John Reed Fitness in Los Angeles offers a unique gym experience with its vibrant decor, modern equipment, and upbeat atmosphere. The facility feels like a blend of a nightclub and an art gallery, enhanced by live DJ sessions during workouts. The gym’s high energy and diverse setup appeal to many, fostering a dynamic space for fitness enthusiasts.

The gym excels in cleanliness, equipment variety, and an inclusive environment. While the staff generally receives positive remarks, there are occasional complaints of unfriendliness. I reviewed John Reed when it opened and rated it 5 stars. Amending my review having been a member for two years. If Museum of Ice Cream and Equinox had a baby, it would be John Reed Fitness. The place does have a vibe. Unfortunately it's so "influencer" friendly it's hard for a normal person to work out.It is not uncommon for multiple people to be filming themselves. Men routinely are allowed to use equipment without wearing shirts. I brought this up to the club manager at the height of the monkeypox epidemic and literally no action was taken. If you look at Instagram posts with John Reed tagged you can see what kind of atmosphere the facility not only tolerates but encourages.Unless you are actively looking to contract a disease or increase your online following I'd recommend you look elsewhere.

JOHN REED Fitness in Sand City is a gym experience unlike any other. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a fresh scent and it's modern interior design feels like an art gallery. The gym80 machines, with their German craftsmanship, offer an unparalleled level of smoothness and comfort during workouts. The facility is impeccably clean and exudes a vibrant atmosphere. While some wish for more natural light and improvements in the sauna, it remains a preferred choice for me.

LOVE this gym!!My fave gym to go to when visiting LA. A bit pricey but worth it. You don’t need headphones, they have a Live DJ.

I’m a member here @ DTLA and I called to speak with a manager and “Mike” sounded like he hated his job and was rude over the phone. short answers & didn’t even bother to help. I pay a decent amount of money every month too t you guys, and I suggest they invest in better employees to make a better experience.

The gym is cool and not for everyone. It has become more of an "influencer" than a "workout" culture which is the main drawback of this gym. You will maneuver and trip over their "filming" equipment or even wait while they shoot their routines. I am still trying to figure out the right time before all the antics begin because some days or more than others, it's not an all-day daily thing, but it has picked up a lot more where it becomes noticeable. But the gym is decent, has a good vibe for working out beside the film equipment obstacle course sometimes, and makes it more crowded. Plus, it is becoming the norm now. Still, when you have a lot more individuals doing "extra," it affects you because they may hog equipment for not the intended use, occupying a bench press to do ab exercises but not using the bench press at all, take the bench press bar to another location, etc.Overall, it's a solid gym, straightforward, and has everything you need, including classes, but the pro is the sign-up is pay-as-you-go, no contract or crazy cancel process.Equipment is well maintained for the most part, and I haven't seen many machines down for a long time. Housekeeping is reasonable; when it gets busy, it slacks a bit, but nothing you won't see anywhere else.

I toured JR for the first time and it was a blast. The front desk staff was very nice and super helpful. Drew in particular, who gave the best tour of my life, was very nice and insightful on my workout needs. They have great music and atmosphere. Very impressive. I love it here and also I love the vibes.

Love the gym but considering that it is a luxury gym they should always have towels. I also wish that there were two studios so that people wouldn’t have to wait for classes to be done to exercise
