We had my daughter’s 9th birthday here and had a great time! Most of the kids hadn’t climbed before, and Teddy and Rene (our hosts) were super patient and created a positive and supportive environment for everyone. By the end of the party, even the kids who were hesitant at first were saying “best party ever!” PRG is a great place for a kids event. Highly recommend.

I went to the Portland Rock Gym the other day to get in a good climbing session. The walls were difficult enough to make it interesting. Dan welcomed me with a smileand was friendly. René helped me finish my project and gave me good advice. When we finished he helped me do some cooldown stretching. Will absolutely be returning!

Excellent gym. Family friendly and welcoming environment. A great place to develop skills and grow as a climber. Substantial variety of routes, grades, problems available. Dan has been very helpful when I joined, even going so far as to help with beta on a problem I have been stuck on

This crew has been delivering fantastic experiences on fake rock for decades. They know what they’re doing and they keep upping their game: providing excellent camps for your kid to go out and learn on real rock, plus some excellent top roping routes. They change up the routes often, and there new fitness annex is a total bonus! They’ve got a room full of weights and other gear that you can use solo, or you can join one of their fitness classes, which are expertly led by super knowledgeable instructors. The’ll work with you If you have injuries, so this is a great way to get in shape or do some PT. The yoga instructors are also first rate, passionate about what they do and very knowledgeable.

My partner and I tried the intro to climbing class with Brandon the instructor and had a great time. The instructor was incredibly patient and made the experience feel super beginner friendly. If you’re wanting to check out PRG or just learn the basics, this class is a great place to start.

PRG is a great gym - the environment is chill, it’s superb (not intimidating) for beginners and fun for experienced climbers alike. You have to supply your own belay device for top roping (except the autobelays). I’m a huge fan of the bouldering if I’m to be honest - the employees keep the routes up there just long enough for you to keep trying at it and not too long so there’s regularly something new!

Great place with great staff and instructors for all aspects of climbing. Brandon's lead climbing class is so incredibly valuable for technical, physical, and emotional elements that he brought to his multi-day lessons. Bravo.

Just did the intro to climbing class with Dan and has a great experience. My goal was to learn how to safely belay my son, who is the climber in the family.Dan found a harness that worked for my body and acted as a partner while teaching the class. I felt totally comfortable and learned everything I needed to know. I'm eager to get back in there with my son.

Portland Rock Gym, not sure where to start. I’ve only been climbing for just a little over month. Portland Rock Gym was the very first indoor rock gym I ever stepped foot in. When I walked through the door Brandon’s friendly face was there to greet me. He made being a newbie real comfortable. I got a day pass and the rest is history, immediately became a member. I was lucky enough to participate at their 35th anniversary event. They had raffles and great problems to solve.I signed up For the “climbing movement” class after talking with brandon during the anniversary event. The class was two hours long but did not feel that long at all. Brandon did a great job explaining into details a lot of the topics and explaining the movements we were to practice. There was people that had been climbing for along time and getting back into it, and there were people that had a few months under their belt that were complete rock stars! I think no matter what skill level you’ll find something in that class for you. They are opening a second location this year in Beaverton also! Looking forward to participating in future climbs. <3

Highly recommend the intro to climbing class, it was both informative and incredibly fun. Brandon is a fantastic instructor and had everyone pushing past what they thought they were capable of by the end of class, which was cool. The gym itself is outstanding as it's more than a rock gym AND the incredible community (I think) is the best aspect of being a member there.
