Shorei Ryu Karate Studios

My daughter has gone from a scared child with no confidence to a warrior realizing her worth as a person and feeling good about the hard work she puts in to being herself. She had become a strong young woman with self- driven goals and aspirations. I love this dojo and the positivity they have brought to my daughter and to our family.

This is my new home away from home. Sensei is amazing with the kids. He has created a welcoming environment. This has been very good for my whole family. Very happy that shorei ryu is in my neighborhood now. I highly recommend trying it out.

I had been looking for some type of martial arts for my sons for awhile. Either they were too expensive or didn't have have enough options or just didn't give me a good feeling. I saw a new sign for a karate dojo near the boys and girls club and emailed them. They told me they had a family rate if I wanted to come as well, so my boys, daughter, and I joined. Not only have a found a wonderful dojo, but also a new family. The owner is a former Marine and he and his wife are amazing. He is a wonderful teacher, firm but fun. We could not be happier. My kids have done some martial arts before but I truly believe they are learning so much more and are so much more prepared here at Shorei Rye. If I could give it 6 stars I would!!!

Such an absolutely wonderful facility! We are thrilled to have our son a part of this karate family! We’ve been looking for something extra curricular for our 4-year-old son. We were thrilled to find Shorei Ryu which is only 15 minutes from our home. We’ve always talked about getting our kids into karate but we were disappointed to learn that many dojos do not take children until they are 6/7 years old. Shorei Ryu not only accepts younger children, but they actually take the time to teach the karate fundamentals to the littler ones. My son is already memorizing terms, learning how to respect the dojo and sensei, as well as learning proper punching, standing, and kicking techniques. He is also being taught discipline and how to carry himself while in the dojo - and he is having an absolute BLAST doing so!! His confidence has already shot up after 2 classes, he is always eagerly awaiting his next karate class, and he is taking pride in earning stripes and belts.I feel I should also add that while my son is learning the karate essentials, he is also having FUN while doing so. Sensei is phenomenal with children and he has the perfect balance of discipline, fun, and teaching down to an art. The dojo isn’t part of a chain which already says a lot. Everyone knows each other and there is a very friendly and cozy vibe to the place. I could go on, but let me just conclude with this - if you are looking to learn karate, look no further because Shorei Ryu will meet your or your child’s needs. Be prepared for learning, discipline, and fun! Being a part of Sheri Ryu is like being part of a wonderful karate family! It doesn’t get much better than this!

We highly recommend Shorei Ryu Karate Studios!!!! I honestly feel so lucky to have found this place. My daughter was in love her very first class. Their teaching approach is amazing! I can’t wait to watch our kiddos grow and learn at Shorei Ryu Karate! Thanks for having us!

Love this dojo! Sensei is amazing with my son and all the students. My son has gained confidence and truly looks forward to his classes! So glad we chose Shorei Ryu above the other karate studios in Rio Rancho.

A friend of mine invited my 12 year old niece who is visiting from out of town to go to a karate lesson. She enthusiastically said she would love to go. They welcomed her into the class like an old friend! We also stayed over to watch one of the older groups in their lesson. The dojo was clean and tidy, and the kids were very respectful and they had a lot of fun. We got invited to return for the next class, which is exactly what we will do!! I also talked to the sensei/aka teacher, and he said since my niece is visiting, he would try to find a place for her to continue her karate classes from her home town of Tucumcari! I was veey pressed with the kindness and professionalism of the staff here!

Can't wait until this place opens in September... Traditional karate is what Rio Rancho needs...

Great place to learn karate

The sensei is very knowledgeable and patient and teaches real traditional karate along with all the other attributes that come with it such as discipline, self confidence and a sense of belonging as well as accomplishment. I recommend this school for all ages and experiences.
