I've been climbing periodically at Portland Rock Gym for several years. This year I decided to get more serious about climbing and have been going a couple of times a week. Last weekend I took the Lead Climbing/Belay class with their instructor Dan. Excellent class, and Dan is a great instructor! I really appreciated his technical competence and attention to detail. Dan was a lot of fun to work with and made each of us feel quite comfortable about moving forward at our own pace! Thank you Dan!

Took the intro to belay climbing class a couple weeks ago and had a great time. Brandon and Molly did a wonderful job instructing the class. Brandon challenged my belay skills when I was feeling confident and now I'm able to belay so comfortably, confidently and safely. A crisp high five to y'all! The gym changes their routes regularly and the staff is very welcoming.

I’ve been climbing at PRG on and off for a couple years now. It’s a place I truly love to be and can’t remember a single time that I wasn’t excited to get in for my session. The staff is fantastic and so friendly; the community is exceptional. I had finally gotten to a place of skill/strength/lack of injury and took the lead climbing class last weekend with Dan. It was amazing! He is so knowledgeable, fun, entertaining and passionate about what he does. He made me feel really safe and I completely trusted his teaching. I’m so excited to get certified and start leading with my buddies; it’s been a long time coming. Thanks, Dan!!

Second time here as a guest new to the sport, and another great time! I'm terrible with names but the lovely blond person working front desk last night was so informative and helpful, spent a lot of time teaching me about comfort and safety with regard to proper footware. Made me feel so welcome and excited to keep experimenting with bouldering. Also, air conditioned building and fun routes, lots of space so I never felt cramped by others. Well done!

I did the lead belay 2 day course with Dan and he honestly did an amazing job! I really enjoyed his energy and passion he brought to teach each day. He was very knowledgeable and able to relay that information well. The course itself is well worth the information. It provided me the comfort to pursue lead climbing on my own. I feel especially comfortable with falling as well. Thanks Portland Rock Gym for the experience and thank you Dan!

Decided to take a 6 week class to learn how to belay and Dan my instructor was amazing! He was great at giving simple but effective understandable instructions that got me belaying and climbing very quickly and leave me the confidence to climb. Please sign up for one of Dan’s classes. On top of that the gym was amazing as well! I was able to move from top rope climbing to bouldering was so easy. This is a great gym!

Best rock climbing gym in the city! I’ve climbed here for the last year and it has become a second home for me and my rock climbing partner and best friend, Rae. The staff are phenomenal and feel like friends. We love the yoga classes after a hard climb and boulder session, as well! PRG is the place to go!

The intro climbing class is super informative and fun. Addison is great. It's a pretty, safe, and welcoming gym. Very crowded on weekends and very crowded yoga classes. You need to sign up for yoga ahead of time online.

Portland Rock Gym is my favorite Portland rock gym! I agree with the other reviewer that if you primarily rope climb here then the prices have been going up without much benefit since the expansion. I like the vibe and staff here way better than at Planet Granite. I hired a guide from PRG years ago when I was first getting into multipitch and it was a great experience.
