These past 12 weeks I have learned to enjoy the hard work and have learned a lot as an athlete and as a coach. I didn’t track my food or really care about anything other than roughly getting in enough protein and making sure I am fueled overall (aka hamburgers were my best friend, and if you remember when I didn’t red meat that’s also a win). I honestly don’t know what I was expecting to lift/feel/see at the end of this program so let’s break down what happened. I basically gained in every way possible, good and bad:- Strength: This is #1 for me. Every lift increased not only from my previous max, but I hit 3RM at weights higher than my previous 1RM for the big 3- Muscle Mass: I gained a little bit of muscle mass, makes sense that it wasn’t a ton as I wasn’t necessarily training for hypertrophy (which might change soon) but strength training will still increase muscle mass to some degree- Body Image: this isn’t the best thing to quantify, but my body image has absolutely improved along with my confidence. I would have thought that I lost body fat just based on how I feel/what I see in the mirror. This is more important to me than the reality of my body fat measurement- Fat: I did actually gain a little bit of fat which is fine considering all the other positive gains. I know this comes down to nutrition and honestly my goal was to be adequately fed and I wouldn’t be Marlee if I didn’t eat like a linebacker. Good information to know but honestly don’t plan on doing anything about it immediately.- Weight: obviously if I’m gaining muscle and fat my overall weight is going to increase. I’m here to tell you weight isn’t everything!!! Like I said I feel and look leaner than maybe my numbers tell me. Don’t let a computer tell you how to feel. (Inbody says I’m obese)Overall this has been an amazing experience and I can’t say enough things about Derek and his team at Volition. I’m so glad I went in person for benchmark after being just an online client. My numbers are here if you want to look at them but don’t compare yours to mine. It’s not about that. Surround yourself with people who want to help you succeed and you will get where you want to be. 🏎️🚀💨✨

SOPH!!!! Soph. For real though, Soph is so dedicated to their craft and it always shows no matter the setting. They care about your goals and creating the right environment for you to achieve them! I can’t say enough good things about them, you can just tell they care about your “why” for wanting to be in the gym and supporting you. Volition is an amazing gym with an AMAZING staff!

Train with Sophia!! Philosophy and environment are the two most important things to me when looking for a group training program. I need to understand and trust the program I am following and I want to be in an uplifting and team environment. The coaches at Volition develop a program with intentionality. You train with purpose. While I was training, the group sizes were small enough that I always received individual coaching. Volition draws in people with a mindset where a team atmosphere is created. I feel so supported in this community. I absolutely trust and recommend training with Sophia or anyone at Volition. Sophia offered me the support and encouragement I needed to get back into the gym and train in a balanced, functional manner.

Volition is my favorite gym I’ve ever been to! I’ve been working with Soph in group training sessions for the past few months and have seen incredible results. I feel stronger, healthier, and I surprise myself all the time with how capable I am. I wasn’t a big gym person before this but I find myself genuinely enjoying my workouts now. Soph’s program & group training setting takes out any of the guess work of going to the gym by myself. Soph is incredibly knowledgeable and their workouts are well-rounded & balanced.The community here is so supportive and fun, while also pushing you to get out of your comfort zone. Something I particularly appreciate is that there are tons of strong, bad*** women at the gym.

I joined VŌLITION over a year ago and it has been the best decision I’ve made to start taking my health serious. It’s not only improved my physical health but mental as well! Derek has improved my strength and mobility above and beyond expectations! The programs are achievable, along with an amazing community inside the gym!

The fact that I only need to show up 3-4 days a week and get training that compliments my active lifestyle is incredible. The small group training is a perfect blend of supportive and competitive. The trainers take time to make sure you’re doing everything correctly or adjusting for your ability, while still keeping a great pace so everyone gets a great session.They actually use the whole hour not just 45-50 minutes. I feel like I get a well rounded session every day I’m in there. I at basketball recreationally and I feel more capable on the court because of my workouts. Plus they change it up every 12 weeks to make sure you’re training multiple aspects of physical fitness.It feels good to have a place to come train hard and feel ready for anything. This is definitely the best gym and community in Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale and Chandler combined!

Derek and the gals; Soph, April and Kayla made me want to return before I even left with how warm, welcoming and helpful they were.I love the layout of the gym, it's got more than you could ever need regardless of your goals.

I hate working out. I absolutely can’t stand working out. My degree is literally in Tuba. That is how much I hate working out.HOWEVER, working out at this gym has changed my life and my outlook on working out. I can’t miss leg day now because the community of encouragement found here makes working out a fun experience. I feel like my best self for the first time in a long time, and it’s because I found volition.

This gym is THE best!!! I have been with Kayla for a little over a year and a half and it has been an amazing experience!! Not only is Kayla amazing, but so are the rest of the trainers in the gym. Everyone is so kind and actually cares about each others well beings. This gym is something special with all the community it has given me and I’m so thankful!!

Six months ago I could barely walk from my front door to my car. Now I'm jumping for joy and lifting weights and riding bikes all because of an awesome place called VOLITION and all under the guidance of the best personal trainer in Arizona, Kayla Hushka! I love that Kayla challenges me every single session while also helping me with my dietary needs. She's truly dedicated to helping me reach my long-term goals. Her energy is also contagious. An hour with Kayla feels like 5 minutes. It's such a pleasure working with her. I am truly fortunate to have met her and to have found VOLITION. Both have literally saved my life.
