Gold's Gym at Willow Lawn offers a 24/7 fitness experience with a wide array of equipment and classes. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and helpful staff, the gym caters to both beginners and fitness enthusiasts. This location is praised for its friendly trainers, like Paige Spencer and Jesse Fuller, and its variety of group classes.

However, the gym faces criticism for billing issues, cleanliness in locker rooms, and the challenging membership cancellation process. Members highlighted the need for better maintenance of facilities, including the lone water fountain. The overall atmosphere and equipment make it a popular choice, despite some drawbacks.

Visited the gym with a 1 day pass available through their official site. Upon arriving I was told they wouldn't honor the 1 day pass and had to either pay $10 or sign up for a membership.I was told this was due to COVID which I get they were impacted hard I imagine but it has been over a year for them to realign and not mislead their customers.Additionally, I was told I could sign up for membership and cancel without penalty within 3 days. No mention of the annual facility or upfront fee mentioned online.Obviously, these misleading interactions have really put me off of signing anything with them which is unfortunate they have a great facility.

I went into the gym and cancelled my membership 2 months ago. Received receipts and confirmation emails showing my cancellation form and final payments yet they are still charging me 2 months later! Now I have to take time out of my day to march back up there to prove my case which may or may not work. Unacceptable! Their Better Business Bureau rating is an F... Think about that before joining. Gold's Gym is like the Mafia. Once you join you can only leave through death I guess. Even then they would probably come after my family. Just check out all of the reviews about how difficult it is to cancel. This is one of the only businesses in the world where you can't easily quit online. This is done on purpose. It's their whole business model which is as shady and predatory as it sounds. This could be a 5 star review if they would ditch their antiquated membership practices and stop charging me after I jumped through all of their hoops to cancel per their instructions.

One star only because I can't choose 0. They have the worst policies to loot people of their money. I moved out of Richmond and called them many times to cancel my membership. They said I have to come in person before 6 pm. I went in person, but on a Saturday and requested them to cancel my membership. Apparently their policy won't let them to process cancellation on weekends and I have to mail them via usps ( email won't work) innorder to request cancellation. In this day and age, it is absurd to have such policies. They didn't have any problem with me signing up on a Saturday and they let people sign up online. I wish they come up with at least some better ways to rob people's money. Not going to a Gold's gym again until they change these ludicrous policies. Worst people who aren't customer friendly at all.Edit: The manager reached out to me and agreed to process my cancellation.

This gym is typically clean and the staff are friendly, although there can be a stinky bathroom every so often. There is a good variety of machines and free weights which can provide a decent workout during most higher capacity times. However, I would have given a five star rating if my monthly fee had not magically changed from $9.99 to $12.99 a month. (The $9.99 monthly rate is still available, but they might treat you as they have done with me.) Aside from the shady price increase after a few months into my membership, all is well and I have not been bamboozled further.I'd also recommend that you make sure to photograph the contract you sign, and I'd recommend that you do not offer a signature on the digital keypad entry at the front desk. They have the capacity to use a standard, ink-written signature in a paper contract, and you might want to pursue that choice. Once again, photograph the paper contract that you sign. Ask to not use the digital equipment up front. It is still a viable gym option in Richmond aside from negative comments and low ratings online. It is also possible to choose to block direct debit charges as Gold's Gym does not require a routing number with your bank- which Crunch Fitness requires. I'd first explain this to the bank and eventually have them cancel Gold's opportunity to charge further right after getting the monthly fee. It is in Gold's Gym's contracts to charge for the rest of the month upon cancellation, so be prepared to uphold your end of that stipulation with your gym membership agreement.

Please clean the showers.I wish they would clean the men’s showers. They never get cleaned. The same stains have been in the same spots for at least 4 weeks now. The flies or whatever little bugs have taken over the showers during the pandemic are disgusting. You can not shower here without our bugs flying in your face or landing on you. They don’t clean the showers, it’s depressing. Maybe pay the $10 a month for Planet fitness just to use the showers.

If I could give this gym zero stars, I would. They will not let you cancel your membership and if you stop paying they said eventually they will send you to collections. I went in THREE separate times (before moving out of state) to cancel my membership. The first time was on a Saturday and they only let you cancel on “business hours” (9-5 not the gyms hours). So if you work regular hours- make sure you can take a sick day to be able to cancel your membership. The second time I went in during these said hours, there was “no one there at the time” who could cancel my membership, so I’d have to come back later. Finally, the last time I went in they told me I’d have to get a certified letter and mail it to them to cancel my membership. So I have to get my own notary to cancel my membership because I no longer live in the state. So of course, I stopped their payments on my card and the next month got a call that if I don’t continue paying for a membership I tried to cancel three separate times, they said I would get sent to collections. Essentially, they will steal your money and make you take time off work and go through leaps and bounds to cancel your membership. Stay away from this scam job!!

not a bad gym but they make it impossible to cancel your membership. Back in late February when I tried to cancel my membership, the staff told me only managers can process cancellations and they only do so between 10am-7pm Mon-Fri. I have been back three times within that time range but the manager is always "unavailable" for some reason. I then requested the email of the manager and was given a business card. I emailed, no response. A week later I emailed again, no response. After getting no response I call and ask for Courtney (the manager whose name is printed on the business card) only to be told that person stopped working there about a month ago and of course the current manager is "unavailable". So apparently they like to hand out business cards of past employees. I have yet to have someone actually help me with my cancellation so think twice before joining this gym.

We joined this gym while staying short term in Richmond on a job. We got a month to month deal and the man who signed us up was as charming and helpful as you can be. Told us we could cancel anytime we needed to once we had a firm exit date from Richmond. Two months later, we knew we would be terminating our membership and returning to California. Tried to cancel the membership at the front desk in person and was told by the front desk attendant r the person in charge of that was not avail and to come back and was super unhelpful to the point of being rude. The manager on duty stepped in and told us he took it. Cut to two months later our credit card was still being charged when we were back in California. Called the branch and was treated as rude as you can possibly imagine. Courtney the business manager took NO time to understand or listen to the circumstances and blamed us for not cancelling properly despite the fact her employee handled the transaction. Do not join here unless you like unprofessional people who sign you up in a hurry and then become u helpful and rude to you when you try to cancel! Who needs that kind of treatment??? Not one apology or refund for the mistake either. Spend your money on somewhere that takes care of their clients!

Joined this gym over the one closer to my home because of the Cardio Cinema. Then I go for the first time and guess what's out of order!Update: it was a mess trying to get out of my contract. Despite the fact that it expired. They tried to charge me extra after assuring me that i could cancel with no problem. I DEFINITELY will not deal with Gold's gym again. My first separation with them was painless. This time the employees lied (at my expense) to keep my business and I did not like that. I deducted one from my initial two star review.

Working with my trainer at willow lawn has been a great experience and the space there is solid. However the personal trainer manager, Kris, has refused to respond to me for 3 weeks after spending over a month trying to contact him the first time to resolve a contract issue where I was charged and needed a refund. I've called, emailed, and swung by to no avail and have never been treated so unprofessionally by management. I'll be going somewhere else in the future and recommend the same to others.
