It's been two weeks since I started jiu jitsu all over again, and I have never slept better, I'm happier, my wife is happier. Clay is such a great educator if you're thinking about learning jiu jitsu don't hesitate!

This place is GREAT. I'll be 58 in a couple of months and I've wanted to try BJJ since I watched Royce Gracie (176 lbs) submit Dan Severn (265 lbs) at UFC 4. Well a few years, a wife or two, some extra pounds and too many beers to count later....here I am. The workouts will push you to, but not past your limit. You'll leave feeling exhausted yet exhilarated. Clay is an outstanding coach who clearly loves what he's does and is masterful in his craft. So for all you folks out there, men and women, especially those over 50, like me, stop it with the auld lang syne and glory days stories (we all know the older you get the faster you ran as a boy) and join me for a great workout at Vagabond.

I started at Vagabond around 9 months ago. I was overweight, and doing a lot of drinking. I was able to come in, and speak with Professor Clay about training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, due to my poor living habits. I wanted to be a better person mentally, and physically. In the 9 months I've been training, I've not only lost more than 50 pounds, but I've stopped drinking alcohol, and take better care of my body! BJJ has shown me a different path to help with the struggles of life, and the personal demons that would haunt me on occasion. The atmosphere here at Vagabond is extremely welcoming, and positive. Professor Clay is extremely patient, and flexible in his teachings. This is coming from a person who taught in the public school system for 12 years, coached varsity sports for 8, and was a public school administrator for 1. If your looking for a lifestyle change, I highly recommend Vagabond Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Professor Clay as that catalyst! OSS!!

I started the journey of jiu jitsu in January not knowing what to expect. I would constantly ask so many questions wanting to cram as much knowledge as possible in as short as time as possible, but I soon came to realize that that was the wrong way to go about it. I realized that the sport was not something for me to do for a year or so to stay fit, but it was something to train for life. It is unlike anything I have ever done and Professor Clay Hantz is unlike any teacher I have ever had. He was kind enough to let me into his place of practice and teach me what he has learned. He is patient and full of knowledge of the sport. Starting the sport to just lose some weight or get away from the stresses of life is a very good decision. After you establish yourself, you soon start to realize that you are not escaping your life, rather adding the greatest addition to it. Vagabond BJJ is by far the best, friendly, family welcome jiu jitsu practice in the area. I would never change my decision to start training here and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a change of pace. I will forever cherish this place and the knowledge I receive from Professor Hantz and the group of friends I have made here. All I can say is join and see for yourself

If you are even slightly interested in learning Brazilian Jui Jitsu, DO IT!Before I started going to Vagabond and learning BJJ, I was always stressed out about work. My boss would say things to me and I would just want to slam the guy, because of the built up stress that I had. The first week after I started at this academy and learning BJJ, I honestly felt better mentally and felt stressless. After every morning of BJJ, I feel amazing all day. It is a feeling everyone needs to experience, not just read about. The instructor along with the fellow students at this academy are very supportive, and helpful. I haven't met a toolbag there yet. On top of that, the comradery that this academy has is astonishing. Everyone encourages each other to try their hardest, or to finish the last reps of a technique that is being worked on. I personally highly recommend Vagabond BJJ for anyone, any age and any size! This place has helped me lose weight and has not let me down. Vagabond blew my expectations away of what I thought a martial arts gym would be like. Try it, Trust me.

Wow, where to begin! Clay is an incredible teacher! He knows how to push you when you need it as well as give you personal help when your struggling, all the while helping create a positive and supportive enviroment! The other students help provide more encouragement which make getting up for the 5:30 class more enjoyable! Its inspiring seeing people that are more advanced and beginners, seeing people of all ages, and people of all sizes! Personally, going to these classes have given me confidence, peace of mind, helped with stress, makes you feel like a superhero, while also humbling you out! Best decision I've made is joining the Vagabond Crew!!

Our experience at Vagabond has been amazing. Professor Clay has an incredible way of building the students self esteem, teaching them on their level and keeping them safe. We have the unique experience of having a student go from the kids class into the adult class and seeing that his patience and professionalism is maintained throughout. Consistency is one of his greatest lessons and he practices what he preaches. We are grateful for Professor Clay.
