I’ve been climbing here for about eight months now and I’m a very satisfied member! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, particularly Dan, who was the instructor for my top rope belay class and lead class. He has great enthusiasm and is extremely knowledgeable and I would 100% recommend that class to anyone interested in learning how to lead or even just refresh their knowledge.

Today was my first day of rock climbing....Ever. My family and I were greeted by two very friendly and accommodating staff members at the front desk. Both were very welcoming and seemed genuinely excited to be there. Dan (I think that's it) coached us in the boulder room and was very encouraging. Best Mother's day all around! Some of us were nervous entering into an unfamiliar environment with unfamiliar culture and norms. The staff at Portland Rock Gym eliminated that worry almost immediately. Additionally, the members of the gym were all very positive and friendly. We will all be back soon.

I love this place! I’ve been to some of the other climbing gyms in the area and this is my favorite. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. It feels more like a climbing community than you would get at a more corporate chain. The culture and atmosphere are pleasant and the routes and facilities have everything that I want. As a member, I really like having 2 guest passes per month so that I can bring friends or my children.I just took Dan’s lead climbing class. It was safe, informative and fun. He explained things clearly, but went into depth as needed to explain how things work and the mechanics and background of the rules and best practices. I felt like I was getting the best instruction that Portland has to offer.

EDIT: I changed my rating to 5 stars.I've been climbing here for a few months now. I get in once or twice a week at the most. Dan, one of the managers greets me by name every time I see him, which is not often. The entire staff truly wants you to enjoy your experience there and they showit. This is a place you can go to enjoy climbing without all the hassles and drama other gyms in the area have.Original review:This is a pretty good rock gym. It's been around for a number of years so the painted walls are aged and don't have much friction, the good news is it won't tear up your shoes quickly. The staff at the gym is excellent, helpful and always have time for questions or to help with anything. The routes are well set and closer to outdoor ratings than any other gyms in the area. They rotate routes well, enough time to work a project but no so long you get tired of them.Overall a great place to climb.

Solid gym with lots of great features:- Real rock wall- Auto belay sections- Interesting, challenging and fun wall features/routes (slab wall, overhangs, dihedral corner)- Helpful staff members, and friendly people- Great class offeringsI highly recommend their movement class and lead class. Dan is a great lead instructor and if you can, take a private lesson from him! He has improved my climbing so much.

I love Portland Rock Gym! There are so many fabulous bouldering routes, staff remember your name, and the yoga classes are fun and challenging. I always feel stronger and more limber after going here. The only downside is that they've been increasing the prices of their memberships lately. But otherwise, PRG is the best!

From out of town staying for a week, just looking for a gym with auto belay to do some climbing without hassle. This gym fits the bill perfectly!! Friendly front desk staff, interesting climbing routes, with cracks, and stone wall. Rowing machine and elliptical upstairs are nice as well.

I’ve been a member here for a little over a year and I love the facilities, community and the staff! The yoga classes are great. Jacob and Charlie are my favorite instructors. They bring intentionality and openness to the practice and always greet each attendee individually. Recently I took the lead climbing course with Brandon and he was super great! He is really knowledgeable and also funny and personable. I feel like he answered all of my questions in depth and got me to a place where I was ready to pass my lead certification test with confidence. I’ve also gained skills necessary to lead climb outdoors safely. Thank you to all the staff at PRG! Love this place

Love it here! There's a good range of grades to keep it interesting for beginners to more advanced climbers. Staff are helpful and friendly, just a nice overall vibe. Definitely come check it out!

Super great community here, staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. Bouldering walls leave a bit to be desired for creativity (just muscle through it, no super fun problems to work on). Top rope and lead routes are always fun, sometimes the walls feel a bit short.
