If I could leave a zero star rating, I would. Never have I had such a bad experience with customer service as I have at Lifetime Fitness. I belonged to Lifestyle in Indianapolis several years ago before it was bought out by Lifetime. I joined Lifetime with the previous rate I had at Lifestyle, which was a very good deal - the gym itself, with the equipment and pool it has, is wonderful. However, my credit card was suddenly charged with a higher amount than before with no explanation as to why the rates suddenly changed. When I called to talk about it they transferred me to a different Lifetime location, and the poor girl on the other end of the phone had no idea who I was nor how to fix my problem. I finally went into cancel my membership and they suddenly cared about me as a customer when they realized they would be losing commission. It took a very very long time to cancel my membership and they were not cooperatives about it in any way. Save yourself the trouble by not joining this gym at all in the first place.

I have been a member there for eight years and the quality of the Gym is really going down. It used to be a five stars gym. Now it has very dirty bathrooms and showers. It smells like urine. The towels are worn out and don't smell good. The staff seems to be less caring than before. I talked to the management about these issues and it is still a problem. Another thing they use the same kind of towels to clean the bathrooms like the towels we use to wipe out face. I am really considering leaving this gym.

Great club. It is clean and the employees do a great job of maintaining the equipment. It is step up from other clubs we have joined and the child care is awesome. The kids love the rock climbing, computers and the basketball court. We love the spin classes at this location and fishers. Highly recommend.

Terrible membership. I was plan to open membership one month because of possible moving. But after one month when I want to cancel it. It still charges dues on my card. They claimed that cancellation must be one month ahead which I was not awarded of when I join. Totally fraud action. Their manager and customer service are irresponsible. Don't choose lifetime ever.

These are the facts as of today:-One person membership $66 per month + $40 or $140 one time fee (these are all non-negotiable)-This gym has the most amenities out of all Indianapolis area gyms. Everything is well maintained and clean-Spinning class is one hour strictly, if you wanted to ride more, they will boot you out because most times there is another class in the room (Yoga, Zumba etc...)-The guest pass says 7 days when you fill it out online. The member services rep they assigned me told I can use this for 7 days, but before the week ended they took my pass saying there is a date on the pass and it expired... After calling and asking if I could use my last day, they could not do anything :(

If only I could give 0 stars...Do not join this gym. This gym is great if you like overpriced and crowded gyms. I can usually live with that. Unfortunately, when it is time to cancel you have to pay an extra month and around $30 a person in cancellation fees. Fine. Since I cancelled, I have been charged over $350 in membership fees! I mailed in my cancellation, I called in to confirm it was cancelled. Cancellation confirmed. I get billed the next month. I call in and dont receive a response back for weeks. I am advised to resend a cancellation letter and that money will be refunded. They receive the letter, no money refunded and I am billed for another month. This is the worst gym I have ever been to.. and I have been a member at a lot of gyms! The people who work at this gym do not care about anyone. They act like they are doing YOU a huge favor for anything they do. They are rude liars and thieves. Literally!Bottom line: This gym should be out of business. Not only are they the worst gym I have been to, they are in my opinion the most corrupt, unethical, lying company I have ever dealt with! I strongly believe their goal is to take every penny away from every member! They even admitted to me that mishaps with cancellations happen A LOT!! I WONDER HOW MUCH MONEY THEY HAVE TAKEN FROM PEOPLE!!Join this gym if: you like being around grouchy frowning people all day, like crowded overpriced gyms, and enjoy being lied to and monetarily raped

Love the actual gym and the location but the customer service is horrible! If you are not signing up for a new account don't expect this gym to help you with anything else. I have had a car that needed jump started one time and NO ONE would help me including management even though it was 10 degrees out. Don't be fooled by the guest passes either, there are so many rules when using one that it is not worth the time. I had a friend that was denied on using it and was just sent home because I wasn't there. Overall it is just not a warm customer service experience when I go in here. Just some more smiles and helping customers on a more human level would be sufficient. The rules and procedures are too rigid.I must say that the cafe (little restaurant) staff is very friendly (Kudos to them!). Maybe the rest of the staff can learn from them.

The gym is beautiful, and a great place to work out. The customer service, however, is terrible. Every rule is designed to suck every penny out of you as a customer. We have experienced this many times, most recently when wanting to put an account on hold for a few months. A letter dated on the first of the month is not effective for 60 days (costing $250 for a family membership). While the gym is a nice facility, nothing beats good customer service and a company which cares about something other than taking as much money from you as possible.

I'm confused about all the negative reviews for this location. People have to stop getting angry over charges to their account and the cancellation process. Do you think gym memberships are free? They give you everything you need to know about canceling your account in the sign-up contracts. If you are a responsible adult, you are aware that reading the fine print is imperative to understanding your membership rights. They give you the information on a silver platter. It is not managements' fault if you neglect to read through this information they provide you. Now, to get to MY review of the gym....My boyfriend and I signed up together on the same day. Britt Strong was the advisor that signed us up and gave us a tour. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and never came on too strong with a sales-pitch. He made us feel really at home and gave us every opportunity to ask questions. We are so pleased with the customer service. Every time we call, someone answers right away and you can tell they have a smile on their face. The personal trainers are another topic I would like to mention. Neki and Michal were so knowledgeable and sincere about our fitness goals. We are really excited to start working with them. The facility is so clean ( as I was working out on my first day, I witnessed many employees tending to the gym trash cans and etc.) and the locker rooms are too.I was a member at LA Fitness for ONE day. I spent $400 on a Friday for personal training and a membership. When I showed up for my first session the NEXT day, the trainer had gone home because all of his earlier appts had cancelled. No one called me before to let me know, and no one called me after to apologize. So the next day I cancelled my year-long contract that I had signed and immediately called Lifetime. I am SO glad it worked out that way. The facility and it's amenities are so amazing. Thank you to all the people who helped sign us up! We are happy and excited to get into shape! All the unhappy reviews are from people who obviously do not know how to handle situations like an adult. This is real life people. Get with it!

Policy for canceling super inflexible. I gave a full month's notice, as I was told to do. On Dec 1st, I said this is my last month. I then learned that it's not one month's notice, it is one month and a day...so I would have needed to tell them on Nov 30th. I signed up in mid-October and made it very clear I was only going to be in Indy for a few months. The membership advisor made canceling seem easy - just give a month's notice. She should have pointed out that in the contract it is super particular. The team at Lifetime was unwilling to work with me, so I have to pay for the entire month of January, as well.No TVs on Cardio Equipment (YMCA in Fishers has this, which I didn't learn until after I joined LFT. When joining, the adviser had told me no one in Indy had this. Not so.)You have to have an FM Tuner to listen to the TVs they do have...they don't have the sound plugins on the cardio machines.TVs are only in two areas and not spread out through the cardio equiioment, so unless you get there early, you may not be able to get on a machine you want that is close enough to the TVs to read the close captioning (which you need to do if you don't use a device with a FM tuner...like a shuffle)Stretching area very limited. After being in Indy for a few months, I learned about a lot of other gyms that have great amenities and are a lot cheaper.I would not join Lifetime if I moved back to Indy.
