24 Hour Fitness in downtown Portland offers a varied gym experience with numerous amenities including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and a variety of machines and weights. The gym is well connected to public transport, and street parking is available, though not free. It's known for friendly and helpful staff, although mixed reviews highlight some inconsistency in customer service and cleanliness.

While the gym offers a good range of equipment and is generally not overcrowded, many users have noted issues such as poor air conditioning, cleanliness, and maintenance of facilities. Additionally, despite its name, the gym is not open 24 hours, which can be frustrating for members who require late-night or very early morning access.

Charge you an additional $24.99 fee after signing up for a yesr long membership without telling you in advance. Don't have enough equipment that people want such as racks and free weight benches but a huge amount of machines that are rarely used. You have to go "check out" a pad for the squatting bar which is very annoying. Overall okay because not too crowded.

I just joined recently and I very much enjoy the clean space and nice machines. The only negative is it is so warm in here every time I have visited. I can only work out for about a half hour until I am dripping in sweat. As I looked around last visit on Saturday when the gym was pretty empty, it was still hot in there. Can we please cool down the gym so we can sweat from working out not from inadequate air conditioning. Are you able to turn the air conditioning up during the late afternoon - it is too hot to be in there around 5pm?*********

Actually zero stars. I set up a trial membership to check out the facilities for water exercise, as I am dealing with extreme hip pain currently and in need of a gym with a pool to use. Went in and the woman behind the counter clearly had no idea what was going on. She contacted the manager and told me to wait for her. 20 minutes later and in even worse pain after being asked to stand around waiting with no clear communication, I asked how long I was expected to wait and the woman at the desk tried to call the manager again, to no answer. At which point she told me I could just leave and the manager would call me back. Horrid customer service and needless to say I won't be getting a membership there.

I am a frequent visitor of this gym, generally several times a week, 6 in the past week, one night attendant never acknowledges me when I come in, and as for the other, generally a great employee, when I entered today was talking to a young woman, facing away from his desk, I entered my phone number and my fingerprint failed twice for whatever reason, I tried a third time and it was successful, “enjoy workout” so I proceeded to the locker room as the attendant was still involved in his conversation, when I returned from the locker room the attendant approached me and stated that he had not seen me sign in, I informed him that I had and he forced me to re-enter my information even though I had got a successful sign in, next time you’re involved in a conversation, maybe face the customers/the front door, and don’t accuse people of not signing in if you’re not even paying enough attention to notice who’s coming in the door.

Great gym. Has everything you need and staff are nice. Only downside is the 2inch long giant cockroaches that pop up in the studio a couple times a week. Could really do without those.

Giancarlo is cool. Great customer service

It’s an okay gym, but it’s not actually open 24 hours, and the memberships and guest passes are very exspensive

Not good customer service. Just got off the phone with team member "Rodney" and I told him thanks for his help and he just hung up. Is it part of 24 hour fitness protocol to be rude to paying customers?

When you downgrade your membership they automatically charge the annual fee because they think you won’t notice??? Then the manager is on vacation?! So essentially just stole my money then say “we’ll get to it eventually”? We’ll don’t go to 24 hour fitness anymore! Also there not open 24 hours anymore…

It's very rarely super busy, which is nice, but that's for a reason. It's not very clean, and the staff doesn't really seem to care about anything. The floors are pretty nasty, and the machines range from pretty great (if not a bit dirty) to pretty bad and outdated (cardio and some hamstring machines are particularly bad). I'm only here because it's close to where I'm living and relatively cheap, but I wouldn't rate it over planet fitness for anything except more variety. They need to hire more people and pay them enough to care.
