Phenomenal facilities with an even better array of staff that make every visit a pleasure. While I am biased in favoring the floor instructors that never fail to provide me a top notch workout, it is no secret that the caliber of people that are hired here have the members' best interests in mind. From the J-Bar staff that never fail to make the perfect smoothie, to the housekeepers keeping the workout areas immaculate, I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful community oriented gym so close to UF!

I had to move out of state shortly after joining. It seems to be a beautiful gym with state of the art equipment and top notch customer service. Deborah in particular was a pleasure, and she even managed to waive the $119 I would have paid to cancel the contract due to the circumstances. The owner is respectful of everyone, and I admire that. As a young guy, I'm used to being blown off. He shook my hand, introduced himself, and showed me the behind the scenes remodeling of the pool, as well as answering other questions I had.All in all, I'd highly recommend this gym.

Hands down the best gym in Gainesville. It’s expensive but you get what you pay for. If you decide to go there you must ask for Karen Coley-Cannon. She really takes care of new mebers especially military service members. I go there every time I’m home visiting. They offer a steam room, sauna, hot tub, swimming pool, cold pool, basketball court, too many machines, free weights, dumb bells etc. The facility is always clean and the staff is always friendly. They have personal trainers and staff that show you how to use the equipment if needed. It can be really busy between 4-9 so I recommend early morning or late night. I wish we had a gym like this where I currently live. I highly recommend it to people of all ages.

Beautiful facility and layout but the memberships are extremely expensive. I'm a student so during the summer I need a gym and Gainesville health and fitness would be my gym but they offer NO DISCOUNTS for students. Makes no sense when the slow season for students is the summer so why not offer a deal for the summer months because we can't use our campus gym? Perfect marketing in my eyes. Other than that, love the facility. Basketball court could use some remodeling...

Don't believe the negative reviews. Go and take a free trial day. I was hesitant because of the bad reviews so I went there to find out for myself. I intended to stay about 30 minutes, 4 hours later after touring the entire place which is first class, working out, swimming and relaxing in the hot tub and steam room I was ready to become a member. The staff and other members are friendly. Noone judges or stares at you and you'll feel very welcomed. I've seen EVERY type of person there: old, young, slim, fat, male, female. It really is a place for everyone to better themselves. I suggest you go and use the free trial and make your own decision.

I have been a member since 2000. My payment has not changed since then. They have updated and changed so many times over the years. I remember the wireless headphones that you could get to listen to while biking or on treadmill. Over these years there have been times where I wanted to take a break from the payments. (not too often) They have always accommodated that. I would then start back at the gym and resume payments without penalty. I have paid the same amount for over 17 years. I am not on a month to month and could cancel anytime without penalty, but love this gym. I wish I would get my butt there more often. I have read many comments and disagree with a lot of the negative comments. 1. I can always find a parking place. It is funny because the parking lot looks full but there is room on the inside. 2. All of the staff have been happy and say good morning and are very helpful 3. The equipment is always in good standing order. The only thing that I would say is 1. get some eucalyptus for the steam room. I went to a gym in south Florida that did that and it was wonderful. 2. The pool does need a good cleaning the last time I was in it. There was some funk floating through it. I found it unusual, but it is true. Other than that I plan to always have my membership.

Great gym! Clean, friendly staff, free child care, good variety of classes offered (most are included in your membership, great spin classes!), reasonable prices, including discounts for Shands employees and payroll deduction, 3 locations in Gainesville.. Highly recommend!

It is a very nice gym with top dollar equipment. However, it's also very pricey and they will nickel and dime you whenever possible. I just don't appreciate businesses that operate that way. I was a customer for over 4 years and finally my key card wore out and broke off. They wanted to charge me 50$ for a new one. Really? After 4 years of service not only am I not entitled to a new piece of plastic but it's 50$? I was tired of having only 1 guest pass per year anyways. Now at my new gym which is half the price I also get 6 guest passes per month. Good riddance GHFC.

Let me start by writing they will take you for all your money and with a smile. When my wife and myself signed up here it seemed like it was the right decision. The facilities were very updated, the staff seemed knowledgeable it was the perfect start to getting into shape.Lets just say we we wrong about everything except the facilities. When we started working out for the first few months we were consistently under attack by the workers. My wife would feel uncomfortable working with any of the male instructors at the main facility. My own experience was poor as whenever I asked for nutritional tips or work out methods, not only did they all have contradicting opinions to one another, but I began to notice most of them seemed that they had no idea what they were talking about.Upon deciding to bite the termination fees and leave the gym we happened into another trap they had set at the beginning of our membership. We not only had to pay for the termination fees, but two additional months of their rate. This totaled to 462 dollars worth of lost money for shotty services and unclear contracts. In an attempt to dispute even one month's worth of "services" I was met with the response of "The person who signed you up was new and didn't know what he was talking about".People who are interested in starting at a gym, I highly advise any other locations.

I am a new gym member here and have worked at or been a member at different gyms all of my life, literally. I love the 24 horu aspect and the way their staff greets people. I think the introduction to the gym and the way they try to create a welcoming atmosphere is great. My reference gyms are in Oregon and Washington DC though, so huge differences. I see in the reviews that many people say the gym is packed, but I always go after work, peak times, and I have never had to wait for a machine, there are always at least a couple open for each type. I also like how there are tv screens for the cardio machines upstairs that you can control the channels. The pool, hot tub, cold water pool, and sauna are also open 24/7 which is great after work outs. I would say very happy with it and my membership and the dues don't seem high at all to me, but again, my reference gyms were pretty expensive where I came from, thus my perspective may be skewed.
