I did a 7 day trial. It was a successful week. Visited 5 of my 7 days. I'll try to be as concise but comprehensive as I can about my experience, because there's a lot to consider here, and I really tried to go for as much variety as possible to make sure I knew every inch of this place by the end..First I'll say, I don't believe in docking points over covid policy and how well it may or may not be practiced. I imagine nobody at this location really has much of a choice in the matter, and it would be unfair to chip away at the reputation of this long standing gym over temporary measures.I lost my hotel job in the city (covid) and deeeeply regret not checking this place out during that time, because I was 2 blocks away, and would have joined without hesitation. Unfortunately now I have to commute out of the city for my seasonal full-time job, so I sadly can't logically join for that reason, but absolutely will if my life were to turn fully urban again. With all that out of the way, simply as a facility to gain access to, this is undoubtely the most unique option in town. As a unique guy, I dig that a lot.The stacked format with 5 floors is very cool and offers a lot of natural light, especially for cardio, because there are two separate cardio floors with views overlooking the mke river, which I'm a total sucker for, and makes for a beautiful post-workout run (I just have a weakness for elevated gyms. The higher the better 🙃).The place was a bit labyrinthian to navigate at first, took me two days to find the whirlpool (more on that later).. but despite this, my first couple days of pretending to know where everything is, got me familiar enough to feel good about the layout, which overall could handle a decent number of people at a time doing resistance machines, without feeling overcrowded. Like if things did get too crazy on the lifting deck for example, then you can find alternative ways, using cable machines on the 2nd floor, to work similar muscles in peace. Only downside being some stuff is a bit dilapidated just from the age of the gym. Plus there's a whole separate set of lighter dumbells down there, which can come in handy during peak hours... Lots of options that simply don't exist at PF, which is my basis for comparison at this point, and has an overcrowding problem of its own. It's worth noting that I don't park here because I still live close by, so consult other reviews if that's important to you.The rest of the review is nothing against the location. They gotta do what corporate wants. I want this review to be seen as an objective one. If I went to another gold's that sucked, I wouldn't give that one 4 stars. With all that said, I do want to mention covid things that make no sense in my opinion. Since that's what a review is, so please just take it as such. The whirlpool.. I said I'd come back to it... Not gonna lie, I was very excited to find out there's a hot tub downtown accessible to me, because they're even hard to find at hotels around here (Pfister doesn't have one, fun fact, just hampton and nothing else from what my old boss and I searched, although idk about the new 2020 hotels)... Anyway, when I finally found the hot tub, it was next to the 3 lane pool, which at the moment only allows two people in the entire space as a whole. You are in water that is half composed of a cleaning chemical, how does that make sense?I was equally bummed to see the sauna shut down. But I at least understand that, since it's pretty small. But I loooove saunas and was too excited to even see the sign, and accidentally walked in to a cold room ☹️. oops. One last unique luxury I was actually considering experimenting with but couldn't, is the indoor basketball court. Another hard to come by commodity in town, mostly existing within rich apartment complexes from what I know of. Anyway, again, the ~15 foot wide hallway with functioning equipment is kosher, yet the much less confined space right on the other side of the glass door is apparently too dangerous.... 🤔 Idunno, I'm outta characters. The end.

I was a member of Gold's Gym for over 2 years. The staff are really nice but the cancelation and "account freeze" policy is poorly communicated. To freeze my account I had to email a 3rd party so I assumed when I wanted to cancel my membership, it would be the same.I called and was told due to Covid the process was different and I could cancel over the phone. I was also told we would get a reimbursement for 2 months (from Covid WHEN THEY CHARGED ALL MEMBERS THE MONTHLY FEE AND 6 MONTH CLEANING FEE? WHICH NEVER HAPPENED). After I froze my account I called to cancel a month prior to my auto pay. I called a week later to check and ensure I would not get charged. The receptionist said it was "submitted for cancelation?" and to give it a few weeks to process (behind from Covid). A month later I was charged.....I called back to explain the situation and asked why I got charged. They basically told me the information I received was false and they couldn't do anything? Pretty frustrating since I questioned it the first time and called back a second time. They asked if I can prove it and I said "yes, I can get my phone records" and the response was "That won't prove it. We need an email." Well if I was told correctly the two times I asked, I would have an email of proof. Unless you think you'll work out there for the rest of your life it's not worth this headache or writing a novel for a review.

I got the 7 day trial to see if this would be a good fit and was disappointed. The parking situation is pretty bad since you have to park in a structure around the block, but that wasn't the make or break for me. In the middle of Covid I was surprised to see many many people without masks. Not even over in a corner away from everyone, but in the middle of the cardio floor running on treadmills or right next to you on machines. I had to ask multiple people that hopped on benches within a few feet of me to please put their mask on. That should be the job of staff and with gyms being such a high-risk area anyway I'm not sure how this gym is even allowed to operate with such blatant disregard for basic prevention methods. If it were a different time I would give 3.5-4 stars because the gym itself isn't terrible. Nothing special but everything you need. But right now I was appalled with the lack of safety precaution I saw and I won't be going back.

First of all I'm spurred to write this review because Covid safety in Fall 2020 has been abysmal. For a while it was okay, but lately more people have been working out without masks then with masks. I don't understand how the gym could claim it's taking this seriously when the staff just sits on the 1st floor while literally all of the equipment is on higher floors. In severally months I've never seen a single staff member do so much as take a pass through the main lifting floor during peak hours. Sure people wear a mask when coming through the door, but there's no enforcement once they've left the view of the front desk. The gym itself is..... okay. The location is the best part. Right on the riverwalk and surrounded by amenities. The gym is 5 stories tall but also very narrow. Sometimes I'm amazed they fit so little equipment in this big place. There still only 2 squat racks and given how busy this place gets you're no more likely here to get on your machine during peak hours than at a smaller gym like, for example, the Anytime Fitness on Water St. Since it is so busy here the equipment is in a little worse shape too. Also it's not 24/7.I wouldn't recommend during the pandemic. Outside of that.... maybe. Not normally but there's not really better options downtown.

Overall a 5 level gym reasonably priced. Great selection compared to other gyms in area. 10.00 daily. 20.00 for the week.
