It's a dump. Always crowded, weights are never racked. Dirty, smelly. The locker room looks like a prison, the pool is often dirty. This one is close to where I live yet I drive further to get a better experience and avoid this place.

The gym is dirty, smells awful at peak hours, equipment is often broken, and patrons vandalize the neglected bathroom, but it's worth $26.99. 'Free' parking, variety of equipment and classes, great hours, friendly staff, and decently priced personal training.

It's a bit small compared to the one in the FIDI, but that means it's less busy. A big plus is they have a parking garage which I always find parking in but I tend to go at night. The machines are always mostly working some are broken.I tend to keep to myself and get in and do my workout and get out.The staff while friendly doesn't talk much or try and initiate conversation with me.I come here for the convenience and is overall a decent place.

I was a 24 hour member and whilst being a member there, I was happy with the services they provide. I love their Yoga and Zumba classes. The personal trainers are nice and extremely motivated and enthusiastic. I will be a member again once the summer begins.

I'm been a member of 24 hour fitness for 8 years. Ocean avenue is my gym. I go to the gym at around 9:30 a.m. I have no negative issues with the gym. I usually have the swimming pool for myself. And I don't have to wait around to lift weights.

This is my main gym in San Francisco. It's got parking (even though you have to fight for it!) I will say, the quality of the facilities have only been improving. The ONLY thing they need to take care of are the Locker Rooms and Pool/Sauna area. Those are this place's pitfall. It's gross. It would be a "Super Sport" Caliber gym if those two things were actually upgraded and taken care of. The equipment is mostly new, they have a TRX area and most of the cardio machines are well-kept. The Bball Court is a halfsie, but still seems to be popular. 24 Ocean Ave., you're almost there...

Okay, So I have been a member here for over a year and I went to work out today and some lady I never saw before tells me that I don't have an account here and I can't work out even though I've been paying them every month. That's the 6th time in a row that I've had to talk to them in person about my account when I would rather have been working out. Their staff is very ignorant, egotistical, unorganized and overrated and the only reason why I'm telling you not to go is because they don't give a dam about their members at all and completely denied my passage because of their screw-up. Parking here is the worst and I can never use the bench press because there is too many people and they are too cheap to buy new machines and weights. I have been an active kickboxer my whole life and they refuse to set up the punching bag even though they have one hiding somewhere not to mention a pool and basketball court. It's big with options and all but if you can't get the basics right like having decent management and compromise work out equipment for a trillion cardio machines; then it's not a very good environment to get in shape. I just feel bad and I don't want other people to have to waste their money and deal the same garbage I dealt with. I have been a member of at least 8 different gyms in different states and I honestly feel that 24 hour fitness on Ocean avenue has got to be the absolute worst gym I have ever dealt with. Not to mention it probably wouldn't pass inspection for sanitation, (just step into the locker room) not that the city cares or anything, but all the other posts seem to agree with me on that one.

If you don't want to wait or fight over weights then go late at night like around 10 or 11. A lot less people there around that time. Don't go too late though because the parking lot get washed with water and the ceiling of the gym starts to leak. No joke. Don't bench late at night because that area gets drenched in water every other day. Just like any other 24, it gets crowded, pool is terrible, basketball gym is too small and is never empty. Parking is also a pain. Employees are friendly and they answer if you have questions.

Would rate this gym about average. I have definitely been to nicer, cleaner gyms before, but I guess this is okay considering the lot sizes available in SF. Bathrooms definitely need work in that the showers barely spurt out any water & the tiling is pretty gross. Upon entering the locker room there's a musty stench that I wish wasn't present. Pool only has 2 lanes which is usually congested by people who can barely keep their head above the water when there are lap swimmers trying to swim laps but are having to dodge the "obstacles". Usually have to wait 10 minutes or so before being able to use one of the ellyptical machines.

24 Hour Fitness, why do I hate thee?- You intersperse your "radio" with "Attention KMart Shopper" type announcements.- Your entire pool area smells like someone dumped 47182 gallons of chlorine. Up my nose.- The gym is kinda dark and smelly overall.- Your classes tend to be unchallenging and same-size-fits-all.- Your hot tub has more soap bubbles than my bubblebath at home.- Your parking lot should be called a honking-bumper-car lot.- Your sales people make used car salesmen look saintly by comparison. And if I see another "LAST [x] DAYS SALE!" sign another time (as in, like every month), I'm gonna rip it off and shove it somewhere where the chlorine don't shine.Okay, okay, so there are some okay machines, the checkin person is always friendly, and it seems there there are least a decent handful of weights. But otherwise, this gym is a crowded, joyless, annoying place.
