I've been a member of this gym for close to two years. During this time key equipment continued to be broken (ellipticals, for example) with signs suggesting repairs are coming (but over a year later, they did not and the elliticals at best feel like grinding coffee.)The staff at the gym are highly disinterested in helping you out, having noted the issue many times, I received the same non-committal answer. Finally they raised the price monthly by 10$ without providing me any notice. My credit card alerted me. When coming to cancel their manager reiterated that contractually BSC can raise the price whenever they want to and wouldn't even wave the cancelation fee.

I called to cancel my membership when I needed to move to a different city. they told me I had to go in person to do so, which proved to be inconvenient but I did. Because of the timing they told me I had to pay for the following month which I understood from their policies. The person at the desk told me my membership was cancelled and never sent me a receipt after asking for one. The person at the desk assured me my membership was cancelled and that I wouldn't have any issue in the future. I even went in person a second time to make sure it was cancelled since I hadn't received a receipt and wanted to get a second representative to tell me it had been cancelled. come to find out it was never cancelled and they had continued to charge me for months! Trying to speak to their general manager Paul proved useless, he did not take ownership for any of his employees actions and even said I was still responsible for a cancellation fee and the following month.

Now that Somerville has finally been allowed to open their fitness centers I can go back to the gym! Pumped to be back in action. The management team over there have been awesome returning emails over the past months and dealing with auto-pay/refund issues. This place used to be a pit and the team over there [specifically Paul P. and Kendall] have come leaps and bounds to get the place fixed up. New machines are coming in all the time, right before COVID shutdowns they'd replaced the turf on the third floor and it's always so nice and clean when I walk in. Even during peak hours both pre and post shutdown. So happy to be back!

I absolutely LOVE working out here! It is a hop, skip and a jump to the red line and the staff is so friendly. After a month in, I did a complimentary session with the FM Megan and decided to buy training! She was so personable and helped pair me with my current trainer! The price is a great value for the service and equipment! I hear more upgrades are coming soon!

I am updating my review... the hassle to get your membership cancelled or changed is not totally worth it. Twice i had asked them to freeze my accounts and both times i was charged full for the month. Had to go constantly talk to them to get the fees changed to the freeze fees. Finally cancelled the membership and now i keep getting these emails from them where they would waive my yearly fees to get me back to join. Alas thats not happening. Please beware of this gym. When you want to join they will promise you the stars but they dont deliver on it.

The gym itself it not too bad- a good number of aerobic machines, clean equipment. I wouldn't call the locker rooms nice/clean, however. Additionally, the cancellation policy is astounding- take a look before you sign your contract.

Aurora at the desk is great as are most of the other staff! However, I would not recommend signing up here. I had to cancel because we were moving to another city for a new job. They told me I had to come in person, fine. So, I did after work (which seems like a normal time for a gym to be busy). Poor Auroa was all by herself. She was courteous and very nice, as she was overwhelmed by people trying to check in and trying to help me. A manager on her way out explained that they would charged me a $10.00 cancelation fee and charge me for another month and a half, even though I signed up for a month to month. Which is not a lot of money, but is just ridiculous on principle. It was also not in my original membership agreement. The manager had no time to explain it more, because she wasn’t even supposed to be working (not her fault). Advice to owners/upper management, use the extra month and a half you’re billing people for to pay to adequately staff your business during peak hours. Advice in general, don’t sign up for this gym and if you do expect to be paying far longer and more than your agreement states.Update: The "help" that was offered here yielded nothing and I've just discovered they are still charging me for a locker. Every time I call "no one" can help, and they'll "get back to me". Sigh...

Do not go here. Small gym, with broken down or beat up equipment. Scam billing practices. Trust what other people on here have said. They raised my monthly rate by a greater than agreed upon amount at my one year anniversary. They did not provide me with any notice as required by contract. I did not realize the fee increase until the following month's credit card statement, so I was still charged the $70 annual membership fee at my one year anniversary. I cancelled my membership immediately upon realizing that they broke my contract by raising the monthly fee by greater than what was agreed upon without providing me with notice. They were completely unresponsive when I tried to contact them multiple times to address this. I finally spoke with someone named Kendall who was completely dismissive on the phone.Brutal experience across the board.

Don’t go there! I subscribed by the end of December 2019. I was eager to try a gym club here with the New Years resolution... when I subscribed I went in contact with Megan and we tried to schedule an appointment for my first complimentary session but they never had someone available. I asked several times, it lasted a month, then I lost the envy to go there regarding how difficult it was to schedule my first session so I asked to cancel my membership to the same Megan and she said I had to come to the gym which was not convenient for me. I finally found the time when she told me to come before 5pm because her manager Paul was living after that. So I met Paul who wasn’t understanding at all and didn’t care. I’ve been subscribed since the end of December, they charged for January and February even though I said several times that I wanted to cancel my subscription and now I’m just learning that I have to pay fees for the cancellation and that my subscription will be running for 45 days still and that I will pay next month...It’s a joke!!! Never saw that !! I’ve never been there! It’s not how you treat your clients

Let me preface by saying I never leave reviews of places and am generally easy going and understanding that mistakes happen. Unfortunately have to echo many of the bad reviews on here regarding customer service. I’ve been going there for approximately three years now and had no complaints. It’s always clean and the trainers are all friendly. However I was hit by a car back in early July and called to freeze my account as I needed surgery with an estimated six month recovery time. I was told it’s typically a monthly charge to freeze the account, but because it’s an injury, the fee would be waived. A month later I got a $15 charge, so I call and they tell me it’s a one time charge for freezing the account. Now a month later, I got charged another $15. I went by and the explained the situation to the general manager who was unsympathetic and took no accountability for the staff’s mistake. He asked if I had any emails as evidence, however it was all (unfortunately) communicated over the phone. Had I been accurately informed from the start, I would have canceled as soon as the injury occurred instead of paying $15/month for six months. You will likely be satisfied with the gym until it’s time to leave for whatever reason it may be, at which point they’ll show their true colors. Highly advise against this gym that values profitability over honesty and fairness.Update: I reached out after receiving the below comment and was offered a free fitness consultation. Thanks, but I want the $30 I was scammed out of back and for BSC to adjust their policy so they're not exploiting their members when they get HIT BY A CAR.
