The Portsmouth YMCA is one of the best YMCA’s in Hampton Roads. It is always clean and the staff are great! They have two indoor pools (an aqua therapy pool and a lap pool), a great closed-off free weight area, a decent cardio equipment section, an array of assisted machines, and basketball courts. They also have aquatic and fitness classes to accommodate everyone’s needs. And I must reiterate how clean the entire facility is. It is refreshing visiting the Portsmouth YMCA.

I had a great experience when I went there to register. The front desk staff were very professional and helped guide me through all of the information I needed to know. As well as they let my 4 year old go play so she didn’t have to stand there through the registration process. This gave my daughter a chance to socialize with other children and understand she is going to have a fun time at this new place. Everything was clean and I was very pleased with everything in all.

I came in on a guest pass to play basketball with my friends and was told the only way I could play was to purchase a membership or just shoot around. I wanted to get a feel for the gym before I purchased a membership for my family. Hopefully this rule will change soon for future guest looking to become members.
