be so loud that it can be heard at an extreme level all over the entire gym.I could go on and on but Ive taken enough of your time.Im looking for another gym!

Love Cal Fit been a member since 2000. Never had an issue with staff or corporate office. No hassle place to work out. This one offers a lot of yoga and pilates classes, so has become one of my favorites.
